February 1973 episode (taped January 1973)
« on: June 29, 2021, 05:28:59 PM »
While this claims to be from 0262D, GSN's tape bug has this recorded in January (would have been February if it was 0262D). Given the Valentine's Day mention in the showcase I think this might be 0235D when tapings caught back up again after the pre-emption.

After february 14th, several additional black lines have been drawn on the yellow floor section in front of Contestants' Row, giving the entire area a pattern of squares. Good chance to be 0262d.

^That change was, in fact, in place by the January 8, 1973 episode (#0191D). Compare this clip to this episode recap.

The GSN bugs are known to have made mistakes. This could very well be one of those cases.

The above is my opinion and mine alone.

To answer your questions: yes, I am a guy and yes, I have a face. (I also have the occasional spurt of weirdness.)

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

Give or Keep's short-lived small font Pricedown column labels are still present at this point. Still, it's remarkable how around $90-$120 was the total through most of its run with the SPs combined, even though the display was capable of displaying up to $999.

Very odd to the majority of a Showcase being various supplies of grocery products like consolation prize pugs before ending with a highly underrated car for the era that GM should have used as the basis towards wooing customers.

And I think it's right. There is no sense in mentioning anything Valentine's Day on a show airing *after* that date.

Compare this clip. No line, no square, 3 weeks before.

That would appear to be an outlier, then, as several other January 1973 episodes (#0193D being the only one currently online with its production slate included) have the pattern of squares as well.

Perhaps the show was briefly experimenting with having the asterisks on a (nearly-)solid-color floor, as would later become permanent in 1978?

Correction: the January 29, 1973 episode, #0221D, also has the lineless floor. This would indeed appear to be a brief, experimental alteration (particularly if the video in the OP is indeed the February 9 episode rather than the February 26 one), as January 25 (#0214D) has the pattern of squares, as does the February 14 (#0243D) episode.
