CSS Results for October 29
« on: October 29, 2009, 03:03:53 PM »
The dining room, chef, and string quartet portion of the first showcase were spoiled on priceisright.com. While it's not ALL of the first showcase, it's a good deal of it.

According to the CSS rules stickied at the top of this forum:

Quote
CSS not will be played if...

4. There are spoilers emanating from network press releases or local newspapers which divulge winning amounts and/or items in a particular showcase for a day's program.

There was a spoiler, available to all, but still a spoiler. CSS cannot be played and count. Here's the spreadsheet for those who are curious. Bragging points if you did well.

I think the fact that Paris wasn't spoiled, and based on the bizarre pricing of the trips this season, it should stand (how were we to know it wasn't a $5K trip or a $25K trip?  The spoiled stuff was uber-cheap, anyway).

/And I blew them BOTH and I want it to count!
They can be close at the top, too.

It should count.  We didn't know what day that stuff would show up, and we didn't have all of the prizes.

The dining room and chef descriptions weren't even present on the website.

I'd count it, but I had no idea that even this was out there before the fact (and still have not seen it), so I do not know how helpful it may (or may not) have been.

I do know that in the old FPG days, finding little 'spoilers' was specifally allowed within the rules, so I'd be inclined to let this stand as well.

/And my score was so bad today, I have every confidence in Heels that even he could beat it.

I say that it shouldn't count. I think we've canceled CSS before for one prize being spoiled. I'd like to also point out that a prize in the 2nd showcase, a recognizable refrigerator that has appeared on the show a couple times before, was spoiled in addition to the prizes in the 1st showcase. While the top prize in neither showcase was spoiled, I feel a little fishy that elements of both were, so that's what I'd say - we've canceled for just a car being spoiled before.

I didn't play today, but I agree with Armadillo - in FPG, spoilers were fair game if they were available to everyone. No prices were revealed in this, so more power to you if you found it and did the research.

I saw it last night.  I didn't think it was a spoiler at all.  So, in my unbiased opinion, I think it should count.

Since my CSS days are done (for now), I'd say I can give a totally unbiased opinion on this dilemma. If no prices were revealed, then I don't see why this playing shouldn't stand. The fact that only a few prizes were shown is even more of a reason to count it.

And my score was so bad today, I have every confidence in Heels that even he could beat it.
I don't know about that... I was fairly unimpressive myself, with $17,400/$33,300. What's the verdict?

I agree with Heely. No prices, no shiggles.

And I went over on one myself.

I also don't play on a regular basis anymore due to my schedule, so I can also offer an unbiased opinion.

I saw the clip in question earlier...only thing spoiled was a few prizes that I wouldn't have been able to price anyways. :D

If there were prices revealed, or even the entire showcase, that'd be one thing...but I'd say let it stand. (Granted, it doesn't mean squat to me. :D )

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

I went over so it probably doesn't matter to me anyway :P

But I think it should count, as I think the trip to Paris was the most unpredictable part of the showcase.

My 1600th Post!! :-D

As long as none of the bids or ARPs of the showcases were given away, count it.

20009 / 32009 ... not the worst, I guess. I think I'm not used to a Fusion Hybrid, though.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

If this one counted, this would be my fourth consecutive overbid by just a few hundred dollars in a row.  Man I'm cursed right now counted or not.
