Title: Most funniest moment ever.
Post by: jacobr1020 on January 29, 2007, 12:02:53 PM
What do you think was the most funniest moment on TPiR ever? Here's my list.

5. Igancia's freudian slip
4. Yolanda
3. The Nicole Barrington/Thorenson/Thornbrow confusion
2. The damaged Ford Windstar and Rod forgetting to read the plug.
1. Bryan ruining Golden Road on those tools. Although it was stupid, I laughed when he picked 1.

What do you think was the most funniest moment ever?

there's a few I remember.

Nikki breaking the cover of a desk in Season 29.

Nikki not being able to make a folding bike fold.

Like yours, Janice's collision with the turntable and Rod forgetting the plug.

Janice crashing the convertible into door number 3 in the 70's.

I gotta throw in Rachel's classic car crash.

The clip of Janice and the overloaded Amana refrigerator.

Also the clip of Janice modeling the pop-up bar that wouldn't pop-up.

Shane when she wasn't prepared to model the sofa earlier this season.

Shane also had trouble with a piano cover and couldn't get it to slide back.

The contestant a couple years ago who not only spun, but also pulled the wheel in Safe Crackers causing it to break.

The contestant who pressed the button in Flip-Flop.

The contestant last season who ran all over the stage and shook Rich's hand after winning Any Number.

Zane who did a victory dance after winning Push Over on the Season 34 premiere.

I'll post more later if I think of them.

Oops, was there a thread like this? If so, I'm sorry for creating another one.

Anyway, Breton's Flip-Flop playing. He didn't cheat on purpose. Let's be thankful he didn't play Triple Play or Golden Road.

After donating all that money to Sally so he could buy a new search engine, it's nice to see it put to good use.  :-P

Most funniest??  "Funniest" means the most amusing.

I think the funniest moment is the Shell Game player with the woman who mistakenly looked under the first shell.  It only gets funnier from that point, thanks to Barker's handling of the faux pas, because the more she gets prices right, the more obvious it's going to be that she has won.  And Barker's reveal is hillarious.

Wow.  You thought that was funny?  You actually thought a guy winning a prize because he decided to be a showoffish jackass and touch a part of a prop that he clearly wasn't supposed to was funny?

Cripes.

I started a thread much similar to this one; I just can't remember what it was.

Steve, Breton wasn't being a showoff; he just made a mistake, that's all.  It was a very, shall I say, HILARIOUS mistake!!

Here is Breton's Flip-Flop playing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QezIBLK5WHg) for those who want to review it.

I agree that the contestant wasn't trying to be a showoff.  He obviously thought he had to press the button in order to "lock in" his choice.

I could maybe buy that explanation if he had made a choice -- but he hadn't.

I would have to add, as a close second, the playing of "Punchboard" on one of Bob's birthdays:  it was right after the "Second Chance" had been added, and it's clear that Bob didn't realize that the contestant had to give back the money on the second chance.

Then he gets mixed up over how many holes are left, and his exchange with Janice at the end is hillarious.

I've had this on tape since the day it happened.  Someone finally put it on YouTube in three parts.  Here's part one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hs-PlQjwKzQ).

I always thought the Second Chance slips had existed ever since they adopted the normal rules.  Am I wrong?

Well, it was there as of September 1980 (the earliest playing I have).

Anything dealing with Janice's car wrecks or Holly.

- The Shell Game incident.

- Joy's abysmal playing of Ten chances, even if it's mainly for Bob's reaction at the end.

- The same for Clock Game where the contestant made really bad guesses, making Bob have to stop the clock.

- When Janice played Hole in One and the ball went into the hole at a seemingly impossible angle.  ...Actually, I didn't really find that "funny", but more like, "...What?" with a bewildered face.

Rod didn't forget the plug:  Bob didn't give him a chance to because he immediately started laughing and pointing out to the home audience what had happened.

They had to cue Bob to let Rod read the plug.

Who can forget Lavon and Cathy? I realize now that Lavon didn't mean to lose. Neither did Cathy. But I wonder if they're related.

I also have a question: Why do they have to read the plug? I've always wondered that.

{channelling steve g.}:

Please reflect on the word "plug" and you may discover your answer. . . .

{the spirit of steve g. moves on to alight on someone else.}

A simpler answer is that it's how TPIR gets paid. Next time you see a car on the show, read the credits closely. You'll see attribution to the dealership that provided the auto to the show.

That disastrous Split Decision playing where two numbers fell off the board.

I agree with CBSpromoman.  The woman who played Shell Game and the way Barker handled it is probably my favorite all time moment along with that old lady who came up on stage and said "They're young, they'll understand."

That woman who played Shell Game is still on YouTube if anyone wants to see it:

(i'm new here ;) )

Personally I think Breton did that on purpose, playing dumb, same with the Shell Game lady.

My favorite has to be the one I saw on of one of the models (Holly i think?) with the refrigerator/freezer opening itself. It happened twice too.

Because a Ford Focus with no options is WAY cheaper than a Ford Focus with a ton of options.  They have to tell you the options to give you a fair chance to price the car.  (Any true LFAT on these boards will also tell you that not hearing whether or not a car has paint sealant and/or fabric protectant makes it twice as hard to win most car games right off the bat.)

The whole Windstar incident, since I was in the audience, was a circumstance where everyone seemed to forget everything. Bob forgot about the plug being read. The director went through the shots, so they didn't cue Rod. Production forgot that the plug hadn't been read until after the game started. Art Dept. forgot that if you rehearse with the door closed and open it for the show that it will create a difference in the width and the door MIGHT JUST hit the handle on the turntable (which is what happened). It was just one thing after another for that whole thing. Unfortunately, because of the black van, you really missed how bad the dent was and how scratched the van got.

Oh, I can't agree with that.  Debra was clearly mortified after she realized she'd screwed the game up, and Barker clearly had a far better time with her than he did with Breton.

I still think that Breton's Flip-Flop flop (no pun intended) was a lot of fun to watch.  It was just one of those "game show moments gone bananas" moments that sticks out in my head.

Another funny moment in TPiR's history:  Ida's bid of $9000 on a pair of surfboards from the 25th Anniversary special and another contestant bidding $9999 on a popcorn cart several years ago.

Boo-Boo's playing of Grocery Game

Boo-Boo: What's that?
Bob: That's soy sauce. Trust me. It's great on the rocks.
