I watched the clips on youtube.

The set is excellent and has a primetime feel to it.
Howie did a pretty good job hosting, and the announcer was great.
The Plinko gimmick was cool; I wish they had played it like Bruce's Price is Right, offering a huge cash amount or prize, including a win/lose option, and allowing the contestant to risk their money.
I hated the dramatic pauses.

I wonder if the thinking behind the dramatic pauses is because that was Howie's routine on Deal or No Deal, or if it is someone's idea simply for the show itself. Because I can see someone thinking this is a way to make it more Howie-esque. Either way, I don't care for it.

I've wondered in the past how our show would adjust if they had to cut even more time for commercials. We've heard stories of fairly good interactions between Drew and contestants that get cut due to time constraints already. If they did reduce the number of games played each day it would allow for more frequent playings of longer games, allow for more interaction to be left in, and save the budget some money even if they used some of the difference to increase prize values. Cutting two games and a Showcase Showdown seems excessive, though. I've wondered if the way to do it is 4 games with 2 showdowns, or 5 games with one. No alternate option is ideal, but there is so little room left if more time is ever needed to be cut.

I did kind of feel like the Canadian version might be doubling as a way to workshop some ideas should time crunching eventually demand it.

Despite the deliberate choice to avoid using the main theme where it would typically be used, I am very pleased that the producers have elected to use the Barker theme leading into the Showcase Showdown.

As if the first two shows weren't bad enough, last night Cliffhangers didn't have the prices in increasing order and the ice cream on Grocery Game was $14.00, criminal if you ask me.

Count me as someone who doesn’t mind the Cliffhangers setup. 20-30-40 has gotten very old and I’d like to see them mix it up on our version.

Howie using the term “yodely guy” however…

Okay, I'll acknowledge it is a brand new version, but Howie Mandel using the term "Yodely Guy" actually makes perfect sense, regardless of whether the original show does it. :P

While having the Cliff Hangers prices in "ascending" order fits the theme, it's not really a requirement. All you need is a mascot climbing the mountain and doing their best not to crash. I don't mind its price setup, either.

Some more interesting choices on the last show for the Showcase Showdown. After all four contestants had spun, one player was headed to the Showcase with 95 cents while two of these others needed to do a spin-off to break a tie on 65 cents. During the spin-off, one of the contestants netted $1.00... but didn't win a $1,000 bonus for some reason.

Confusing things further, considering how this version handles who gets the bid/pass option on Showcase #1, that spot was given to the contestant who spun 95 cents rather than the contestant who got the $1.00 in the spin-off.

I think above we already found out no bonus for $1.00.

And it makes complete sense, the person who spun 95 cents "won" the showcase showdown, the spin off was just to decide who goes to the showcase by highest number which does not count towards anything else.

I never liked "Yodely Guy," because he doesn't do any actual yodeling.  What's wrong with just referring to him as the mountain climber?
Fun fact: Evelyn Wong, the 5th person to be called on the first show (9/4/72), was actually the very first contestant to directly be called to come on down!  The original first four (Sandy Flornor, Paul Levine, Connie Donnel, Myra Carter) were individually told to stand up, and then, as a group, were invited to come on down.
