Title: Underappreciated Guest Announcers (S32)
Post by: Nate Powalie on May 17, 2021, 11:44:40 AM
Once Rod Roddy passed away, we all know about guest announcers took turns until Rich Fields was selected in April of 2004. But I wanted to ask you guys... who was one guest announcer that you think didn't get enough credit/praise for what they did? Personally, I would say Daniel Rosen.

Daniel Rosen was awful. He had no qualities of being a good announcer.

Not to diss on Rich Fields, who did a good job in his 6 years of announcing, but I think Randy West should’ve gotten the job.

You're a brave man. After watching and listening to Daniel Rosen I never wanted him anywhere near a Price is Right microphone again.

My pick is Gene Wood. I think him and Bob  would have had great chemistry together.

I was referencing the guest announcers during S32, so late 2003-early 2004. I mean, yes, Gene Wood, would've been a good announcer for the show.

I liked Burton Richardson, but he was very busy at that time.

I thought Burton Richardson was too cheesy.

I would have selected either Randy West or Jim Thornton.

As for Daniel Rosen, all I have to say is, "Uh, here it comes..."

I think I'd rather have Daniel Rosen than Steve White!

Given his tenure as the Wheel of Fortune announcer, I'd have to say Jim Thorton was underappreciated as a guest announcer for Price in S32. I remember Art Sanders being one of the better candidates also, along with of course Randy West.

To each their own Nate, but you're in a very small minority with Daniel Rosen.

Yes to both. I also need to mention David H. Lawrence XVII (I'm surprised I remembered his full "professional" name!).

I honestly didn't care for Jim Thornton when he was on the show; needless to say, he's doing pretty well with "Wheel".

Didn't he troll and spam this board back in 2004?  I think Marc or John posted about it saying "Welcome Troll".

I thought Jim Thornton was underappreciated at the time of the announcer auditions then.
