I expected a pretty correct set of circumstances for this couples show, and I was right - the setups were for the most part very acceptable, Drew didn't overdo anything, the copy didn't overdo anything...it was good. They have delivered on a good amount of these couple shows, but I do worry as the budget inevitably gets tighter how Father's Day and Wedding Shower will fare.

You know, I woke up this morning wondering for a second if they would try Hole in One for a double car (it was the only fee game I could imagine them trying this on)... I guess that would have been too long for today's proceedings even with the double SP used. But Cliffy was great too since there was no way to force a loss, and the girls really showed a win is possible despite any SP tricks with a well-needed good playing today.

Flippy has been set up much better lately, I was really thinking -97 for three -99 items, but was pleasantly surprised they didn't go down "both" alley again.

Eazy was as hard as I've ever seen it... I know a woman was guaranteed to be up today, but wow, that jewelry did not look like 3k.

Buck was the exception to the "acceptable" part - it was very unacceptable with DOUBLE nasty GPs. And putting the car in an easy spot had kind of a "ha-ha can't get this car still!" feel I really hated. Again, unacceptably hard - even though Michelle had an inkling on the candy, it looked so wrong with that No Gray (and Color Oops is like 11.99 or something...those hair colorings could become a real go-to for evil soon).

DP for a room and maid service is a bit of a problem...but it was so easy, I guess I'll let it go. :P

Plinko is in a rut after all those lucky 3-chip playings, which is a shame because it was set up very well today.

Good, reasonable SCs (minus the big cruise a bit), and pretty good bids today!

I'm reminded of the back-to-back DSWs of Season 34 - 271xx was needed on a 273xx showcase to get the second one. Oh well.

Interesting. Two small prize games in the same show. That definitely doesn't happen often. Another historic moment I believe: Cliff Hangers played for 2 cars.

I agree with Wayoshi that Eazy was difficult, bordering on "unfair" if possible. Jewelry is just not easy to price. And I'm gonna say it: for me, there is no excuse for a 50-something year-old host of a network TV game show to say "It's so easier when... when you just decide on your own..." I shook my head after hearing it.

Guess I also should get used to hearing the Price announcer say something like "I can't believe Michelle had Storm."  That seemed inappropriate to me, especially coming from the announcer.

Pass the Buck! Yay! One pick only? Too bad.

The fourth game to be played for two cars, with Switch?, One Right Price, and of course It's Optional being the others.

Oh, if only Gina and Terry had added another $100 to their bid, we would have had another DSW

Well, this honestly went about as well as could have been hoped. It was VERY nice to have a special show that was not unencumbered, so to speak, by Pay The Rent. Cliff Hangers for the 2 Accents was a genius way to lead off - leaving it fairly open for a decent win on a popular game was a good way to go. I also like how Plinko wrapped up the show, and was set up fairly too. As a matter of fact, the only thing I didn't particularly care for on the execution of this show was Pass The Buck. I find it interesting how LER is frequently set up to only get 2/3 rolls and we complain about that, but PTB lately has frequently been set up for the contestants to ONLY have the free pick, which is just unacceptable, and is doubly unacceptable on a special show like today. I have to feel like they got robbed a bit there. Yet, apart from that, I felt this show was put together really well, including the showcases.

You know, George has been beginning to offput me slightly, and today there were a couple things he said/did that set me the wrong way, in particular "I can't believe Michelle had Storm" and his alteration to the closed captioning plug that he probably thought was "cute". I really wish he would stop drawing attention to himself so much, he's just supposed to ANNOUNCE! Then again that's what Mike probably wants, but when you're making jokes about contestants that they may/may not want to hear, that's going over the line, I think. Drew is much classier than that even.

Timings:
Cliff Hangers (4.5)- 4:49
Flip Flop (3.5) - 3:03
Eazy as 123 (4) - 4:22
Pass The Buck (5.5) - 4:41
Double Prices (3) - 2:46
Plinko (5.5) - 5:22
Total (26): 25:01

I usually hate couples price, but todays show actually had fun contestants who looked like they wanted to be there. Thumbs up.

One more thought - I think they just needed to have both Hyundais there right away, like It's Optional.

Cliff Hangers:  Nicely played! :-)
SCSD#1:  Wow, a 3-way tie - cool! 8-)
Pass The Buck:  Not very well played on the grocery item portion, but at least Michelle & Storm didn't get a Lose Everything.
Plinko:  Too bad Karen & Raymond didn't get the $10,000 at least once.
Showcase:  Almost another :dsw: - what a great bid by Gina & Terry!

Good end to the week, IMHO.

Nice show today with Cliff Hangers, Flip Flop and Double Prices won. Eazy as 123 was tough today and there was no way it woulda been won. Pass the buck had tough luck so did plinko.

Well, I thought Hi-Lo for a car was a surpise, Cliff Hangers took the cake. 2 cars in a relatively easy game. That was nice to see. Besides the two 3X wins this season this is the best show starter of the season.
Nice to see Flip Flop won....I wouldn't have won it.
Eazy az 123 was just wrong.
Pass the Buck was also wrong.
Nice Double Prices win. OMG a 4 digit price in DP!
At least there was more money won in Plinko today than the last times.

A three-way tie! Wow.

Great showcase bid! I was really hoping for BTB DSWs.....oh well.

In all, not a bad couples show. Happy Mother's Day!

Happy episode #5555 (if the numbering is correct...) !

Cliff: That was the easiest setup for two cars I've ever seen.

Flip: Nice win on a potentially tricky setup.

Eazy: That's not where the block goes, silly!  ;)

Buck:  $5000 isn't bad considering Michelle and Storm failed the pricing portion (okay, it was kinda tricky).

Double:  What a bizarre (and easy) setup!

Plinko:  The "awww" from the audience when the waffle maker was described was pretty funny.  Did someone grease the Plinko board?

SCSD2:  ...And said someone greased the Wheel as well.

My SC bids:

$38,500

$34,100

Cliff: That was the easiest setup for two cars I've ever seen.

Considering it was the first Cliff setup for 2 cars, I would have to agree, it was the easiest.

Now there's something you don't see on TPIR:  Cliff Hangers in the first slot for two cars!

Woohoo!  A three-way in SCSD 1!

My showcase bids:
MINI--$35,107
Honda--$33,107
(That's no joke.  I really did have essentially the reverse of Stagey's bids.)

Whoa!  Gina and Terry were just $78 away from giving us back-to-back DSW shows!
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

Cliff Hangers for two cars was a pretty cool idea.  It made perfect sense for today, and they didn't have to mess with the rules to do it.

Bob's explanation would have worked so well in Eazy az 1 2 3 today.  "Kathy, when Audra was a little girl, I imagine the two of you used to play with blocks.  Well, we're going to ask you to do that again today..."

Pass the Buck really needs to be made easy...much like Let 'em Roll and Stack the Deck!

So who gets the The Maids service -- Terry or Gina?

Drew really didn't seem like he gave a *aycaramba* today.

Happy episode #5555 (if the numbering is correct...) !

It's episode #5555K.  The numbers they give are the production codes, not an episode counter.
