What Shows Do You Predict Will GSN Acquire in 2011?
« on: January 10, 2011, 11:30:16 AM »
I think GSN's 2011-12 fiscal year may be approaching, GSN may have made a ton of revenue during the past year (thanks to Baggage, Newlywed Game, 1 vs. 100, and Deal or No Deal) and I ask any of you - what do you think GSN will acquire in this coming year?

Here's my prediction:

  • More Card Sharks episodes
  • The 2005-06 season of Wheel of Fortune
  • Another Sony-owned classic
  • More Match Game episodes
  • More Family Feud (Dawson) episodes
  • The 2008-09 season of O'Hurley's Family Feud
  • The final syndicated season of DoND
  • Maybe the pick-up of a classic game show never shown on GSN before (though not likely $ale of the Century or Scrabble)

I heard rumor from a GSN user that a cable network may be considering picking up Classic Concentration reruns in the future.  I don't know if GSN is the cable network that may be considering picking up such show, but it would be nice if they did.  It would be a classic, and never shown on GSN before.  I believe SkyOne in the UK showed the series during the 1990s, so why not GSN?

Also, what do you predict GSN will pick up in the new fiscal year?

That will happen when Amy Winehouse sobers up.
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

The 2005-06 season of Wheel of Fortune

VERY likely, I'd think. (Either that or 2006-2007.) The ratings on the marathon were spectacular, so I'd be surprised if GSN didn't add any form of WOF to their lineup this year.

The 2008-09 season of O'Hurley's Family Feud

That's airing already.

I heard rumor from a GSN user that a cable network may be considering picking up Classic Concentration reruns in the future.

Source of rumor.

If Brockman truly said that on that show, then that'd be pretty neat to see.

Also, what do you predict GSN will pick up in the new fiscal year?

My personal bet is 5th Grader. It's recent, and it's popular.

With the revival of 1 vs. 100, I have given up hope that GSN will air that many classic re-runs anymore.  2011 will feature the same line up as it always has.. with additions of new game shows, and revivals of old ones.

Classics have only so much appeal, so from a business standpoint, it makes sense not to invest too many resources there.

I'd love to see Now You See It (74/75) & Double Dare (76/77) return. I hadn't watched them before so GSN got me hooked.

THey were three weeks away from the finale of NYSI7x when it got dropped from the schedule. About 20 episodes of Double Dare 7x were skipped in the middle of the run IIRC.
