During Grand Game, Drew told Michelle that she "can quite whenever she wants," which, of course, is wrong.  Evidently, he doesn't grasp that you only lose your money if you go for the $10,000 and get it wrong.

Is it, though? Has anybody (in their right mind) actually tried to stop at $10 or $100?

As good as yesterday's show was, today's was even better. Really feeling good headed into the weekend. Today's 4 wins were much more impressive overall than yesterday's - Roo is Roo, 1999 looked so right for the treadmill yet she somehow figured it was wrong, Grand she somehow avoided the evil super expensive Atkins diet shakes, and Squeeze was the only gimme of the day. Throw in a Mercedes in the showcases (even though it wasn't won), a decent guest appearance by Miss America, a really old cue resurfacing - today was just really cool all around.

Timings:
Switcheroo (5.5) - 5:36
One Wrong Price (3.5) - 3:22
Squeeze Play (3.5) - 2:55
Push Over (4) - 3:23
One Away (5) - 5:31
Grand Game (5) - 4:44
Total time (26.5): 25:31

Drew screwed up Switcheroo.  Period.  If anything else had happened, she had grounds for getting the car anyway.

The $1,999 treadmill trick was nifty, especially since somebody was able to figure it out and avoid the super expensive watches.

Never liked one prizers for multiple prizes.  Playing the addition game is really no fun, especially with correct looking answers starting with 7's, 8's, and 9's.

Leslie had the right idea with the car ending in 3 like it did, but he ended up really messing things up when he changed it to $22k.

And although what Drew did with Grand Game was not nearly as big of a slip up, hopefully somebody would have corrected him should she had decided to quit.

Miss America was one of the best showcase presenters we had in a while.

Drew did pretty well in terms of hosting (except a Switcheroo snafu), but the FARTS reared their ugly head this morning.

I laughed.  A lot. Take some Pepto Bismol to fix that.

Is it [wrong], though?

Yes, it is.

Has anybody (in their right mind) actually tried to stop at $10 or $100?

No, because they aren't supposed to be given the chance to.

Well this is news to me, especially after reading the wikipedia page (which I'm assuming you helped write) -- I never did realize that contestants could win $1, $10, or $100 if they choose the wrong item before reaching the $1000 mark.

Is this news to anybody else? I always thought you lost everything regardless of when you lost...

Anyone who loses Grand Game on the first, second, or third guess wins $1, $10, or $100.  This has always been the case.

I'd think you find outside of this forum, nobody would know that.

I'd bet even some regular watchers outside the forum would know that about Grand Game. If I had a dollar for every time Bob said, "...you can go back home to (insert city) and tell all your friends you won one dollar (or ten dollars, whichever it turned out to be) on The Price is Right," I'd be ....well, not rich by any means, but I'm sure I'd have a few dozen dollars.  :P

Edit: Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure the contestants were told what they had won quite often. I just went back and checked the last playing I uploaded, from 2/8/99, ("Grand Game's dark day"), and the contestant lost, and the last thing Bob said to her was, "...but you do have $100 from the Price is Right," before throwing to commercial. A couple other losses I came across revealed similar endings. Certainly not all the time was it pointed out, but more than I realized at first.

...umm... that's not the point of the message. The player is given a chance to stop at $1000; they're not given a chance to stop at $10 or $100. Apparently, unbeknownst to me, the contestant actually gets $1, $10, or $100 if they lose at any time before they hit $1000.

I don't ever remember Bob saying such a thing in his last few years of hosting. He might've, but I'd say again that the normal home viewer probably thinks if they lose at any point, they lose everything.

Or $1,000

Yes, many contestants have stopped at $1,000.
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

Anyone who loses Grand Game on the first, second, or third guess wins $1, $10, or $100.

Anyone who loses on the first guess doesn't deserve to win even $1.  :D

I wonder if that has ever happened - a contestant ending up with just a buck in this game.
