TPiR Recap - 4/23/2012 (Audition Day 1)
« on: April 23, 2012, 03:23:56 AM »
Going ahead and posting this now because I'm going to be busy most of the day:
OK, folks, it's your turn. Anyone interested in becoming the permanent recap guide for the site needs to submit, ideally, at least 3 sample recaps this week. Further info can be found at http://www.golden-road.net/index.php/topic,19388.0.html. HTML has been turned on. To post recaps in HTML, paste your code with a tag of [h t m l] beforehand, and a tag of [/ h t m l] afterward.

Decent enough lineup, and actually set up very fair all around past L7, but we STILL end up with yet another non-car/cash 2/6 show. A# in particular was a crushing reverse loss.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

I almost thought the Shell Game bonus was going to be won.  It was quite fair.
Torgo has left the building. John and I never really cared for the way he presented himself.

AN was so meant to be won moreso than L7; the day's winner should've had $50K+ in prizes instead of $33K+.

Yeah, one hard SP he got and one toss-up he missed. At only $5414, I guess that was an all-around appropriate Shell setup with its new rules.

I won't quite say A# was meant to be won - you'd have to underprice the Mazda 2 a bit at first to secure it, and that's kinda hard to do on a Mazda 2 - but boy, that was pretty dang favorable. We don't need any bad breaks right now like that.

It still amuses me the first thing the Any Number player sees in the showcase round is another piggy bank.

I don't know how the DP loss was brutal, the 7k price should have been obvious, if anyone would have paid more then 7k for all that I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn

vadernader, I know you're using Kitch's templates for your recaps.  I just want to go on record and say that I like that you're keeping the look and feel the same.  I hope that you (or whomever gets the job) keeps the recaps looking this clean.

Also, I like the throwback/trivia pop about a previous William playing and winning Shopping Spree.  That is a nice touch and a neat little factoid that I'm sure many find interesting.

Now on to the show.

Lucky 7 wasn't set up as hard as usual.  I know there was a 9 there, and that's usually a sure-fire way to force a loss.  However, many of the more recent playing have included a --91 or --19 combo.

Pick-a-Pair wasn't supposed to be won with those items.

I can't say that I'm sad to see Lamont go over.  I know he wants to win (who doesn't?), but show some class, dude!

This was a refreshingly normal, gimmick-free, well-hosted show with a good lineup but disappointing results. L7 was its usual ridiculous hard self, but everything after that was left fairly open, and somehow we ended up 2/6 just like the last few shows. Shell Game was a particularly exciting win because Drew actually hosted it properly this time. I'm not even sure if Drew understands how today was much better than he's been doing it, but I hope he continues to do reveals in the most suspenseful way possible. Any Number was similarly good television even though it was a heartbreaking loss - that was really bad luck.

Oh, and someone finally lost Pick A Pair! Sure took long enough (it was on a 15-game win streak). This setup was definitely tougher than normal but there was still a "cheap" pair which stood out, which Joshua unfortunately avoided.

Timings:
Lucky $even (4.5) - 3:11
Shopping Spree (4.5) - 3:51
Pick A Pair (4.5) - 3:59
Shell Game (6) - 5:28
Any Number (5)- 4:36
Double Prices (3) - 4:00 (amazing this somehow was the 3rd longest game of the day!)
Total (27.5): 26:05

I knew there was gonna be two 9s in that Lucky $even price.  I just didn't know if the second 9 would be in the fourth or last position.

Good job by William on not being fooled by the cheapo Dell in Shopping Spree.

Wow... somebody actually lost Pick-a-Pair.  I was afraid that somebody would get caught with the $6.82/$7.99 toss-ups.  The food coloring and the paper plates aren't nearly as expensive as the other four products, so the setup wasn't impossible.

My showcase bids:
Motorcycle--$20,107
:frbs: --$28,107
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

Lucky $even wasn't quite as evil as they could have made it; second-digit 9's aren't too bad and beside that there was only one 8/9/1/2. However, the one that was there got her.

Shopping Spree: Good on William not to get fooled by that camera or that computer!

Finally, someone who knows how to lose Pick-a-Pair!  :P If there were cheaper GPs on the table instead of a bunch of other expensive ones, the food coloring and the paper plates could have been trouble (since I can imagine people underpricing those easily).

Shell Game was actually fair as far as getting the bonus went, and as others have mentioned, a good setup for the current rules and the relatively low ARP.

Any Number: Ugh, what a day for 5 not to be a trap. Tough break.

Double Prices: It seems the contestants here, in Any Number, and in Shopping Spree all tried to outsmart Mike. Go figure only one of them succeeded.
