T.V. Question (Picture Preference)

I recently got a 32" Sony Television and I went into the menu settings to adjust the picture settings to my liking. Well, after doing so, I exited the menu and while watching a show, the picture settings went back to the factory pre-set, without me doing anything.   After doing some research in the picture settings menu, I noticed there is a feature where you can LOCK the settings, so it can't be adjusted unless it's in unlock mode.  So, I tried setting my preferences again and locking the settings.  STILL, the picture went back to preset settings.  Does anyone know why this would happen and how I can stop it?  I've contacted SONY and they told me to make sure the picture settings was LOCKED.  I did.
