Oh yeah! It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Not really, but College Football is, in my humble opinion, of the best times of the year. Sure there was some of that last year, but for obvious reasons, not the way people are used to seeing it.
Anyway, after a year of a watered-down product due to the pandemic, College Football returns (in about three & four weeks) to a resemblance of what we last saw in 2019. The fans return, the conferences including the Pac 12 return, and the band is back! Really the bands are back, and that is an underrated part of the games on Saturdays. Tailgating and the total atmosphere return I believe. However, I would proceed with caution as we still have a rather long way to go. Still better than last year, but I’m guessing the pregame stuff and attendance will depend on the guidelines in one’s area/state. That aside, there may be full capacity (in some places), but there will be games played. Cancellations are still a possibility, but I think we’ll get more in this season than last year.
As is the custom each year (except last season of course), things get rolling during Labor Day Weekend. Yeah, there are about a half dozen games the weekend before, but the glorified slate starts next month prior to and including Labor Day.
You have the old non-Power 5 team and the newer non-Power 5 team facing off on 09/02 (Boise State vs Central Florida). After that Thursday game, we’re treated to a nice Saturday (09/04) full of great games from great teams: Alabama vs Miami in the afternoon, and Clemson vs Georgia in primetime. Sunday night has Notre Dame against Florida State (09/05), and Louisville vs Mississippi on Monday (09/06).
The Crimson Tide begins its title defense as the Top Ranked team. They’re followed by Oklahoma, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Iowa State, Oregon, Notre Dame, and North Carolina. That list, which will become meaningless as the season progresses, comes courtesy of ESPN. Finally, the season is slated to conclude on Monday, January 10th, 2022, with the National Championship Game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. That College Football Playoff Final wraps up the year’s Bowl Season, which starts on Saturday, December 18th, 2021. Included in those postseason games are the New Year’s Six games featuring the Peach, Cotton, Orange, Fiesta, Rose, and Sugar Bowl Games. Whatever happens, it should be a great 2021 College Football Season!

Georgia gets its baptism of fire right away September 4 against Clemson (played in Charlotte) followed by what sounds like a cupcake game against Alabama-Birmingham. The usual tilts against the SEC follow. Expectations for J.T. Daniels as QB are pretty lofty.
-
Oops, double post. Please delete, mods.
-
The good news for Georgia is that they're facing a Clemson team that lost its star QB to the NFL. Though the last time the Tigers lost a star to the pros, it didn't take too long to find its next star. I think the game could go either way, with the final result being a close one. Fortunately this game shouldn't crush either team's playoff chances should they fall short (both of the Pac 12 & the Big 12 champs would have to run the table for it to cost Georgia or Clemson).
You know, around the end of last season, J.T. Daniels, to me, looked like the one guy I could cash in on for a perfect, Cinderella season (a la Burrow in 2019). I figured he'd return, it's the SEC, and Georgia is in the East so they could get to the SEC Title Game without having to post a better record than LSU or Alabama. Probably is that it's rather common for Georgia to fall short against the West.
Anyway, Vegas is making people work to get paid off of a perfect UGA season coupled with a Heisman win for J.T. It's probably a longshot anyway, but Daniels will not be sneaking up on anyone in terms of a surprise season. In January, he was around 8/1. I think it went to +1200 later on in the year. Currently he's in the Top 5 at 5/1.
To compare him and Joe Burrow, the LSU star was 200/1 two or three months before the start of the 2019 season (I think someone won $10,000 for sticking with their $50 futures bet). I don't know how the Bulldogs will perform; I think Daniels can win regardless of an SEC crown (though a 10-win season would be a start)
-
Alabama's schedule looks like the proverbial cakewalk. (Mercer on Sept. 11. Gee, I wonder who's going to win that game...).
-
Crazy first full week. Virginia Tech upsets the #10 Tar Heels, #19 Penn State upsets #12 Wisconsin, and #2 Oklahoma barely beats Tulane. Should be a fun year.
-
Georgia doesn't score an offensive touchdown in Week 1 and they move from #5 to #2. Anything wrong with that?
-
Upset of the weekend so far: #12 Oregon 35, #3 Ohio State 28.
-

Given they beat Clemson, Oklahoma struggled to win, and Ohio State wasn't dominating it's pretty understandable.
A #12 beating a #3 isn't a huge upset, though Oregon was without two star players.
-
Georgia as #2 is accurate. It helps that Clemson returned to the Clemson we know with their second game, plus the bulldogs allowing a total of 10 points after 2 games. Ohio State losing helps too, though if they had blown out Oregon, maybe they would've leaped over Georgia

USC fires Clay Helton (https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/pac12/2021/09/13/clay-helton-fired-usc-football-coach/8325479002/)
Of course throughout the week the speculation of Urban quitting at Jacksonville was there, but I think James Franklin being there in 2022 is more likely than Meyer
-
All is right in the world as nos. 1 through 5 won their games, although Florida made Alabama earn their victory. Clemson (#6) beat Georgia Tech, but didn't blow them out of the water as Vegas thought they would (the line opened at 29, and was 27-1/2 at kickoff).
-
The four teams in the top 25 in games completed (Georgia, Notre Dame, Penn State, Coastal Carolina) have won their games decisively. There's an upset in the making as no. 16 Arkansas leads no. 7 Texas A&M. Still plenty of game to go.
-
Georgia notches two straight shutout wins with a 37-0 win over Arkansas. #3 Oregon's loss to Stanford will cause a drop in their place in the rankings, but likely won't drop out of the top 10.
-

Yep, out of the Top 5, but five spot down to #8. However, there are no more undefeated Pac-12 teams. Looks like they'll be left out again. Fortunately, the ACC is down, and Notre Dame lost to Cincinnati. Speaking of the Bearcats (which would offset the Pac-12 chances if they won out), I think this might be the year that a non Power Five team makes it into the CFB Playoff. That's only if they'll win.
It is possible that teams (like Michigan, MSU, and Oklahoma State) could jump Cincy. The good news for the Bearcats is that they will move into the top four thanks to the result of the Penn State / Iowa game. The only way I'd be wrong with that statement is if Michigan pounded Nebraska enough to surge to the Top 3 or Top 4. On the other hand, I'd still be correct with that coupled with a Aggies win and/or an Auburn Tigers victory.
Last Week's Top 10, FYI: Alabama, Georgia, Penn State, Iowa, Cincinnati, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan, BYU
-
Oklahoma just pulled out the biggest comeback in Red River Shootout history overcoming a 21 point deficit at the end of the 1st quarter to win 55-48 on Kennedy Brooks game winning 33 yard touchdown run with 2 seconds left. The 103 total points are also a Red River Shootout record. FWIW, I have the Red River Shootout ranked as the 3rd best rivalry in college football behind only Ohio State-Michigan and the Iron Bowl.
-
Arkansas-Ole Miss was another barnburner that went to the wire with the Running Rebels prevailing, 52-51. What a Saturday.
-
What a Saturday indeed. Meanwhile, Penn State & Iowa is living up to the hype. Basically the opposite of what Ole Miss / Arkansas turned out to be. Looked like Iowa was just slated to take advantage of PSU losing its QB, but despite a 1st and Goal to go, PSU had the Hawkeyes going backwards in a major way
-
UPSET OF THE MILLENNIUM: #1 Alabama just lost to an unranked Texas A&M via a Texas A&M game-winning Field Goal. Expect Alabama to no longer hold that #1 Rank for some time.
-
UPSET OF THE MILLENNIUM: #1 Alabama just lost to an unranked Texas A&M via a Texas A&M game-winning Field Goal. Expect Alabama to no longer hold that #1 Rank for some time.
Upset of the Millennium?! It's College Football, Jarod. If Alabama wins out, it'll just be another game, period. No different than what happened in 2015 vs Ole Miss, 2017 vs Auburn. It's one game.
Patriots losing to the Giants, Serena losing Vinci, Michigan losing to App State > Bama losing to A&M. It's not even close. And what I've mentioned pales in comparison to Virginia losing to UMBC. That? Is the biggest upset since 2000.
Nevertheless, it's a big win for Jimbo Fisher. First time any former assistant has defeated Nick Saban. Still an amazing streak that's no more (24-0). If and when TAMU falls on their sword, it'll be for nothing. They dropped each of their past two games while looking ahead to this matchup (or not). They still have to run the table and hope the Tide drops another SEC game. Basically, the same spot Ole Miss was in 2014 & 2015.
Finally, the Number one ranking will finally go to Georgia. We'll see if it'll be a jinx real soon, but no one's come close to knocking them off. Unless Alabama gets their chance, the team to crush the Bulldogs, IMO, will come from the Big Ten
-
Georgia faces unbeaten #16 Kentucky this upcoming Saturday. This could be a trap game for Georgia so they'd better pay attention to game tape
-
It's official. 1447261645655379968[/tweet]]For the first time in nearly four decades: Georgia is in the top spot. (http://[tweet) Everyone agrees that it's the correct spot. A unanimous decision. They're followed by Iowa, Cincinnati, Oklahoma, and Alabama. While the former owner of the top spot lost at the buzzer to an unranked team, the reigning champions likely still control its own destiny. BTW, the team that gave them their first loss since 2019 did so in the only week they were unranked. IIRC, Texas A&M was actually 26th.
I'd agree that Kentucky looks like the team that could knock off Georgia if it was on the road. The thing is that Georgia is giving me that 2013 Florida State & 2019 LSU vibe. It's not giving me a 2001 Miami vibe or a 1976 Pittsburgh vibe (or anything the 1980s Hurricanes or Sooners or even 1990s Nebraska did). The Bulldogs are not even coming close to losing. They're allowing an average of 7 points (really less) per game. If there was anything suspect, I'd be concerned against the Wildcats. That, and an injury that would make the difference.
Texas A&M is not 2013 FSU, but I guess Jimbo winning (on his birthday no less) completes the part of the 2013 that Auburn robbed me from eight years ago. To be fair, the Tigers were 13 seconds from winning the game
-
Wow, pretty shocking it's been this long since Georgia was last ranked #1. I'm also a little surprised they didn't keep Alabama in the top 4 despite the loss, Iowa jumping to #2 is pretty surprising also. Nice to see Cincinnati get respect and move all the way to #3 as well.
As mentioned, tough game for Georgia next week and they still have to play Florida on the road. Also, the Big 10 is looking great so far with five teams in the top 10 and 3 of them undefeated.
-
The line on Kentucky-Georgia is 23-1/2. That's pretty tasty candy. The Wildcats doubled up on LSU yesterday, and they're not playing like slouches. Georgia wins but Kentucky covers. (Take my predictions with all the salt you can get hold of.)😜
-
It looks like the final line is going to be Georgia -21.5 with an O/U of 44.5.
I was thinking Kentucky ATS as well, but I think I’m going to settle with Bulldogs. It’s a last-minute change. Not an easy decision either since the new pressure coupled with the fact that it’s Georgia would lead me toward the Wildcats.
Thinking it’ll be a 34-10 final score which could produce a bad beat.
Could be a nice parlay for all of that and a Dodgers win (which is my pick for the NL winner), but I’ll pass on that today
-
No. 17 Arkansas falls to unranked Auburn while no. 12 Oklahoma State comes from behind to beat no. 25 Texas.
-
Georgia remain undefeated, and no. 2 Iowa is stunned by Purdue. Just another crazy Saturday in the NCAA
-
Georgia remain undefeated, and no. 2 Iowa is stunned by Purdue. Just another crazy Saturday in the NCAA
Nah. Iowa losing is just another Saturday in the world of College Football. There was even an Iowa fan elsewhere that made mention to the fact that they don't feel like the No 2 team and that it'll be short lived at best. She was right. It's traditional for the Hawkeyes to blow it. Especially with Purdue.
I guess you can call it Karma. Unlike Texas A&M, it came across as a team who would think won the National Championship. The funny thing is, the fans stormed the field as a Top 5 team, so I guess they weren't that elite.
Alabama won as well, so all is right. They probably have to beat Auburn as they and A&M both won. Of course, A&M still has Ole Miss to deal with later. Plus, Auburn and A&M still have a game which helps the Tide
-
At this point, Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and Oklahoma probably control their own destiny. If Alabama wins out and beats an unbeaten Georgia team in the SEC Championship Game, both Alabama and Georgia will both make it as 1 loss teams. If Michigan and Oklahoma win the big 10 and big 12 respectively as undefeated teams, they'll make it. Could be chaos if things don't play out like that.

While not chaos, the committee will have "fun" with their decision regarding Georgia if what you said happens and if Wake Forest wins out. I can't see the last unbeaten ACC team winning out at all, but if they do (along with Michigan & Oklahoma), that'll be a tough call in deciding what to do with Georgia if their first loss is to a one-loss Alabama team. Fortunately for Cincinnati (or not), I also don't see Michigan winning out. Penn State will be tough, and so will MSU. I'll believe in them being Ohio State after I see it
-
Appalachian State wins their first game against a ranked team since 2007 (#5 Michigan), knocking off #14 Coastal Carolina 30-27 on a FG with :00 left.
-
Well see if Coastal Carolina falls out of the AP Top 25, and if not, how far they'll tumble. They weren't ever going to get into the Playoff, but probably the second biggest win for App State (a distant second).
Clemson, who fell out of the Top 25 (No 26, still ranked in the coaches poll) has a valid chance to return with a win in Pittsburgh.
Last week's Top five include: Georgia, Cincinnati, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Ohio State. The bigger story will be seeing where the CFB Playoff committee slots the Bearcats during those rankings which should be starting soon
-
It took 9 OTs but Illinois topples #7 Penn State 20-18. Elsewhere, no. 2 Cincinnati and #3 Oklahoma overcome halftime deficits to win their respective games.
-
No League Championship Game Sevens this season as Atlanta joins Houston in the Fall Classic after both Pennant winners took care of business immediately upon their return home (Game 6).
It would have been a shocker IMO if Atlanta blew it again, but only with injuries to LA's main pieces. With Los Angeles being the 28th team booted from the 2021 season, there will be a new champion. Either it's Atlanta winning something for the first time in over a quarter century or Dusty Baker finally getting it done (and Houston winning the title likely without major controversy)
-
Sorry for the OT post. I'm not sure how I ended up posting Baseball stuff in the College Football field. I guess 2-3 hours of decent sleep in the past 48 hours doesn't help, but nevertheless, I'm surprised about the content of my above post
I likely meant to post stuff related to Penn State's fall along with Iowa State continuing to roll (against the best) in October. where they're all but undefeated
-
Georgia and Cincinnati remain at 1 and 2 in the AP top 25 while Alabama jumps to no. 3 and Oklahoma drops to no. 4. Ohio State rounds out the top 5. Georgia has Florida this week at the World's Largest Cocktail Party (CBS, 3:30 ET) while Cincinnati visits Tulane (ESPN2, 12 noon ET) and Bama has the bye before their tilt against LSU November 6.
-
Two days after their home loss to Kansas State, the Texas Tech Red Raiders have dismissed football coach Matt Wells and have appointed offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie to be the interim head coach the rest of the season.

That's a bit surprising (or was); Texas Tech is one win away from being Bowl Eligible. To be fair, it's been going downhill overall so that's that. Their remaining games include Iowa State, Oklahoma State, and Baylor, following a road game at Oklahoma. Very possible that the Red Raiders going winless down the stretch

Cincinnati is getting a ton of love, and they deserve it. Man, imagine a Group of Five team being number one. They'd need Georgia to lose for that to happen. I don't think the Bulldogs will lose before the SEC Title game. It would be the Bearcats best shot at being Number One. Sadly, by then, teams like Oklahoma and the Big Ten leader will jump them before it can happen. That, and if it's Alabama that can topple the Bulldogs in the 30th SEC Title Game, then they probably would reclaim the top spot (with help including the Big 10 and Big 12 killing each other).
The biggest question to be answered will not be answered until Tuesday (November 2nd). That is the first official release of the College Football Playoff Rankings. The Bearcats were sorta cheated out of a spot last year; however, no Group of Five team has made it in. At one point, Cincinnati was a Power SIX team so it would be fair enough if they get in this year. They were undefeated in 2009, but got passed over for Texas and Alabama (right call). Then they got killed by then reigning champion Florida (defending for a minute in Early 2010) without the head coach that led them there.
While the CFB Playoff rankings will be the measuring stick over the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll, three well-respected people in Pollack, Galloway, and Herbie all have Cincinnati in their Top 3 They also have Ohio State ahead of Michigan, and that is totally cool since they'll play each other later this season. If Michigan wins for the first time in a decade against Ohio State, then they'll pass them (unless they somehow lose 2+ games before the Big Game)
-
Michigan State jumps to no. 5 in the AP top 25 after topping no. 6 Michigan. Wake Forest enters the top 10 after thrashing Duke.
-
CBF Rankings in about an hour and a half. It will be interesting to see how high Wake Forest goes, if Cincinnati is in the Top 4, and if Ohio State will be ranked higher or lower than Michigan State

Cincinnati ranked #6 is completely unacceptable. (http://[tweet)
-
Cincinnati ranked #6 is completely unacceptable.
Yeah, it's messed up, but the fact is Cincinnati at No. 6 is completely non-shocking. I could see their exclusion from the Top 4 coming many miles and several weeks ago. It is disappointment since they were so high on the AP and Coaches polls. There was even a debate that they'd be No 1 had it not been for Georgia.
As soon as they revealed Alabama at No 2, I knew that it wasn't happening for the Bearcats. They haven't lost a game in a while, and yet, they have to win out and get help. That's without counting the fact that Notre Dame has to keep winning. By the way, with Michigan State and Ohio State ranked over them, that doesn't help. Lastly, the likelihood of Wake Forest , and to a greater extent, Oklahoma jumping them remain a grand possibility
-
It's upset Saturday, that's for sure! Two Top 10 teams, both unbeaten, fell to unranked opponents on the road. With Michigan State and Wake Forest both losing to Purdue & North Carolina, respectively, the aftermath leaves two more Power Five conferences without a "perfect to this point" team. Georgia & Oklahoma are holding for the SEC & Big 12, respectively. Wake Forest probably had little to no shot anyway, and Michigan State isn't gone yet. They'll have to survive against Ohio State and get a little help, but the ACC is officially dead in terms of the CFB Playoff (a first since Day 1 for the conference).
Alabama, Ohio State, Oregon, Cincy, and as mentioned, Georgia hold and should be okay in terms of the rankings. Cincy gets some help but sorta said no thanks after barely surviving
-
In a rather rapid revelation, not too much changed in the Top Spots within the rankings. Basically Michigan State getting bumped out of the three spot & everyone else moving up behind them. Despite beating Michigan, the committee put the Spartans behind the Wolverines.
Georgia, Alabama, Oregon, Ohio State, Cincinnati, Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma State round out the Top 10. Highest Group of Five spot ever, I believe

Oklahoma's hopes of a playoff spot got significantly hampered with a 27-14 loss to Baylor, notching the Sooners' first loss of the season. Meanwhile, Bryce Young of Bama pads out his Heisman resume throwing for 5 TDs in their 59-3 trouncing of New Mexico State.
-
The 3rd College Football Playoff Rankings remained unchanged from the previous week, mainly the Top 7. With Oklahoma and Texas A&M both losing, the remainder of the Top 12 from the second rankings moved up. The Sooners are out of the Top 10, and the Aggies dropped. I wouldn't be shocked if Notre Dame can jump Cincinnati, but it'll probably have to happen in the next two rankings (and pretty much will if the Bearcats lose)

Cincinnati beat Notre Dame earlier this season, so very likely Cincinnati would have to lose and Notre Dame win out for that to happen.
-
If Cincinnati and Notre Dame both finish as 1 loss teams, Cincinnati would be ahead of Notre Dame for the same reason Oregon would be ahead of Ohio State.
Cincinnati even as an undefeated still needs some help. The Sooners are out of the picture and won't pass Cincinnati from behind, but Cincinnati still has to pass some people. If Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, and any 1 of the Big Ten trio finish as one loss teams, then your four playoff teams will be Georgia, Alabama, Oregon, and the Big Ten Champion. Cincinnati got some help when Baylor sent the Sooners to the grave but they need some help ahead of them.
Also, they won't make the playoffs as they have 3 losses, but a shout out to Wisconsin for doing a fantastic job of turning their season around. After starting 1-3 with a couple of blowout losses, the Badgers have won 6 in a row and are playing excellent football. Perhaps Wisconsin could get something like the Citrus Bowl or the Outback Bowl.
-
Georgia demolishes Charleston Southern 56-7, but the touchdown CS scored was rather daffy. Southern had the ball and QB Jack Chambers threw a pick. The Georgia player lost the ball to Southern WR Garris Schwarting who took it 65 yards for a score. It was thought the Georgia player's knee was down but the play did not get reviewed.
-
That should've been reviewed automatically. Though it probably changes nothing since the game was over and it wasn't a big deal outside of the maintenance of the shutout.
Ohio State's backup also turned it over, and Michigan State scored to avoid a shutout.
The Buckeyes and Georgia were up 98-0 at halftime against their respective foes. OSU is more impressive since Michigan State is a Big 10 school within the Power Five.
The division titles are on sight for the Tide and the Panthers at their home stadiums. IOW, The SEC West and the ACC Coastal for Alabama & Pitt, respectively. Outside of that game, it'll be a downer if Clemson backdoors into the ACC Title Game. Which is odd to say, but it's a down year for the Tigers, while Wake Forest was rolling until they ran into North Carolina
-
Cincinnati beat Notre Dame earlier this season, so very likely Cincinnati would have to lose and Notre Dame win out for that to happen.
Yeah, I agree. I just wouldn't be surprised if it happened. Especially off of SOS & ND's play today. However, Cincinnati is doing very well this weekend. The committee is probably hoping the Tide, Buckeyes, and Ducks keep winning for another 2 weeks.
It's amazing how there's often-to-always one GOF team only that seems to rise to the occasion & never lose for 2 years (UCF was that program a couple years prior). Of course there was TCU & BSU in 2009 - 2010, but that was the BCS era where even Power Six undefeated schools didn't make it in!
-
Oregon's chances of getting a seat at the table took a hit after #22 Utah's 38-3 trouncing of them. Ohio State and Cincinnati should be sitting pretty come the next rankings.
-
Correction: that score was 38-7.
-
Florida coach Dan Mullen receives some parting gifts after the Gators drop to 2-6 in SEC play, losing to Missouri last night in OT. Thanks for playing, Dan.
-
The Fourth College Football Playoff Rankings, which we knew would feature 2 teams that would drop big time, are headlined with Georgia as the top team of course. However, Ohio State jumps Alabama, not a surprise. The bigger story? Cincinnati is in the Top 4!
Wake Forest fell from the Top Ten in addition to Oregon and Michigan State. Baylor enters the Top 10, and in a Playoff first, we get our first Group of Five team into the Top Four with the Bearcats as the 4th place team as of 11/23/2021.

#2 Ohio State has been excused from the table after #5 Michigan topples them, 42-27. The next playoff rankings should be interesting as to how far Ohio State tumbles.
Meanwhile, Georgia has been installed as a 4-point favorite over Alabama in next week's SEC Championship (CBS, 3:30 PM).
-
Georgia is playoff bound no matter what happens in the SEC Championship Game next week.
Alabama, Michigan, and Cincinnati all control their own destinies next week. If these 3 teams win their conference championship games, we have our 4 playoff teams.
If one of those 3 in the above paragraph lose, the door opens for Notre Dame.
-
Michigan now takes spot no. 2 in the AP top 25. Cincinnati, Alabama and Oklahoma State round out the top 5. Ohio State drops to no. 7.
-
Georgia is still number one. They will be the first of 4 teams headed to the College Football Playoff. It should be close to business as usual; chaos happens, but I'd be stunned if everyone loses (Alabama, Michigan, Cincinnati).
Top 10 includes: Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Baylor, Oregon, Cincinnati
-
Can't see Michigan losing (line has them giving 10 and a hook), but the 6-1/2 Georgia is giving Alabama is rather tasty candy. Could be an upset if Bryce Young did what he did against Auburn late in that game. My nephew is a Georgia fan and even he's calling it 31-17 Alabama.
-
Well, Utah basically emulated whatever they did to Oregon earlier this year. For their efforts, they should be headed to their first ever Rose Bowl 4 weeks from now.
Meanwhile, can't say the same for Oklahoma State, who had more prestigious destinations than the Fiesta Bowl. No CFB playoff for the Cowboys, and no Fiesta Bowl either. They could be okay for a NY Six spot, but that will be tough. Baylor might get Houston if they can pull off the upset.
Michigan should win against Iowa, but right now I will not be shocked if they lose. Iowa has a great defense. IMO, unless it's absurd, I'll go for the O/U.
Alabama I think can win ATS, but not outright. Georgia is too good and should make the Tide regret losing to A&M.
I will not be surprised at all if Pittsburgh loses despite yours truly thinking they'll win (since their defense is more of a threat than Wake Forest)
-
The most points Georgia has given up this season is 17 against Tennessee. Alabama has blown that out of the water with a 24-17 halftime lead in the SEC title game.
-
Cincinnati, Geogia, and Alabama are in. Michigan is in with a win. For the next three hours Notre Dame is biggest Iowa fan in the world. An Iowa upset of Michigan and Notre Dame makes it. If Michigan wins and Notre Dame doesn't make the playoffs, I wonder if Notre Dame would consider declining their bowl bid with the coaching transition and all that going on.
-
And so it is. The 2021 College Football regular season and conference championship games are all in the books.
My seeding predictions.
1. Alabama.
2. Michigan.
3. Georgia.
4. Cincinnati.
My Heisman vote, if I had one, would go to Bryce Young.
A big thank you to the players, coaches, teams, and broadcasters who helped make the 2021 College Football season a success. Looking forward to Bowl Season.

It's either that or Michigan, Alabama, Cincinnati, and then Georgia. Notre Dame losing its Head Coach probably didn't help, but fortunately it is a moot point
-
Bryce Young has the Heisman locked. The way he played against Georgia yesterday was insane.
-
Stand by for playoff seeds.
-
ESPN is revealing them in reverse. There is no drama this year, but history is now official
ETA: Playoff seeds (Alabama vs. Cincinnati & Michigan vs Georgia). Notre Dame & Ohio State finished 5th and 6th, respectively

On Sunday, December 5th, 2021 at 12:27 PM EST, the eighth College Football Playoff has been set. 1467547153195229184[/tweet]]Alabama, back to a familiar spot, will “host” Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl (http://[tweet) on New Year’s Eve, while 1467547598995267589[/tweet]]Michigan will “host” Georgia in the Orange Bowl (http://[tweet) on the same date. No kickoff times yet, but I guess the Orange Bowl precede the Cotton Bowl 3 weeks from Friday as of this post.
Alabama regains its outright record in terms of CFB Playoff appearances (after Clemson tied them in 2019). Georgia, the second ever SEC team to participate in the playoff, is making their second appearance.
Michigan & Cincinnati are the 12th and 13th different team participating in the College Football Playoff since its inception in 2014. Michigan is the third Big 10 team participating, while Cincinnati is the first Group of Five team as mentioned several times everywhere. As a result of that, College Football has its sixth different conference representation. Naturally, Cincinnati was a part of a Big 6 conference when the Big East was a big deal prior to early in the last decade when the Big East split to the ACC, the AAC, and the New College Hoops Big East.
As for the other four New Years Six bowl games, including the Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl, those are slated to be announced around 2:30 PT EST. I’m guessing the Rose Bowl is all but set with Utah vs Ohio State. Pittsburgh likely Peach Bowl Bound since the Orange Bowl is a semi final this year. Ole Miss should or could be Sugar Bowl Bound, and maybe Baylor to the Fiesta Bowl. Everything else will be disclosed by the end of the weekend. That includes the rest of the rankings and the complete 42 or so bowl games. Finally, Bryce Young's win next Saturday the Heisman announcement for the 2021 winner will occur on Saturday, December 11th, 2021. That is 30 days before the National Championship on Monday January 11, 2022 on ESPN
-
The early lines: Alabama giving 13-1/2 against Cincinnati and Michigan a 7-1/2-point underdog to Georgia. 23 days to see those numbers fluctuate.
-
Sorry for not posting a ton of other stuff as it relates to College Football, including the Bowl Game Matchups, coaching changes, etc. Rather unique week; I hope to do so tomorrow or Monday at the latest.
Grass is green. In other news, Bryce Young is the 2021 Heisman Trophy Winner. Plus, my pick of Army over Navy is not a spoiler, but just a prediction since they have to play the game. Navy ATS though; I think they can keep it close.
Kenny Pickett was a glorified dream to win it this year. Got pimped somewhat, while Alabama was struggling. He actually was putting up great numbers, but Young actually did well. Yeah, I guess Mac Jones played better last year, but when Adams wasn't available for Bryce, you'd have to factor all of that IMO. Didn't help that PITT played opposite the Big 10 title game.
Still a great year for Pickett, as well as Stroud & Hutchinson. As mentioned, it's Young, and take away Kenny (or not), I'm so happy for the call (which will be truly official by 9 PM EST)
-
Bryce Young is now officially your 2021 Heisman Trophy Winner and it was a massive blowout. Here are the final voting results.

Totally expected, but Burrow's win had that feeling of a much, much, bigger rout than Young's victory. One could have successfully defended that they didn't even need to send any other finalists to New York. Still, this year's results, while not as clear-cut as the 2019 results, were definitive enough.
Alabama still has to win the game or games left for the 2021-2022 season by on-field performance, but if you believe in trends, The Tide will repeat. Every Heisman win for Bama results in a National Championship to conclude the season for the Tide
-
Alabama will play Cincinnati without WR John Metchie, who hurt himself last week and S Josh Kobe. Line remains 13-1/2, which Indicates the loss of the two will not have much of an impact.
-
Predictions for the CFP games Friday (from the Take With A Grain of Salt research files): Bryce Young will show why he won the Heisman. He will pants the Cincinnati secondary and take their lunch money. Michigan will make a game out of the Orange Bowl against Georgia, but I think the Dogs pull it out.
I won't call the National championship even once the teams are determined (that's how godawful I am), but the site FiveThreeEight is giving the nod to Georgia.
-
It will be Alabama and Georgia in both a rematch of the SEC title game and the National Championship on January 10. They're saying Georgia is a slight favorite. We'll see when Vegas puts the line out officially.
-
While Georgia gets their revenge against Alabama, the latter did hit the injury bug. However, injuries are part of the game; I thought Georgia was going to do this to the Tide last month though!
-
Congratulations to the Georgia Bulldogs on winning the 2021 National Championship. It seemed for years that Georgia was always 1 of the better teams in College Football but never quite 1 of the best. This year Georgia is THE best team in College Football. It really shone through in that 4th 1/4 who the better team was, so it's Glory Glory to Ole Georgia in the 2021 season.
-
Unlike the 1981 title game (Sugar Bowl), where the Georgia passing game was negligible (Buck Belue was 1-13 for 7 yards), Stetson Bennett came up huge here. Bryce Young had better basic numbers but he had two INTs to Bennett's 0. Ah, they're dancing on the streets of Athens tonight.
-
Added note: when Kelee Ringo caught the deal-sealing pick, Georgia coach Kirby Smart was telling him to go down so he wouldn't risk fumbling the ball. Ringo obviously wanted pay dirt.
-
The AP Top 25 post-championship is out, and where did national champ Georgia rank? No. 3, behind two-loss Alabama (#1) and two-loss Ohio State (#2). Conventional wisdom says it's way too early to put that out, so we'll see how things play out between now and September.
-
That's interesting. I finally obtained time to look at the AP Top 25 (figured that it was released no later than Wednesday morning). I saw that Georgia was ranked Number 1, with Alabama at No 2, Michigan at 3, and Cincinnati at 4.
I'll have to reload that to make sure it wasn't the Coaches poll, Ccook. However, there's a chance you were looking at a Way Too Early 2022 Ranking
Here are your final / Week 16 Rankings from the AP Site (https://apnews.com/hub/ap-top-25-college-football-poll)
ETA: The Final 2021-2022 Ranking
-
Here's the USA today coaches poll, which is largely the same towards the top except for having Ohio State ahead of Baylor. It has Georgia at 1. There's no realistic way for any end of year not to have Georgia 1.

-
My error. It was ESPN's top 25, which compared with the AP and Coaches poll is completely meaningless.
