Nice wins there in Hi Lo and 1 Right Price. And we came so close to a TP win, which would have been awesome. Hope tomorrow's show goes better.

Wow, with an ARP of exactly $40,000, a contestant could've easily had an EXACTA on that second showcase.

...and then Mike Richards would've been laying some bricks.

His fault for allowing a showcase with an exact ARP on it.

Good show today. Triple Play should have been won. It was fairly easy, but she got talked outta it. boooooooo!

I thought Hi Lo was actually pretty tricky today. I would have never guessed that pie was almost $10.

That Mustang was way more expensive than I thought. I felt $27,500 was a solid bid. Painful loss for her, yet again.

Outside of JD's mindless ramblings, high quality program today.  Drew bumbled his way through TP, though...he should know better, but since it's only been played a handful of times with him (maybe the fewest of all the games?)...
They can be close at the top, too.

I haven't been around here a lot, or watched many episodes of TPIR, lately.  I did watch all of last week's episodes, though, as I was in the hospital after suffering a heart attack and had the liberty of watching.

After watching the first week of Season 39, I decided that I may get back in the habit of taping TPIR.  So this is my very first post of Season 39. :-)

I thought for sure that Triple Play would have its first win since December 6, 2007.  I did not expect the Xterra to be that cheap.

It's great to hear a classic car cue in Master Key again.  OK, so it's not Big Banana, but anything besides one of the crappy current cues works for me.  This may be a new season, but I see that the impossible SPs haven't changed.  The day planner was outrageously expensive and the multi-purpose lazy Susan was outrageously cheap.

That $40,000 showcase almost triggered another heart attack.  It would have triggered a heart attack for Mike as well if somebody had actually been gutsy enough to bid that.  I believe this is the first showcase ARP to end in 000 since December 2005.

I thought that Gwenda's bid was a nice safe bid that would have been enough for the win, given how much Jean garfed on her own bid.

My showcase bids:
Beer--$28,107
Mustang--$35,107
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

Triple play was almost won and pick a number was tough today. The contestant who got a wipeout in master key was stupid to say the tin was 90 when it was obviously 49 but the diary was tough and bonkers i woulda won also.
pepe! It took us all summer to clean out all the skunk stink from seasons 36, 37, 38, 39, and 40!!!

I believe this is the first showcase ARP to end in 000 since December 2005.
I remember a 21000 SC that you & I played CSS on in 2008. But this must have one of a handful, or even the first, to end in 0000. Three 0s is one rare thing, but FOUR...the chances of exacta-ing such a showcase just go so far up in that jump, that it comes across as desperate/rigged, which I know Mike doesn't want. I'm sure it won't happen again for a really, really long time, but it made the last segment today a bit awkward, IMO.

I won't repeat what everyone's said on TP, but...boy, Key & Bonkers were just blown up today. Bad Richard & Jean, bad contestants! Do better! :)
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

God I can not belive the loss in triple play.  I fell to the floor when she lost.  Master Key that dude was so dumb he dose not deserve to win.  Also I can not stand J.D. when he puts in side comments during the games   turn his mic OFF after he is done reading the copy!

I feel about the same way. As I've written before, such comments, especially when J.D. (or anyone else) is off-camera, are completely unnecessary and awkward. It seems like, however and unfortunately, there will be more of this as the season continues.

I've never liked Master Key; too much of a luck game for me.

I dunno... maybe it's just me, but at times I find when the random comments come up from JD, Drew either looks confused or annoyed. I have a feeling he's not a big fan of it, either...

It's really too bad Triple Play was lost. Gwenda seemed like a true Loyal Friend and True, the kind of contestant that has been so sorely missing lately.  Too bad she listened to the Peanut Gallery...if she had went with her gut, she would have won.

Key and Bonkers, however, were just played badly.

JD (and the models) really need to not talk unless they're being addressed (and on-camera).

That second showcase was just screaming for an exacta. I wonder what would have happened backstage if someone had actually bid $40K even...

Is this the first time they've offered beer as a prize?

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

I understand that Drew will now greet the announcer during the open, but JD really shouldn't attempt to initiate conversation there.  Drew can't hear him, and it comes across as just plain awkward.

Was it me, or was the overall sound balance way off during Triple Play?  I could barely hear Drew above the crowd, and he wasn't real coherent during the segment anyway.  It just sounded like the balance was wrong to me.

Both incorrect prices in Key were plausible.  Too bad he missed them both.

I think Jean under-bid the cash in SC1.  And do you think there was conversation between the producers about SC2 being exactly 40K?  Oh to be a fly on the wall there.

Well, for a show trying really hard not to have an exacta, having a showcase be worth exactly $40,000 doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. Then again an exacta there would just occur incidentally, so maybe they wouldn't mind it as much.

Nice to see Triple Play show up already! It was a shame she let the audience talk her out of a win. Then she makes it to the showcase, and misses out on the nice Mustang convertible by just $55. What a painful day for Gwenda.

Today's believe it or not stat of te day: Hi Lo now has more wins in Season 39 than it did in all of Season 38.

Well, I guess I'm glad we got our annual Master Key wipeout of the way early. <sarcasm> While that was set up harder than sometimes, in general the setups, especially on Triple Play, were fair today. The most annoying things about this episode was all of JD's random awkward comments, which just shouldn't be happening - they disrupt the flow of the show completely.

Timings:
Triple Play (6) - 5:37
One Right Price (3.5) - 3:07
Hi Lo (5) - 4:20
Pick A Number (3.5) - 2:56
Master Key (5) - 3:53
Bonkers (4.5) - 3:56
Total time (27.5): 23:49
