What would you do with $1281 ????

Well I might not have told a ton of People here on GR but I live in Alaska and on October 7th I receive the permanent fund dividend (PFD) from the state and it is worth $1281. It got me to thinking what should I do with it? I have so many choices of what to do with it but a thought came to me, "What would people who do not live here in Alaska do with it?" So I want to know;

What would you do with $1281 in cold hard cash?

I am interested who will come up with the best idea?

I would put exactly 50% into a 6-month certificate of deposit at your bank...

I'd take the other $640 and take a small vacation.

I would invest every penny of it in the securities market.  Stocks, options, mutual funds, ETFs, you name it.  Then aggressively day trade like crazy over the next 35 years. If I'm lucky enough, that $1281 would become over $10K by the time I go to retire.

Another vote for starting (or stoking) the nest egg.   If you don't want to be actively involved in managing the money, there are plenty of good funds which will do it for you.   If you do this with your dividend check yearly (and even a part of your regular pay) you'll come out better for it.  

There's nothing wrong with skimming a Franklin off the top for a nice treat, though.   You must have the self control to do only that, however.   Put the money somewhere where you can't transfer it back to your bank account easily, or temptations will arise.

Yeah, don't do this.  At current interest rates, your $640 will grow to precisely $642.11 in six months.  Might as well leave it liquid in a savings or checking account for a rainy day.

I really like to use it to go to Walt Disney World but need to save the little money I have to begin with and wait for my tax refund first.  

But I should put 1/2 in the bank (1/2 checking and 1/2 savings) and 1/2 to pay for a couple things I really like to have, a laptop computer and accessories and a new HD TV.
