George nailing people's names
« on: April 21, 2026, 06:04:29 AM »
During contestant processing, does a staffer ask each person how their name is pronounced? I don't remember if this happened. I ask because it seems like George always nails the pronounciation of names. I was waiting to hear him call me as "Adam Storm" or "Stroam", as I've been called throughout my life. But, when my show aired, he said it perfectly.

George’s warmup includes a joke about “they don’t tell me how to pronounce your name, so I apologize in advance when I butcher it on national television.” He’ll illustrate by picking a person in the audience with with a seemingly clear name (“Tara” or “Caroline”) and illustrate how it could plausibly be pronounced one of two ways (“Caro-LYNN” or “Caro-LINE”) and that no matter which one he picks he will somehow manage to be on the wrong side of the contestants’ preferred pronunciation every time.

Glad to hear he got yours right!

Password looks like any idiot could have made it up, but we have 14 of our people working on that show. There is a great complexity behind the screen. It requires great work to keep it simple."

They did ask my last name pronounciation when they were processing my ID, but I also didn't get called down, so... Maybe it was just curiosity?

never asked how to pronounce my last name which can be pronounced at least 2 ways...in probably 18 interviews...but George got it the way I pronounce it.

He really does a good job I think considering names can have origins in regions many of us don't see or say on a regular basis.
My taping history:

1 Bob taping somewhere around 1986
30 Drew tapings starting February 5th 2024 ending October 9, 2025
My 'Come on Down' moment occurred on October 8th 2025 (1284L).  Air date of February 5th 2026. Two years exactly from my first taping.
