They said he was a curmudgeon off-screen as well as on-screen. When asked for an autograph, Rooney said "Who'd want my name on a piece of paper?!"

Very, very sad to see him go. I used to watch 60 Minutes only because of him. I actually didn't realize he was so old. RIP

Not that I'd want to, but I hope I'm able and with it enough to be able to work when I'm 90.
I'm TheBigAK...and I APPROVE this post.

RIP Andy Rooney.  :-(
A Big Rich Fields Drew Carey And Jeff Davis Fan For Ever From Kirsten

Rich Fields Thanks Kirsten. I pick out and supply all of my own clothing. That light gray suit is hard to pair with shirts and ties... but I think the lavender shirt and purple patterned tie pulled it all together.

My Favorite Announcers On The Price Is Right Are Johnny Olson Rod Roddy Rich Fields Jeff Davis.

I Met And Took Two Pictures With Jeff Davis On May 24, 2012 He Is So Nice And Kind In Person.

Rich Fields said this about Drew Carey will always be the first to defend Drew (Carey). He's one of the most genuine, down to earth people in Hollywood that I've ever met. He was the first to come to me and tell me that the show was going in a different direction. He assured me it was not his decision to let me go and I believe him. No one else was open and honest about it, but Drew was. We've continued working together on different projects and we stay in regular touch. We'll be good friends well into the future.

He hung in there, doing what he loved until the end. RIP, Mr. Rooney.

Very sad that he barely got to enjoy any retirement time at all after all those years working. At least he was able to do what he loved right up until the last days of his life.

So sad to hear. I wished him the best in retirement and now I wish his family the best. Glad he did what he loved, for a long time.

  Sad news.

I rarely watched an entire episode of 60 Minutes, but I did often catch the final minutes with Andy's thoughts.

RIP, Andy.

That's the risk you run when you don't retire until age 92.  Even Bob Barker gave himself nearly a decade until he reaches that number.

Mac McGarry, the host of It's Academic in the Washington, DC area for the past 50 years, is retiring this year at age 85, supposedly due to health problems.

Yup, not entirely unexpected, but sad nonetheless.
