Here's an episode from 1982 where Bert Convy stops by to promote the revival of "Tattle Tales."

1982 ep.

Enjoy!

All I can say about James' showcase bid is OUCH. $20 dollars over. That's painful, not as painful as the $1 overbid from a season or two ago, but still very very painful.

The guys in back told Bob that James looked like Grizzly Adams. He complimentsJames’ beard, after which he explains he works for a shaving company. But not what Bob thinks – he shaves animals. Oops. Once he wins he gets it straightenedout – he sells shavings for rabbit and hamster cages.

That's a load of.....8-)

That's one heckuva second Showcase.  Was the first SC presented "all at once" like other game room/home gym showcases?

I probably have a couple of questions or so about this episode:

1. In the Take Two game which was modeled first, the color tv or the microwave oven. Or did Johnny forgot about the 4th prize that he had to go back and say the description of the last one?

2. Which of the 2 showcases was presented first and whose showcase was given the ARP of theirs (showcase) first?

This last one is more of a comment than a question. Either Dian was thrilled or horrified of the admiration or mugging she got from Bert Convy. She was either thinking "Oh I'm loving this don't stop!" or "Get this crazy man off of me!" You be the judge.

Joe, I've never seen this episode, but I'd guess showcase 1 was presented like (game/pool table/stereo)|(piano).

Yeah, I'd bid about $36,000 on showcase 2 if it were on today. Funny how cetain trip destinations never show up anymore.

It's always funny when a prize turns up in an old episode that's actually much more expensive than it would be today. Case in point, a certain Tappan product from Take Two.

Those Renegade Jeeps were good at tripping people up in Lucky 7. That same Jeep was used when the guy lost on the first digit that very year.

A 17k Showcase and 3 trips was decent for 1982. Higher than some of the budget mode ones we've seen in 2005-06 for sure.

And a Jeep up to 9k then wasn't a cheapie prize either.
