For a while now I've been preaching exactly this change in Gas Money, because it would make the game simpler and keep the contestant from having to commit to once price right away. On top of that, contestants didn't seem to know how to eliminate prices after having picked the one that they thought was the price. I just remember seeing almost every time the game was played, the contestant would pick a price for the car, and then find the actual car price with their first elimination.

Did not catch the edit while watching it; I had to watch it online. That was an awful, awful edit. I can't think of anything that would have been "spoiled" in that shot to warrant having it cut out. Even if there was some bizarro crash zoom or something, leave it intact; it'll be off the screen in two seconds anyway. If someone said/did something inappropriate, drop the audio or blur it. The only other possibility I can think is that the camera was trained on the wrong contestant, but, again, leave it in there.

Now, let's say that they were doing some microediting to shave a few seconds and accidentally trimmed a whole bid. What if that contestant made it on stage? It would be hard to explain that one away that the unseen/unheard bid as being the winner. Standards and Practices would be in an uproar.

The fact that all of this cutting is going on (which I know has been covered to death here) is ruining any spontaneity. Roger said on Stu's show before Christmas that the PM version of Match Game lost all of its feel by editing out the heart and soul of the show: the panelists' banter while writing. Here, the audience participation aspect is noticeably reduced. It has reflected in the way I watch the program, which has been more passive than engaged in the last year or so.

I'm also happy about the changes they made to Gas Money.  Now, it kind of reminds me of an inverse of Five Price Tags ... try to pick all of the wrong prices, and avoid the right price.

I liked Gabriel.  He was enthusiastic without being completely annoying.  I was hoping that he would've won more $$ in Plinko, but I was pleased when he won the money on the big wheel.

When I heard MGHSH for the garden tools, I thought, "Well, here comes Any Number."  Someone got a little too excited.  ;)

Probably one of the best line-ups of the Drew era!  That's great!

However, I totally agree about the rushed feel to the show.  People aren't even "Coming on Down" anymore when watching at home they might as well call it "Jump on Up."  By the time someone leaves their chair, it's on to the next contestent and that's sad.

If Bob was still around he would never allowed this!

Why?  It still looks the same, and it still plays the same.  The only change is that you no longer 'set aside' the price you think is right before picking the four you think are wrong.

Well, if you're a stickler, the prop *does* look a little different. The stand that held the 'set aside' price is no longer there.

Sorry for the double post.

If you're really interested in seeing this game in its current form, offerta, you'll probably get a chance to see it this week. That is, judging by the last two playing dates:
