TPIR Bloopers on youtube.com
« on: May 14, 2006, 01:12:12 PM »
I found these 3 hilarious bloopers on youtube.com that I've never seen anywhere else:

Pushover: The price reveal flap opens up by itself while Bob is explaining the game!

Switcheroo: The contestant ends the game with only 1 right, but then when they reveal the actual price of the car, it turns out that the numbers in the price of the car were not set up the right way! I think the 3rd and 4th numbers in the price were reversed somehow, so it was considered a technical win.

Punchboard: Someone wins all 4 punches, and when they look in the first hole that was punched out, it's empty! So the only thing they can do is give them the $10,000!

I know that Pushover must be from recently, but the other 2 must be from the 80s. Has anyone seen these, and would anyone happen to know dates that these originally aired?

Yes, I have seen all three videos.  They are very hilarious and a great showcase of some technical flubs on TPIR.

Do you have links for those? The only ones I saw were the 10 Chances fiasco(from 5/1) and Avon's exacta Pathfinder win from March.

Here they are:

Pushover:

Switcheroo:

and Punchboard:

Enjoy them!

Now are you talking about the Ten Chances fiasco where the contestant kept using the "1" twice in her 9th chance, and won with her last chance? I actually don't see that on youtube. Do you have a link?

I can't find the Pathfinder exacta or the Ten Chances flub, myself.

Bob doesn't look like a happy camper in the Switcheroo and Punch-a-Bunch flubs.

I do have to say they make the production crew look silly.  But you can't be perfect in 36 years!

I actually noticed that in the Pushover clip, we didn't actually SEE the flap open. But it looked like Bob was going to like point to it to show the contestant what to do, and maybe he opened it up himself by mistake. Can you tell? I noticed that often times, like in today's Pushover, that flap often gets stuck, and is hard to open.

No, he didn't.  It's a well-established fact that the flap opened by itself.
Roger Dobkowitz's Seven Commandments of The Price Is Right:
1. Tape and edit the show as if it were live.
2. Never tell the contestant what to do.
3. Size matters. (The bigger the prize, the better the prize and the bigger the reaction.)
4. All prizes are good.
5. Never do anything on the show that would embarrass a parent with a kid watching.
6. Never put on a prize that would make the show look cheap.
7. It’s the game, stupid! (It’s about the game.)

I had to watch the clip twice, because the first time I wasn't sure if Bob accidentally opened it, or it fell open on its own. But the second time erased any doubt - the flap came open itself...

That would also explain why Bob has such a problem opening it anymore - they obviously have gone out of their way to secure the darned thing so that doesn't happen again (and who can blame them?).

No matter how many times I see Bob run from a contestant it's still funny. I have never seen the Pathfinder clip before and I have to say that is my new "funniest" clip.

I admit, it's funny, as long as he doesn't end up getting hurt... Honestly, I'm still wonder if his escape from that Razorback stage rush might've been what finally "blew out" his tendon... :-?

I love youtube.com-they even have the clip of Bob's first grey hair episode and our favorite Grand Game contestant.;)

BTW: Bob's running from Avon, the moves he made, sorta where like the ones he used in juking and jiving away from Pauline-he's still got those moves he used 26 years ago!!!

Ya know what?  So does www.j-shea.com.

Gee, I wonder where the clip on YouTube came from...

And isn't it suspicious how all those clips are from the same episodes J-shea has, and how they're all edited exactly the same?
