The CW has picked up a revival of the Nickelodeon game show Legends of the Hidden Temple featuring adults as contestants. And though there is no announced premiere date or who will host the show. The elements and the team names from the original series will remain unchanged - the show promises tough challenges and bigger prizes than the original version in each episode.

I was fully expecting this to be on Paramount+ after seeing the link to the contestant application on Buzzerblog and that it was not for the Quibi version, seeing it'll be on network TV is a nice surprise. Now to see if Kirk Fogg will return as host and Dee Bradley Baker returning as Olmec.

The Quibi version IS this version for the record in looking, it got moved from there to the CW. https://decider.com/2021/05/11/legends-of-the-hidden-temple-reboot-cw/

This is awesome news!! I remember watching Legends all the time when I was a kid. Let's hope that they stick to the true format of the show. It seems like reboots do better when the format is relatively the same as before.
-
I wonder if they will let some of the kids that were on there back in the 90s be able to come back this time. That is if they are in great shape and meet the requirements
-
Hopefully the contestants know how to put the monkey together :p

I don't know if I can trust a source that can't spell "development."

Apologies for the month-long bump, but The CW has confirmation of the premiere date for Sunday, October 10 at 8 pm eastern. Still no word on who will be the host of the series.

I’ll gladly be watching Celebrity Wheel of Fortune instead. Nothing wrong with rehiring Kirk.

Nickelodeon got it right when they brought back Marc Summers to announce the Double Dare revival. No excuse for The CW to not bring back Kirk.

What if he comes back in the announcer role too? It's possible.
-
And if Kirk Fogg is just tired of being the host of one show for the rest of his career?
Have we ever considered that? He may not want to be typecasted any further.
-
Kirk told TMZ back in May that he was in talks to host the revival and he said he will be involved in some way. https://www.tmz.com/2021/05/13/kirk-fogg-legends-of-the-hidden-temple-reboot-adults/ (https://www.tmz.com/2021/05/13/kirk-fogg-legends-of-the-hidden-temple-reboot-adults/)
Maybe they'll get Dee Bradley Baker to voice Olmec again?
-
Maybe Kirk will be a Temple Guard. One thing I find cheesy about the original Nick version is that the TG sound effect always included a drum sound, but none of the TGs have them on their costumes.
With regards to an adult version, I'd expect more of a Wipeout (ABC)-style moat, somewhat more challenging Steps Of Knowledge, and a larger Temple with all-new obstacles and challenges. I'm definitely going to give it a try.
-
In theory, Legends of the Hidden Temple is just a themed-Fun House/College Mad House. So they can continue to build toward the concept a bit more with adult contestants.

Considering what the homepage of his official website (http://www.kirkfogg.com/kf/index.html) looks like...

...I doubt that's the reason.

while Kirk ended up being passed for the host/guide spot, https://www.instagram.com/p/CRjn3OynB-d/ i have a feeling they at least got Dee to reprise his role as Olmec
-
update to my last post, with a tweet from the new host https://twitter.com/cristela9/status/1417704578238205955 that confirms my previous statement (as to Dee)
-
So Dee is definitely back as Olmec, that's great news. Now to see what exactly Kirk's role is, if he indeed has one as he indicated to TMZ in May.
-
Since the new season of Legends premiered tonight, I feel this topic is worthy of a bump.
What did those of you who watched the episode tonight think?? It was great hearing Dee's voice as Olmec again! Brought back many, many memories of my childhood!
I need to give it some more episodes before I critique it too much, but I was pretty impressed so far.
-
Meh. I felt like I was watching one of those reality-competition shows on MTV. Nice to hear Dee as Olmec, though. Overall, not very impressed.
At least someone was able to quickly put together that Silver Monkey.
-
Uuuugh. We don't need the confession booth padding. Also where was the classic temple run music? The current one is... rather forgettable.
-
It was great hearing Dee as Olmec again, and I like that they kept things pretty similar to the original. The new host didn't do much for me though, and the moat challenge and temple games felt too long while they sped through the steps of knowledge. The set pieces in general just looked pretty cheap too, and didn't really need the reality show "confession booth" bits. Wish they did something better for the tiebreaker also (I know it was the same way on the original), and that they found some way to have Kirk Fogg involved on camera.
-
i know this might be considered a bump, but going back to JayC's wish they'd involve Kirk in any way.. https://attractionsmagazine.com/exclusive-original-host-kirk-fogg-returns-legends-of-the-hidden-temple-reboot/?utm_content=buffer5d2a5&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

With a full hour to work with, there's no reason to reduce the number of Temple Games from three to two, and it really showed with an episode from the past week with over five minutes remaining on the clock. It also means that there are no longer any cases with 1 1/2 Pendants of Life for the Temple Run, since it was very cool wondering if the second player would be able to find that extra half and thus be immune to that third Temple Guard. As much as I like cash, I would have changed the prize structure to a little cash for getting into the Temple, a trip for grabbing the Legend in time, and a new CUV/SUV/car for taking it out of the temple in time (of course winning all prizes in the process as before). Also to fill time, have four teams instead of three advance to the Steps of Knowledge like on the original and perhaps add another step or two. The bottom line is that each Temple Game shouldn't take longer than the Temple Run, and a little extra time for contestant interviews before them could also be supported.
At least in addition to TSOFSM, the Pit of Despair and The Dark Forest returned (but of course, a Temple Guard could still be a spirit of a tree!) Great to see Kirk coming back for a special appearance though!
-
Looking forward to seeing Kirk back at on the show. And I was wondering (and hoping) they would bring back contestants from the past. Will they have classic clips??
Watching last week's episode was just like old times. The contestant couldn't put the dang monkey together!
