Although when you think about it, it's not that shocking.  While it is a bit of a surprise, it was one of those "you know what you're in for" type of incidents.

He was an interesting personality and shall be missed.

He was quite the entertainer, to say the least. He will certainly be missed.

This shocked me when I first read about it. He seemed like a good guy, and dedicated to what he did. RIP Steve.

This also took me by surprise when I read it...Steve Irwin was, to say the least, a dedicated environmentalist that cared for animals and would've given his life up for one.  He will be missed.

Wow---this was a shock when I first heard it. At least he left us doing what he loved.

Crickey! It is indeed sad to hear this!

Although, it isn't really a surprise. It's sad, but I mean, the man wrestled with crocodiles, played with cobras and other dangerous animals, it would have been more of a surprise had the man died in a car accident or something. But at least, he died doing what he does best!

R.I.P. Steve!

I heard about it this morning, and I'm not that shocked either. Yes, it's depressing, but he was bound to get it sooner or later, doing all those risky things he did. RIP Steve.

RIP, Steve.  I just heard it on ABC 17 this morning and I was surfing the net.  You will be missed.

It just goes to show that even in this tragic of circumstances it's definitely not going stop people who want to be just like Steve Irwin. Like everyone has said before he died doing what he loved. Yet it's still quite a shock that he's actually gone. What I feel most would have to be his family and of course most importantly to Terri and his children in this tragic time. He definitely made nature regardless of his outrageous antics more fun, exciting, thrilling, nail-biting, shocking, and important to see in our own eyes. May he rest in peace.

(wonders how much Croc One (Steve Irwin's boat) would sell for)

This is sad indeed. It's also a shock. He's always a risk taker when he encounters animals, but this was shocking. He will be missed greatly.

Very sad. From my understanding, he was killed by a stingray fish. I went to the beach about a month ago and I actually saw a stingray while I was swimming in the ocean (Atlantic).

RIP Steve Irwin.

I was stunned when I read the news this afternoon.  He was a great guy who really cared about animals.  At least he died doing what he loved.
