Price is Right Recaps! / Re: TPiR Recap - 4/16/2024

I always get a kick out of Drew's music references -- and especially enjoyed his B-52's reference today when contestant Claire played ("Planet Claire"). I often wonder how many of these music references actually "land" with Price audiences/viewers -- and how many have no idea what the heck he's talking about!  :D

i don't blame you for not knowing, especially since Gaggl is a new thing

but the service will be a thing that can be streamed directly to your Twitch channel or YT livestream (licensed from the companies that own the rights, like Fremantle in TPIR's case) using your streaming software of choice (ie OBS)

basically, a legal form of hosting a TPIR:TBE watch party vs struggling to get a PlutoTV feed (or any other Free Ad Supported TV thing) to show up on OBS due to how those sites operate with copyright/piracy prevention

The TALK Is Right / Re: The Price is Right: The Barker Era on Pluto TV

I didn't see anything about this when I did a cursory search on here, but apparently the Barker Era content is being incorporated into something new called Gaggl, where you can (presumably legally) stream episodes on Twitch and such.  It also has interactive elements (trivia at breaktimes, and playalong guessing via chat)

Maybe I'm just getting old and out of touch with the Internet but I have no idea what Gaggl is supposed to end up as

The Price is Right references just kept going! They even played the theme song loudly while Gregory was on the phone with the grandma

What about bidding $666 or a 4 digit amount $x,666? There was one instance of a bidder bidding $665 and the next one purposely bid $667. Myself, I would bid $666 in that situation just to see what Drew's reaction would be, I wouldn't bid that just for the sake of it though.

this isn't something as upper-class as Jeopardy we're talking about.... and at the end of the day, these are just numbers that admittedly get overused elsewhere

isn't there more pressing things we could argue about instead of certain numbers on a show that's about pricing just about anything and everything from gum to cars

(edited to add this)  and if you REALLY want over-use of the 420 in a game show, see Snoop Dogg's take on The Joker's Wild

All true. It seems that voicing my opinion on innocently bidding $420 (let alone, $--69) or bidding $1 higher to win your way on stage (not bidding those numbers repeatedly to no avail) is considered a taboo to some...

Odds are this new soap will be placed within The Talk's timeslot...but only time will tell if this is official.
