How many times do I have to tell you?! ZERO RULE, PEOPLE!!!

Kellie doesn't deserve to be facing the First Four Wall of Shame. Somebody else has been far more infamous today. I am officially inducting a new wing: the Stoner Section. The criteria are simple: anybody who was introduced to Contestant's Row in the first half, who bids $420 or some variant every single time and ultimately loses. A fresh green-hued granite wall is ready for the seemingly-inevitable induction of Laurie, who ought to be in Kellie's place on Contestant's Row: the green podium.

This is what we get with the decriminalization of marijuana in California.

Says my roommate after Laurie's $420 salvo:

"You think smoking the Mary Jane will get you far in life?  No, it'll only get you stuck in Contestants' Row."

Having said that...I wouldn't be surprised if she was actually ON the stuff while on the show.

Might I add: 10 Chances was, once again, played terribly.  The door closing to hide the car was a nice touch, though.

Ms. Laurie and Mr. Steven overshadowed a pretty good show that had potential to be at least 5/6. Keep this up Mike, please (although maybe it's time to abandon the vintage cars - people think about actually using their winnings, not collecting them, and for cars this is a big deal. This goes back to cool/exotic but impractical, and cars are a major deal to be affected by this shift).

-Steven: He seemed to be on the right track but then fell for cheap luggage and abandoned something apparently no audience member currently knows... I'm still stymied on that.
-Laurie is self-explanatory. It would be a shame if this show was blacklisted, but you can't help but remember May 20th 2008.

Anyone besides me hoping that someone bidding before Laurie would bid $421?  I bet she still would've bid $420.  Can't say I'm upset she didn't make it up on stage :P.

I'm almost surprised that Pick a Number was won.  I really shouldn't be, though.

I should probably expect it by this point, but nearly $28,000 cars don't really belong in Let 'em Roll.  Making only one of the two guesses only slightly tricky doesn't help justify that.

10 Chances: zero rule too! After 39 years…. 47, 962, 629…..

Yes, what was with the bids of $420? I mean, is there some new "rule" that says you should bid $420 or something?

And wow...an honest-to-goodness Steve Urkel! Now that was unexpected!

I was hoping she was going to bid $1420 during the 6th IUFB.

She would have made it up on stage and bombed secret X.

Frank, I'm surprised. The 8 seemed to be the only logical choice for the spa, at least compared to the 4 or 5.

For only the third time in the 30 years that I've been watching "The Price Is Right", I'm declaring today's episode an Alan Smithee Episode®.   If it wasn't bad enough that we had Jeff Spicoli Laurie in CR, we had Steven Urkel, who played 10 Chances like the complete opposite of the Steven Urkel whom we all know and love from Family Matters.  And to top it all off... there was actually a SP in Secret X worth $69!  Today's episode was more excruciating than listening to the Carpenters' "Touch Me When We're Dancing".

My only positive comment on today's show is on the '57 Chevy.  Unlike some people, I enjoy seeing the occasional restored classic car on this show almost as much as I enjoy seeing the occasional BMW or a Viper.  But I do agree with Frank that such a high-price car seems out of place in a game (like Let 'Em Roll) that has high odds of a win.

My showcase bids:
Morocco--$19,107
Jet ski/truck--$29,107

Fun show today, although Laurie was really annoying.

I'm really liking the frequent rotation that Danger Price is getting this year... and nice to see some normally-priced prizes in there too, instead of a bloated $10,000+ mess.

Most contestants are just so stupid with Ten Chances.

Yes, let's keep shows like this up. Even the interaction between Drew and Jeff didn't bother me today - it wasn't overly goofy or stupid, for the most part. If they have to hire one of these guys that are "Drew's buddies," definitely make it Jeff.

Laurie was very annoying. Take your job of bidding seriously when you're called to come on down or let someone else play.

Another painful 10 Chances...I doubt they'll ever just tell people the 0 rule, but maybe they should consider it.

I liked the '57 Chevy...and a nice win for it in Roll.

I liked that too. Bye Rachel and the sweet looking Challenger.  :-(

I hope I don't sound rude, but I pretty much felt Laurie took a valuable spot from someone who would seriously try to win (agreeing with Hag).

I'm pretty sure that it's because of the game's timing, but it's ridiculous that Secret "X" has been the small prize game played most often this season (so far - am I correct?). We've seen Plinko less often (am I'm not a big Plinko fan), Bonus Game once, and Shell Game not at all, if I have my facts right.

Seriously, Mike, this picking contestants by their picture thing isn't working. What exactly did you see in stoner Laurie? Or the Secret X contestant? Or Mr. Urkel, who I assume got called only because of his name? Yes, today was one of those shows where I was just laughing by the end at how ridiculous it was, but that really shouldn't be happening on The Price Is Right. People like Laurie are not good for the show. They only take a seat away from someone who actually wants to be there and not act stupid.

That off my chest, gameplay-wise today wasn't that bad, aside from the debacle in 10 Chances that is becoming all too normal now. If they're going to keep offering these vintage expensive cars, they should really try to make them harder to win somehow though, because they really drain the budget and they're not very practical.

Danger Price 4 times in 8 weeks! Now there's one game I don't mind seeing get an increase in play.

Timings:
Let 'em Roll (5.5) - 4:31
Coming Or Going (3.5)- 3:52
Danger Price (4.5) - 4:05
Pick A Number (3.5) - 3:17
10 Chances (6) - 5:37
Secret X (4.5)- 5:06
Total time (27.5): 26:28

Let Em Roll - Nice win
Coming or Going - This should've been won
Danger Price - Also should've been won
PA# - Nice win
10 chances - What an idiot! You need to follow the 0 rule!  the car was the only burden about winning.
Secret X - Nice win
3 for 6 today we probably woulda had a perfect show if Steph, Will, and Steve were smart enough.

Best part of this show by far, was Amber holding on to that washer and dryer for her life as the price is right train came zooming in. Then trying to model the dryer, it dosnt open.. so she just gives the "screw this" face.

She made a bit of an awkward laugh after saying it.

I completely agree Frank that people were worked up and biased after Laurie, by the way. :P

Also, your welcome to the above. That's actually another thing - Drew made more note of this debacle instead of handling Joseph so professionally. Even talked to Jeff about it a bit because he's much more comfortable now than 30 months ago. That did not help matters when even the nuts were sick of it by OB6.

Well, haha Laurie, like your the first person to do this. You earned no points with the audience and I hope you enjoy your consolation prize for "contestants not appearing on stage."

As for the rest of the show don't get me started on 10 Chances. I said from the moment the numbers were revealed for the luggage that the price was my birthday (920). Well I have a little problem with him not following the zero rule, but not as big a problem as his $200 guesses. Why didn't he realize that this is TPIR not some school fundraiser? It's luggage set, focus your guesses on 6 and $900.

By the way, I must have missed it over this past month, but has Spelling Bee been played yet? I know Shell Game and 3 Strikes(?) haven't and we know that GR is on the way next Friday.

Laurie was a complete and utter dumbass.  There was not a single redeeming quality about her.  The only downside of her never getting out of Contestants' Row was that we had to watch her scream, "$420!" and jump around, giggling like a nitwit for five straight Items up for Bids.

One of the few things the current staff is doing right is playing a whole lot of Danger Price.

Wow, Pick-a-Number was actually set up for a win.

Ten Chances was played atrociously.  Some of Steven's guesses weren't high enough to make sense even if they had ended in zero.

FRANK!!! :)

Coming or Going was a complete crapshot!  How was Stephanie not "smart enough" for not winning that?!

You haven't been around for a while, Frank, so let me clue you in on our latest goofball:  In Elskunkoman's eyes, anyone who doesn't win their pricing game is an idiot.

And I wasn't going to saying anything about the restored car, because everyone already knows how I feel about those...but a Chevette?!  Are you freaking kidding?!

By the way, I must have missed it over this past month, but has Spelling Bee been played yet? I know Shell Game hasn't and we know that GR is on the way next Friday.

No, not all of us knew that, and at least one of us was trying to keep it that way.

Well, haha Laurie, like your the first person to do this.
Yup. I have three big problems with Laurie. Bidding $420 was funny the first time I heard it, but by now the joke has been beaten to death. Second, Laurie's comedic delivery is awful. It's funnier when a joke bid like that is deadpan rather than a "look at me" fit. Third, and most importantly, it would suck to be a genuine fan in the audience realizing that you didn't get picked while someone who couldn't care less about trying to win got picked instead.

Let 'em Roll showed an example of when there's not much incentive to bail out. After the second roll, the contestant was only giving up $1000. Chances are, even if she didn't win the car, she get at least $1000 again.

Maybe Drew should start making sly hints about the zero rule in 10 Chances. Something like, "Try to pick a two digit number that looks like it could be the price of a . . ."

Rachel looked like her life was flashing before her eyes when James hugged her and tried to lift her up next to the hot tub.

Jane is playing Let 'em Roll for a restored vintage 1957 Chevrolet Chevette. (V8, automatic transmission; appraised value: $27,990) (Amber)

Lmao! The only thing a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air and a Chevette have in common is the Blue Bowtie. I suppose its a simple enough brain fart though.. hehe

Laurie didn't deserve to get on stage if she was only going to bid 420.  Couldn't she tell prizes are more expensive than that?  The only hope she'd have had would've been if everyone else overbid.  Also since steven made 10 chances seem so hard and completely messed up on it I wonder if he was thinking "did I do that?"  LOL!

Well, not only did this show have the $420 lady and a guy named Steve Urkel, but the showcase runner up, 'Tracy', is apparently an adult web site model, her shoutout to 'SoCal Glamour Girls and Guys' gave it away:  (site NSFW)

So that's what I get for working from home this morning...

Let Em Roll:  A nice car, and a nice win! :-)
Pick A Number:  Nice to see this game won for a change!
Ten Chances:  And it's another ID10T!  I agree that they should consider telling people the 0 rule, Hag.

Pretty good overall, IMHO, although Laurie was getting annoying with her bidding $420 on every IUFB.

Enough has been said of Laurie, so I won't add anymore. But I thought Pick-a-Number was bordering on Dobstopper, because a lot of contestants would low-ball it. Beachcombers are much more expensive than most other hot tubs that show up on the show; didn't you hear the audience gasp and groan when he picked the 8? I say, Great win!

By the way, I must have missed it over this past month, but has Spelling Bee been played yet? I know Shell Game and 3 Strikes(?) haven't and we know that GR is on the way next Friday.
First off as far as the focus of this board is concerned, nothing is confirmed for next Friday.

Second of all, Bee has been played. The three other games you mentioned are the only three with 0 playings so far of all games played last season.

And I wasn't going to saying anything about the restored car, because everyone already knows how I feel about those...but a Chevette?!  Are you freaking kidding?!

The car wasn't described as a Chevette at all, just "a 1957 Chevrolet."  Maybe it was a typo on Kitch's part.  Besides, the craptacular Chevette didn't come out until 1976.

Sorry for sounding so sure of myself or anyone else on GR 1st playing. I just can't believe they wouldn't take advantage of the easy opportunity. Although, maybe they know it is to easy and would opt not to do it. My guess is that we may be in store for a few surprises come the end of next week, anyway.

Thank you for clearing SB up for me. I had a patch earlier this month where I had no computer or television.

Today's show was entertaining. Manuela looked great from the handoff to the showcases. Amber looked confused when the guy didn't win "Coming or Going." Rachel looked as scared as I felt when she was grabbed by the hot tub.

Ten Chances was a terrible playing, as usual. Tracy looks better with the blur induced by the cbs.com streaming video than she does on the link above. This was a good use of my 38 minutes today.

This was the first day since premiere week I've waken up to watch... Porn stars, potheads and perplexing 90s TV shared names? Clearly I picked a good day to watch. :P
The $420 thing is, of course, highly irritating and it's upsetting to know someone "worthy" could've had her spot. (I'm sure she hid all signs of her highly original plan in line, though.) And although I wish Jeff and Drew would've just ignored it, mocking her to her face works for me as a second best.

SHOW GRADE: 2

That's what bugged me the most about that whole thing. It's very, very unfortunate.

Something about that show was just rubbing me the wrong way. I know the rest of the show went fine, but the 2 really obnoxious contestants kinda spoiled the show for me. Laurie was just a stupid college girl trying to show off on national television (and could she have at least lowered the pitch of her voice?), and Tracy, though a bit less exhuberant, was apparently there to promote some adult website.

I don't understand what some of you have against Steven Urkel. Ok, he had the same same as the guy from Family Matters. But he was truly happy to be there, wasn't acting like a Diet Coke and Mentos, and yes, didn't know the 0 rule in 10C, but you know what, in the last few years, very little people know that rule!

As for the rest, it was fine.
I too thought the Danger Price was the computer.
8 for the hot tub looked right, even to my Jane Plinko of a wife.
I give a big WIN to DiPirro for showing the closing door #3 after the chance at the car was gone, though it's sad we've gotten to a point where someone planned a shot for such a case.
Amber should make sure of the result before making a face when revealing a price. She just looked confused, and almost confused Drew as well.

What was wrong with her?  I mean, she wasn't the most memorable contestant ever, but few are.  She seemed like a good, if unspectacular contestant.

You mean you didn't pick up on one of her friends spanking her while she was coming on down (yes, spanking!)? Or her really short shorts (when the pockets are longer than the shorts, they are too short)? Her grabbing Drew's butt when she got on stage? Her asking her friend if she should put the last X in the middle square? Her deafening high-pitch scream that probably sent a few of my neighborhood dogs running away? All of that didn't bother you?

You know, now that I think of it, most of that make more sense now that we know she's a porn star!

The shorts + black knee high boots. When I saw her I thought, "Wow, she looks like a porn star." You have to ask, according to what criteria did the producers think, "Gee, she'd be a great contestant."?

$420... smh.

That said, it was a great show. In general, I've been loving this year's shows. Fun, creative, decent number of wins, some really interesting contestants.

Didn't notice the spanking, did notice the odd pockets on her shorts, noticed the butt grabbing, noticed the same Secret "X" play every other contestant does at least, and the scream didn't bother me.  Still, no, she didn't bother me.

Okay first of all you guys are chatting on a Forum about the Price is Right. This is NOT brain surgery, so try NOT to be so critical of things that you truly don't have any control over.
As for the process they use for picking contestants, if you've been to the show you know it's ALL about how they are going to look on stage, based on the hours of interviews before the show. Finally, in regards to Tracy, and her slightly exuberant, simply sweet and very attractive appearance;  SHE was there and you weren't. She won the games she needed to, to get to the Final showcase, which did take SOME actual thought process, and compared to Ms $420 girl was nothing short of Stephen Hawking. Ease up guys and girls...it's JUST a game show!!

That's the thing -- the show is brain surgery.  Drew and Mike have spent the last two years proving that it's a lot harder to produce than it looks.

As for the process they use for picking contestants, if you've been to the show you know it's ALL about how they are going to look on stage, based on the hours of interviews before the show.

The interview lasts for approximately 15 seconds, and Mike picks the contestants from amongst the folks Stan liked based on their photographs now, anyway.

So someone was complaining about how a contestant was dressed on stage?? She wasn't wearing any less than some of the on-stage models wear on any given show. Perhaps you guys were upset that she looked better than those models.

Oh and if you actually check out the site that she promoted then you would realize that it isn't really any different than any guys oriented magazine that is available at your local grocery store, just an online version. The best part is you can actually get to know some of the girls on there and realize how wrong you were to call her a "porn star".

Lauren, the entire concept of bidding $420 in order to promote a site or even just for amusement, instead of trying to win prizes like most other contestants called down aim to do, is what has offended most of us on here.
