John is from Butler County, PA and looked like he had a prosthetic leg.  While this was never metioned on the show nor on the KDKA blurb (they still call it the Showcase Showdown), I find that totally interesting and cool.

The "Most Expensive Prize Ever" tag was slightly deceptive, although it guaranteed that the third digit was 7 or whatever the highest digit from the clock was going to be.  After all, $86,000 cars have been offered in Golden Road before.

John K is arguably the most decorated officer ever on The Price is Right.  Even his ribbons earned ribbons. :-P

It was great to see a Viper won on the first game!!! That would make her the 4th largest winner on the daytime TPIR!

If Mary would've won both Showcases and that Viper, we would've had ourselves yet ANOTHER NEW DAYTIME RECORD!

EDIT:  If I did my math homework correctly, Mary would've potentially won $154,868!

Golden Road: Woohoo! Golden Road! Woohoo, first win on this game of the season!

Clock Game: Yup, Kevin admits he doesn't know how to play it, and he played it slower than others. And also, he didn't know the moronic "$999 rule". And why is $999 prize so hard to bid on? Let me guess: the side-by-side refrigerator/freezer.

Most Expensive: Damn you, crowd, for cheering for #3! And worse, this episode got more boring after this game.

Secret "X": Yawn... despite the best odds. Why not Shell Game?

That's Too Much: Ouch! She was so close! Still a double yawn... Why not Cover Up or anything like that?

Bullseye: Triple yawn... despite the win here. At least it's good to see it... even when it's played average at best by surveying the crowd.

And I found some people persuading bidders to say $1 or something like that. Possibly youngsters who don't care about anything except giving others or themselves competition and oppertunity to come up onstage.

Showcases: Themes were average at best, both bidders lowballed their expectations, and I don't even care...

After great start, I was afraid that this could bore me. And after either Clock Game or Most Expensive, it started to bore me. More ads, less time for the show. And mediocre lineup after Golden Road or Clock Game. You know what? I can't take much more of this. Roger or Bob or whoever works at the show, CBS, Fremantle or whatever, DO SOMETHING RIGHT!!!

EDIT: And not even any contestant excited me after either Clock Game or Most Expensive.

Ah, yes... the Season 35 debut of Golden Road.  She won the Viper?  YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :-D :-D :-D

Kevin's Clock Game playing was one of the worst I have ever seen.  He started by Willying, and he only went down a little at a time, and even as he went one dollar up, he paused after each one, wasting time.

Golden Road:  The wonderful Golden Road appears for the first time this 35th season of The Price is Right.  The Viper appears again, and it was won again.  Great playing of Golden Road, Mary.

Clock Game:  Kevin was TERRIBLE!  $2000 for patio heaters!  $3800 for a fridge?!  Weirdly enough, I thought he'd say 3800 for the fridge.  Roger set that up to be won so quickly.  What a disaster!

Most Expensive:  To Joe and Jane Plinkos, this was a crapshoot.  I figured it would be the day bed, and I was right.  Barbara, unfortunately this game isn't Least Expensive.

Secret X:  The small prizes were very cheap today, usually there's at least one over $25.  John did a good job.  I would have had the middle and the bottom covered.  I would have lost.

That's Too Much:  I have not seen anyone go over the price in this game in a long time.  Usually they stop too soon.

Bullseye:  I would have said 11 salad beans and won off the bat.  John won anyway, using the rice instead.  Good job.

Showcases:  40k plus for that boat showcase shocked me.  I only bid 18111, meaning I was off by over 22000.  Both showcases were more than I thought they would be, I thought John's would be about 16k, Barbara's no more than 20k.

Golden Road made this a good show today, take that away and it was sorta bleh.

Golden Road-great, great win to kick off the show. That's as good as it gets. Bob sure was in a hurry to get to the end of that road wasn't he? Exciting win.

Clock Game: Horrific, awful, pitiful, pathetic. Take your pick. Probably the worst i've ever seen this played.

Most Expensive: Hard, for myself.

Secret X: The game would have tripped me up. Good win.

That's Too Much: I was afraid Rosa went one too far. Blasted Focus.

We've come to the last game of the day, ol' Rob has already Grecoed, will he have another or will it be painful.
(hopes for a trip to the Giant Price Tag)

Bullseye: Nooooooooooo, its not PAPPY, its Bullseye (funny huh, never thought i'd be sad to see Bully?) Chalk this win up to the audience, John was looking to them the whole time.

Showcases: Now that's what I call a freakin random boat. $40K? Un-bee-liev-able.

The second Bob came in from the audience, I knew we were in for a treat today!!!! And what a treat indeed!!!

Well... aside from Golden Road today, the only other thing that made me happy about today's show was hearing some old timey cues!!! It was totally nice to hear some good 'ol ones in Golden Road.. like cue 89 and cue 75.. and Bhen IUFB cue twice... and not only that... the first showcase cue is one I haven't heard in a while!!! Stan apparently dusted off some of the old carts for today's show! I LOVE IT!! :-D

Golden Road is my favorite pricing game.  The only thing I _don't_ like about it is that, unless the player wins GR and then wins the SCSD, the rest of the show is totally anticlimactic.  When Mary won the game, I seriously thought to myself, "Now I hope she doesn't lose the Showdown to two clueless morons who blew their games."  And you saw what happened.

If the player loses GR, nothing else on the show that day will be that exciting.  If the player wins GR and loses the SCSD, the "big winner" celebrated at the end of the show will have a total about half that of the GR winner.  On the other hand, if the GR winner goes through to the Showcase, there's the potential of a new daytime winnings record, and that's always worth staying glued to the screen to watch.

On a related subject, was that the same Viper seen in the season premiere?

John

Golden Road-YES! YES! YES!  For the second time this season, the Viper was won!  Too bad the rainbow was missing, still a great win though.

Clock Game-$3,800 on a refrigerator?!  That was played horribly might I add.

Most Expensive-I knew that daybed would be the one to pick.

Secret X-I was worried that it would be on the bottom today, at least he won!

That's Too Much!-Rosa was entertaining to watch.  I knew she had to stop at $17,540; but she went past it.

Bullseye-Great to see those flashing lights for the first time this Season.  Good win for John!

Showcases-I bid $18,000 on the showcase with the trip to China, because buisness class tickets were offered on the flight.  I was way off on the second showcase, I bid only $25,000.  My pricing of boats is not good at all.

Overall, a pretty good show today.

Golden Road: That was the biggest win i have ever seen (refer to season 34 opener.)

ClockGame: How can he bid $2,000 on a refrigerator! That's dumb. He should have known that this game only offers prizes that are 3 digits. DUH!

Most Expensive: Or Least Expensive. The audience trick that woman into picing that lawn mower which it was cheap and i said it was the day bed was the most expensive.

Secret X: Gimme a Win! Easy and quick!

That's Too Much: One Price Too Much she should have stop at $17,481 or so.

Bullseye: To Me i would have picked the 2 squeeges to get it over with but he went the long way and got a bullseye off the rice.

Showcases: Cheap Bids & Expensive ARP's. I was shocked when they show that huge huge sailboat.

Overall: 4 + 1 Mary's Big Win in Golden Road = Excellent Show!

Golden Road was fun, granted.  Rosa was enjoyable as well.  But disappointingly, the rest of the show just seemed so very, very average.

It's amazing how, after twelve or so years of no one beating Danielle's old record, we've gotten so many in just the past 2.5 years!  I figured the 7 was most likely right for the Viper in Golden Road.  Since Bob made such a big deal about today's Viper being the most expensive single prize ever offered in the history of the daytime show, and I remember an $86,000+ Viper in either Season 29 or Season 30, I figured the highest number was the most likely to be correct for the Viper.  And it was!

Rosa was fun, obviously excited, and couldn't stand still.  And she is one of the very few contestants to get the "That's too much!" yell right not only for the rehearsal, but for the actual "Go Time" as well!  It seems even most contestants who know how to do it for the rehearsal forget to do it the right way for the actual stopping yell, for whatever reason.  Too bad she didn't win much today.

Yes, but it's kinda' ridiculous to speculate on what there was very very little chance of, anyway:  both showcases today were meant to be very underbid on.  Flukes like the double showcase win on the premiere should not be expected by any means.

Why is the "$999 rule" moronic?  And why would the prize being a side-by-side refrigerator make it harder to bid on?  Most people don't expect refrigerators to be $3800, anyway.

Because Shell Game takes longer to play.

Then you weren't paying attention when this was played last time.  Kevin's only flaws were that he started too high and he wasn't as fast on the draw as one would desire to be.  Other than that, he was fairly compotent.

I swear, why people pounce on every little mistake in every little game is beyond me.
