First hour-long show question
« on: October 23, 2006, 04:52:51 PM »
I had a question for you all. The other day I was looking at pageoclips.com and was watching the clip showing the 2nd half of the first hour-long Price is Right from 1975. Currently, the clip is not on there, but I'm sure it'll come back within the next few days. Anyway my question referred to the showcases. Somehow they claimed the contestant had won both showcases, when she indeed, clearly, did not. I thought you had to be less than $100 away at that time? Cause her difference came to be like $139 Could someone help me out??? Maybe I missed something. Thanks.

Up until around 1998, the rule was indeed less than $100 away to win both showcases. So you're right, she did NOT win both showcases.

Really?  I don't recall Bob saying any such thing, and there certainly wasn't a "Double Showcase Winner" graphic up.

That rule had been in place since early '74. Bob didn't mention it in this show because it looked as if they were up against the clock.

Also, her total winnings clearly showed she only won her showcase.

Well, either he thought it was, or he posted the information for absolutely no reason.
