Best Of The Match Game DVD
« on: October 13, 2006, 05:37:42 AM »
The Best Of The Match Game is coming out on a 4-disc DVD set on November 21, from Brentwood Video at an MSRP of $34.49. (Some online outlets may have it cheaper.) It will have some of the show's funniest episodes and moments, a tribute to Gene Rayburn, and the original 1962 NBC pilot with Peggy Cass and Peter Lind Hayes as team captains.

A look at the cover here (via Amazon).

That's sounds like a DVD worth purchasing. I love watching all of the Match Game clips that are posted on youtube. My favorite was when Gene was pretending to flirt with Bob Barker.

Wow...great...a game show finally getting a box set DVD release...

Too bad I hate Match Game. :-P
Roger Dobkowitz's Seven Commandments of The Price Is Right:
1. Tape and edit the show as if it were live.
2. Never tell the contestant what to do.
3. Size matters. (The bigger the prize, the better the prize and the bigger the reaction.)
4. All prizes are good.
5. Never do anything on the show that would embarrass a parent with a kid watching.
6. Never put on a prize that would make the show look cheap.
7. It’s the game, stupid! (It’s about the game.)

Looks great!  Speaking of cheaper outlets, I bought mine on overstock.com, and it's 40% off at just over $21, which I find to be a really good price.  Just a heads up for all of you thinking about purchasing it.

I'm certainly glad myself that Match Game does come to DVD.

I was wondering (either way), is is a complete episode or a compilation of clips? I say complete episodes "for real" & compilation - NEVER!

Why couldn't they put Match Game episodes like the "1st complete season"?

How many episodes will be there in one DVD each?

If each of them will be "complete" episodes, I wonder if they'll have promos that they put for Match Game? I don't know about ticket plugs, I imagine that they will put it in the episodes because I hear they funny monents in the "ticket plug" segment?

I hope that they'll keep the original "end credits". One time I bought a variety show on DVD (I won't mention the name of the title) & they however did not show the original end credits on their show, just end it just like that. This is why I'm picky on that situation.

If original closing credits will be on that, I hope they keep the announcers  voiceover & (possibly I don't know) the might keep the part when announcer says, "Stay tuned for...( show from CBS)".

I hope that put Volume 2 if sales go good.

And of course,....... I hope for once they put TPIR episodes like the complete 1st season & so on.

Do you realize how many discs that would take?

For two ideas;

-Edit out commercials (not the Match Game promos like ticket plug & sponsers by the announcer which should not be edit out)

-As for the "Complete 1st Season" put them on DVD (whatever amount of episodes are there)in volumes (1st box, 2nd box, etc...)

Pitty Playusa.com isnt stocking it yet, I get DVD's from the states there sometimes days before they are even released in America and thats shipped to the UK to.

Says something about thier service.

I bet Fremantle are salavting at the prospect of future DVD releases from the archive they have.

I agree with Patchy.  I think Fremantle knows the goldmine they have in their storage rooms, and they want to cash in.

I think soon to follow will be TPIR, then maybe Family Feud or another popular G-T game.

Although I think future DVD sets will depend on the success of the Match Game DVD set.

I just placed my order for the Match Game DVD and I hope it's everything I imagine it with memorable shows and cool extras.

I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for a TPIR DVD set and other G-T game show sets.

Here's to hoping it starts a trend with other shows too.
