Looking for a Pick-a-Number playing from the early 2000s
« on: March 28, 2026, 08:27:55 PM »
I'm finishing writing the Pick-a-Number page for the Golden Gallery...and let's just say it's not the most exciting game in the rotation. I'd like to mention a particular playing from the early 2000s, but I'm not sure of the date, can't find a recap of it, and it doesn't seem to be on YouTube. What I recall is that an older lady contestant took the number from the stand herself, placed the number, pulled it up, and she lost. Bob put the number back, had (I believe) Claudia placed it as normal revealed the number and the buzzer sounded again!

If anyone has that episode, or even the date of it, I'd greatly appreciate it!

I tried scouring the galleries on The Price is Right wiki, but they've been no help. However, Pick-a-Number wasn't played too often in that period as the S28-S31 calendars prove. This narrows it to:

October 12, 1999 (#1212K)
June 13, 2000 (#1492K)
November 14, 2000 (#1582K)
February 3, 2001 (#1685K)
May 3, 2001 (#1794K)
December 13, 2001 (#1984K)
February 15, 2002 (#2065K)
May 1, 2002 (#2153K)
June 10, 2002 (#2211K)
October 9, 2002 (#2253K)
November 22, 2002 (#2315K)
January 16, 2003 (#2394K)

Pick-A-Number was played twice more in S31, but I didn't factor those in due to the alleged presence of Claudia who had left the show by then. I highly doubt it was either of the S31 playings, but I could be wrong. I remember seeing #2315K live since that aired the day after Thanksgiving.

I'm leaning towards May 1, 2002. I remember that the game was lost in that playing. That episode is not on YouTube.

I also remember she wanted to hug Rod before the game started.

No, it didn't.  The day after Thanksgiving was a rerun from October, and Pick-a-Number wasn't played on it.  (Thanks for tracking this all those years ago, Scorpz!)

Oops. It had to have been a S31 or S32 episode that I got to see while off from school. My memory is hazy.

I think this happened sometime in the 90s and it was Kathleen that placed the number

If it did, it was certainly in the late 90s. Someone else suggested November 6th, 2003 as well...
