Wow - we almost got through an entire show without a single trip.

I liked the Buzz Aldrin showcase. Yes, even though he can't read copy, it's Buzz Aldrin... you've got to give the man the benefit of the doubt... he's Buzz freakin' Aldrin! He beat up a guy for claiming that NASA faked the moon landing for pete sake.

And did anybody catch the end of the show, where our winner kissed Buzz on the lips?

Buzz should know after all he was the 2nd man ever to walk on the surface of the Moon.

Sheesh.

Pretty boring show today except for the Buzz Aldrin Showcase. I agree that Drew yealling 'Windsor' was extremely annoying, I think we got the picture. Another thing that I think made this show bad was the fact that ZERO classic cues were played, what a shame it is that Stan just seems to ignore all that great music.

The lineup took a big hit to accommodate Mr. Aldrin. At least put a 3-prizer if not Danger...

Pocket was just so unlucky...Greco probably felt like she hit the jackpot.

IUFB#1:  Drew yelling "Windsor!" over and over again was really annoying.
Cover Up:  Tough loss! :-(
Pocket Change:  Too bad! :-(  I think they should get rid of some of the nickels & dimes and make them larger amounts.
Showcases:  What a cool showcase that Buzz Aldrin showcase was!

Pretty good show overall, IMHO.

But what else could he really do?  Anna ran up on stage and Windsor was standing there dazed in Contestants' Row.  Short of waving a banner, I don't know what else he could have done.

Yeah, I don't think Drew was yelling "Windsor" over and over for the people watching, or because he was excited... he was trying to get the real winner up on stage!

And that Buzz Aldrin Showcase was great. Even though it included two trips, they were (IMO) good trips.

It got really annoying when Drew kept on saying Windsor i think we got the point.

I give today show a C.

Why some of you may think that Drew yelling Windsor was annoying, he was just doing his job.  You have Anna getting up on stage and it wasn't supposed to be her.  Windsor had no clue what was going on.  Unless the winner's light behind contestants row is gone now too, Windsor wasn't paying attention to his podium either. What was Drew supposed to do?  He did the right thing.  I know Drew does some annoying things, but don't start harping on him for doing his job!!!

Drew could've handled the "Windsor  moment" better than he did. Rather than saying "Windsor" repeatedly, why not say, "Wait, we have the wrong contestant on stage!...(and then go from there--or something similar)..." Take charge, explain what's going on, and do so by using more than one word. Saying "Windsor" umpteen times isn't the best way to handle that.

I would have humorously pointed out Anna's bid, and Windsor's bid, and asked if she was named Windsor. Would have been funny, less annoying, and taken the same amount of time.

I would've lost Balance Game.  I thought the golf cart alone was over $10,000.

Wow, I can't believe 5 was the fourth number in the price of the car in Pocket Change.  That totally came out of nowhere.  He got it right on his second guess, but the game still resulted in a painful loss.

The Buzz Aldrin showcase was awesome.  This ranks up there as one of the best we've seen in the Drew Carey era, if not one of the best of all time.  It was also great to see Diana win that showcase so that she could meet and kiss Buzz, and even let Buzz sit in her new car.

My showcase bids:
Room/waverunner--$28,107
Car--$38,107

I don’t know why everyone was complaining about Drew repeating Windsor’s name over and over. Neither she nor Anna were paying much attention. Let the man do his job!

Grand Game still doesn't do much for me being first. John can add another first game loss to his spreadsheet.

I still love that contestant shot in Balance Game.

Pocket Change was just rough.

I want the second showcase. That was just cool.

Did some of you even watch the show???

He wasn't saying Windsor's name just because he thought it was funny.  Even if he had said something besides Windsor's name it's not like Anna would have heard it anyway.  And if he had let Anna come up on stage it just would've been edited and re-shot and certainly don't want that.

He handled it correctly and the contestants corrected themselves, no edit.  It made for a funny little segment.

By the way, the Buzz Aldrin showcase is probably my dream showcase.  Nothing could ever outdo the experience of witnessing a LIVE shuttle launch.  To me, it's one of the truest examples of American ingenuity and patriotism.  One of the best showcases I've seen in a long time.

See, if that had been me up for the golf cart, first thing I would have told Drew was "I hope I spin a dollar on the Wheel, because I'm gonna need some extra money to put a good paintjob on that golf cart... preferably #5, or #29".

Well, this certainly was a bummer of an episode.  Drew didn't host very well, and the Showcase was...well...bad.

The proper way to handle the wrong contestant coming out of Contestants' Row is not to do nothing but stand there and shout the actual winner's name 13 times.  Really, doing just about anything else would have been better.

Drew telegraphed the reveal in Grand Game again today.  He's been better about that this year, but it shouldn't be happening at all.

Drew went through Balance Game like he wanted to be anywhere in the world except Studio 33.

Did anyone think Drew showing off his temporary tattoo during Pocket ¢hange was a little bizarre?

The Showcase, unfortunately, was awful.  I'm sure it was exciting to have Buzz Aldrin in the studio, but to be frank, he came off as a doddering old man who's never done public speaking before in his life.  That's not the way I want to remember him.  I was extremely embarrassed for him, and I'm amazed that so many people in this thread thought his showcase was so good.

This lineup bothered me.  Thursday's show has already aired, and it also has Balance Game and Pocket ¢hange in it.  I really hope they aren't planning these things around the shuffled schedule...or really, I hope they aren't doing that at the expense of the actual episode order.  I'm certainly interested now to see what will be on 4861K.

But what else could he really do?  Anna ran up on stage and Windsor was standing there dazed in Contestants' Row.  Short of waving a banner, I don't know what else he could have done.

Let's pretend for a moment that Bob never retired.  This is probably about how the end of the first Item up for Bids would have gone:

"Six-oh-one.  The actual retail price issss $1,310, and Windsor is our winner...no, no!  It's Windsor!  Anna, she bid higher than you!  She bid higher than you!  Get back down there!  Noooooooow here comes Windsor!"

That's what else could have been done.  And I'm sorry, but any of you who are saying that Drew handled it "well" or "correctly" are wrong.

Well, if nothing else, Diana was obviously really excited about seeing Buzz Aldrin.  On the other hand, like Steve said, it felt like an embarrassment to the man.

Anna was quite enjoyably getting into the whole Cover Up presentation there, essentially modelling the numbers and board :).

I have to make an interesting observation here. In Balance game, I had to assume that the guy was going to lose the game, because I didn't think $9,090 was the right price for the his/her golf club sets & the ltd edition golf cart, but the guy won! $9,090 seems like it's an unusual price to me for something like that. I just wanted to point that out!

One Bid 1: Ah, the mistaken-win blooper...

Grand Game: That is some expensive butter!

Balance Game: For a moment, I thought 9090 would be too heavy. I was wrong.

Cover Up: Joe C. got my thoughts and words exactly on the button.

Double Prices: Oh, I don't need another fix of this game. I picked $5293 as well.

Pocket ¢hange: Aough! That one missed chance...

One Bid 6: Aough! I wanted Amanda to bid 1691....

1 Right Price: I think I dislike the monitor in the middle displaying the game now... Anyways, an easy pick.

Showcases: Buzz Aldrin? For a moment, I thought Price was doing that "desperate to get ratings up by having celebrities of any kind on the show". Maybe they were. I think that Showcase was okay. And I kinda think Buzz can be a ringer for Bob in a way. (I as also monitoring the amount of trips on this episode.)

There are plenty of worse ways to handle it...

1.  Allow the wrong contestant to play the game.
2.  Play insult comic and make the confused person on stage feel even more like an idiot.
3.  Call for a stop-tape.

No, desperate would be inviting Jack Wagner on... twice... oh wait.

Seriously, though, they didn't even advertise it. Drew didn't mention a special guest in the showcases during the entire show. If it was a ratings ploy, said guest would be plugged over and over and over again, throughout the show, and we might see some advertising prior to the show's airdate.

There was not even an article about Mr. Aldrin's appearance on the show.

So here we have cold, hard evidence that we get short lineups on now when we have special guests. Woohoo. And I really hate to say it, I love Buzz Aldrin but I agree with Steve and the few posters after him - that was really an awkward showcase to watch. Because he read so slowly, it was also really unnecessarily long too - the entire showcase lasted 5 minutes! For one showcase. Today when every second counts, that is way way too long. That being said, loved his prize package, and the prize package in showcase 1 was nothing to sneeze at either - that was one nice, expensive bedroom! Also, Steve, I have a theory (that may or may not be correct) about the switched episode dates and the fact that Balance Game and Pocket Change were played twice in the same week: Really, the only explanation is that they had so many special guests in one week that they needed to play some of the same short games twice, and therefore needed to shuffle the lineup around for solely that reason. Or maybe they did us to spare our sanity of having the awful Dollyrots on Monday, Buzz on Tuesday and Verizon on Thursday. Either way, the fact that they're shuffling airdates around solely for special guests now with no logical reason kinda worries me.

Pocket Change was just depressing. Every once in a while, a contestant plain gets ROBBED in that game, and today was one of those days.

Timings:
Grand Game (5) - 3:55
Balance Game (4)- 3:43
Cover Up (5) - 4:39
Double Prices (3) - 2:28
Pocket Change (5) - 5:29
One Right Price (3.5)- 2:51
Total (25.5 - ugh): 23:05 (ugh)
