First IUFB: iPad, iPod touch, iPhone and MacBook (Apple; 16GB, 32GB, 1-year 2GB/month plan respectively; ARP: $2,776) (Manuela and Lanisha)
Rebecca is playing the brand new pricing game Pay the Rent for $100,000! (Rachel and Lanisha) Here are the directions. There are six grocery items, but it is not simple pricing order! There are four levels: The ground floor (the mailbox), the first floor (the sofa and the stove), the second floor (the TV and the bathtub), and the attic (the safe). You put one grocery item in each spot, which means one in the mailbox, two in the first floor, two in the second floor, and one in the attic. The first item goes in the mailbox. You automatically bank $1,000 on the first item. The items on the first floor, in the sofa and stove, must add up to be more than the item in the mailbox. If right, you win $5,000. The items on the second floor, in the TV and the bathtub, must add up to be more than the total of the items on the first floor only. If right, you win $10,000. The item in the safe must be more than the total of the two items on the second floor only. If right, you win $100,000. You can choose where you want to stop. If you are wrong at any level, you lose everything.

The First Four Wall of Shame looks serious. A big polished granite wall with the photos of all the First Four failures previous. Being serious is the same whether the notation is good or bad. It's not what Bradley, who has been stuck on the orange podium from the start, wants to take from this experience. Sixth IUFB: Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (Rock Band and Guitar Hero sets, total 12 games; ARP: $2,082) (model)

Am I the only one who thought the tub in Most Expensive was a slam dunk?
CBS doesn't seem to have the episode up yet (and their entry page for TPIR wants me to have Flash 9 when I already have Flash 10...um, what?), so I can't watch yet.
miking the Beauties:-o
(If they found a use for those spinning dollar signs somewhere on the set, I wouldn't mind. They're pretty neat.)

The most important thing: the least expensive item DOES NOT GO ON THE BOTTOM!!!
EDIT: Upon even further investigation, it wasn't winnable. No possible combination of amounts would have been able to combine to less than $7.30.
I noticed today during the pay the rent game, JD read the products name during the description of the products. Is the going to be a permanent thing now or just during the announcer rotation?
What was up with the small dollar sign on the floor?
Granted, they could use a simple black piece of tape. However, somebody might've thought it looked bad -- a piece of tape out in the middle of a white stage often does.
Also, did anyone else notice this: there was a lady shown on-camera right before Vonice came up on stage (one of her group I assume) who was wearing an "I <3 Rich Fields" T-shirt? I thought that was interesting
I'm really surprised nobody mentioned the change in the credits, specifically regarding the EP role... you finally get your answer to who was hired to work with Richards (or supposedly, keep him in check), and nobody noticed. All that summer insane speculation just tides us over, who cares now? Lol
Outside of the problem of the prizes being too hard to win for it being a season premiere, the biggest problem with this episode was Drew's hosting. He just coasted his way through this episode, including his tired "Who do you want to say hello to?" at the wheel. After three full years on the job, I expect better than "not being actively bad," and Drew just isn't delivering. Based on the premiere, season 39 promises to be more of the same of what they gave us last season, so if you've been enjoying what the show has turned into, you'll be satisfied. But I expect more entertainment than this.
So, who is Tracy Verna?
Ugh! Those shout-outs at the wheel are beyond annoying at this point. It may be nice for the contestant, but the entertainment value for the audience is zero.
Whatever happened to "the focus should be on the contestant!" I'm not saying that you ever said that, but the show will never win. We will always complain that we put either too much or not enough focus on the contestants...
Does the Wheel seem like it's...I don't have a word for it...but I guess "tighter" to anyone else? It seems like when it slows down much faster.

“Let’s offer a huge prize that we can’t possibly afford to give away and then make it completely impossible to win”. That seems to be the M.O. of the powers that be at TPIR these days. Pay the Rent has been discussed to death already in Talk Is Right, but today’s playing is a textbook example of how counterintuitive the game is. The same approach that would have won the contestant $10,000 would almost certainly lose anyone $100,000. By making the game intentionally deceptive, they guarantee that they will never actually have to give the money away. The same thing happened in the showcase today. Porsche Boxters are only worth about $55,000 fully loaded. This means that in order for that showcase to breach near 80, they had to include a near $25,000 entertainment center/TV package. No one would possibly guess that a TV package would cost that much so then again they guarantee they don’t have to give away the Porsche. It is getting really irritating to see this so blatantly on display again in the beginning of season 39.
