*Macsen pops in from a time portal* Going through my old recaps to fill in the gaps isn't as easy as it looks. Especially when the Fandom Wiki mixes up episodes. I spent this morning creating an entire recap for a show that was already done. I mean, it's not like I have anything better to do today, but COME ON!!

At least I was able to install my old copy of Dreamweaver on my actual PC, so this should look a lot closer to what it did back when I was actually the Recap Guide.

Catch ya all later! *goes back through the portal, his tail almost caught when it closes*

Christina is really a textbook case of bad luck. None of her bids were unsound, she just hasn't hit any of them. And to make matters worse, the current hegemony at yellow has her without the last bid advantage. So avoiding the First Four Wall of Shame is going to be a hard sell this time around.

Pretty atrocious. It seems on short tape delay shows they love to bring out the hard car games and waste things.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

My Recap, FWIW

Overall an OK show, nothing too out of the ordinary.
"Our dilemma is that we hate change and love it at the same time; what we really want is for things to remain the same but get better." - Sydney J. Harris

“For the premiere of season 30, CBS wanted to do a special primetime show. However, they asked that we also add a gimmick or a twist to make it truly special. I came up with the suggestion of taking the show on the road for the first time in its history." - Roger Dobkowitz

One good thing that comes out of this episode is that we have a well-balanced win-loss record this week: 15-15.

I knew various contestants, staff, and George were not singing just to sing. Because, you know, that would have been unexpected.
The above is my opinion and mine alone.

To answer your questions: yes, I am a guy and yes, I have a face. (I also have the occasional spurt of weirdness.)

Eh, at least we got enough wins to break even pricing-game wise (15-15) this week. I'd have liked for there to be another car game win, but with Cover Up and More or Less being the car games of the day, that sure wasn't going to happen.

1/2 Off (L): She should have gotten the first pair ($45 perfume vs. $13 omelet pan), but the last pair ($15 "spill stopper" vs. $20 iron) was hard, as the show does use a $50 iron and it's not easy to tell the difference at a glance. Putting the money box at an extreme (16) was just extra difficulty.

Cover Up (L): Completely predictable and still aggravating to watch.

Most Expensive (L): As random as random designer accessories are, the Golden West pool table still should have been the clear choice here...

Bullseye (W): That was a ridiculously expensive bedroom group ($11K+). The game was still easy peasy, though; I liked how she used my preferred strategy of finding the most expensive item on the table and asking for 2 of it.

More or Less (won first 3): Predictable; the first three were ridiculously easy, and the Jeep Compass was, as usual, deceptively LESS. And when the entire Peanut Gallery is saying MORE on the car, you know this game pretty much never ends well.

Double Prices (W): $9K vs. $8K for kitchen appliances... definitely safest to go for the cheaper price, which he did.

The ABBA-tastic SC2: As much as I am a fan of ABBA, I felt that the presentation of this one dragged on rather much (did they need to sing a full eight measures at the beginning and the end?)... especially considering how, at $42K, it wasn't likely to be won.

See, I think this type of setup is perfectly LEGIT.  Had you known the price of the Compass, you would have won.  I'll never forget Roger calling me out for fingering up a $26,350 guess for a Mustang Convertible in 10C.  He assumed that was a "ringer" setup and that no one would reasonably go that high.

Would you rather have had Adam set a fake for the Laptop at $900?  At least we're getting to see the contestant PLAY for the car and I ain't trading that away.

If you ask me, the first prize should be really easy, the second should be fairly easy, and the third should be fairly difficult.

As for the car, there should be some variety. Maybe make the car easier, but make the third prize harder to compensate. Or make the car a hard MORE. Or perhaps a non-deceptive LESS with a car type that is not widely assumed to be MORE. And then have a couple of deceptive LESS ones here and there.

Also, I'm not as good at noticing edits as others are, but there was one horribly obvious one:

At the end of More or Less, Drew mentions the three prizes the contestant did win, and there was a camera shot of those three prizes... with none of the MORE/LESS's or prices revealed. It was clearly a shot of the prizes from before the game started.

If you ask me, there is sloppy editing, and then there is stuff like this...

Average show is average, aside from the Mamma Mia showcase which was pretty bad (if you're gonna have a singing-case, make sure they can sing first). Otherwise, nothing to see here except a couple of easy low-key wins, and 1/2 Off, Cover Up and More Or Less playing out in very typical fashion. Blah.

Timings:
1/2 Off (5.5) - 4:49
Cover Up (5) - 3:48
Most Expensive (3.5) - 3:35
Bullseye (5) - 4:02
More Or Less (5.5) - 5:09
Double Prices (3) - 2:26
Total (27.5): 24:49

half off, Cover Up, and More or less were forced losses but most expensive was winnable. Bullseye and double prices were easy.

How were they forced losses? For one thing, the 1st two prizes in More or Less were giveaways.
