Drew's face replacing the wrong numbers of Cover Up was a divisive issue in chat today.  Some feel it clashed with the game's tradition of covering up "the wrong numbers", and some felt it was a nice breath of fresh air/source of humor in a game that, frankly, can get frustrating or boring.  Chalk me up as part of that second camp.  It doesn't affect the gameplay one iota.

Pathfinder was a nail-biter today; that was the most exciting that game's been in quite some time.

Pay the Rent is back to being quite difficult.  I think two or three solutions is the perfect medium for the game ... and it's been six weeks, so it was sort of due.  Also, this should silence the "once it's won, it'll be retired!" naysayers.
Torgo has left the building. John and I never really cared for the way he presented himself.

I wasn't surprised PtR really cut down on its winning solutions today, so thank goodness there was a $10K bailout. I think the only possible solution was:

Mailbox: Egg Whites ($3.49)
L2: TiteBond Wood Glue ($6.42) + Green Giant Green Beans can ($1.49) = $7.91
L3: Gold Bond Foot Cream ($5.99) + Bull's-Eye BBQ Sauce ($2.29) = $8.28
Vault: Capzasin Applicator ($8.49)

Also, the car games were the trickiest they've been since early in S39 (when Fingers was still around). Pathfinder moreso could've gone either way- Amy saving the 5 for last as the third digit cost her dearly. She & her friends played that game like pros.

Besides Path (ironically), another shameful outing today. Let's go over it...

-Rent back to 1 solution. This should speak for itself how terrible this is and why Rent is the worst PG on the active rotation.
-Although the wrong numbers in Cover have no gameplay purpose, you're supposed to be Covering Up wrong numbers the entire game, that's why a dummy price starts the game. I can only hope this is a one-time thing and not a gag - this would be fine on April Fool's, but not full-time please, it's just too goofy.
-Path price not ending on the edge
-Two one-prize games for trips is lazy
-Standard boring Rent lineup

Just a ton of bad mojo this week. Amy almost took Path though on a pretty good playing on what was an OK setup (could have been much worse in June, I would expect it to be next time now that it was almost won, or at least the 3rd digit not going to the edge), but the hardest digit and hardest SP ended up sniping her in the end, to very much anguish.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

I, personally, found the gag in Cover Up very funny. I get the whole "covering up wrong numbers" but this was a nice change of pace that added a little laugh to the show. Nothing wrong with it, whatsoever.

I didn't mind the Drew pictures, it was funny. If they want to keep doing it (and they might, if Drew likes it), change it up with pictures of George and the models.

I agree that the Cover Up faces were funny, and I wouldn't mind it being a more than one time appearance, because it adds more personality to the game.
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

Based on Drew's reaction when Cover Up came around on the Turntable, it seemed like that was his first time seeing it and that it wasn't coming.

Drew's face replacing the wrong numbers of Cover Up was a divisive issue in chat today.  Some feel it clashed with the game's tradition of covering up "the wrong numbers"...
I really wish I was in chat today, because it may have clashed but this was clearly a joke. Obviously, the crew made the change after Drew's repeated bashing of the useless numbers in this game over the past playings this season. I found it to be very funny and I'd be highly surprised if the faces became a permanent thing. I thought of it as a one-off joke and therefore it should really be a non-issue until we see Cover's next playing.

What? Doth thyne eyes decieveth me? Pathfinder was actually watchable today!?!? The SPs weren't super difficult!?!? Oh my goodness! What a joy it was to watch Pathfinder be reasonable for a change. That was the real breath of fresh air from today's show. A shame she lost on that iron, but a great playing nonetheless.

I really liked the background, both the red color and the sunset pillars, in Showcase 1 today.

You know what's kind of gotten old? The "Make Your Move" reveal as seen in Showcase 2. I mean I like it, but I've noticed it a lot lately.

Seems today's Pathfinder was slightly easy and I was on the edge of my seat on that one. Sadly, Amy lost on it...........But I don't blame her into thinking that the last SP (the iron) was $65 and that was a unfortunately common mistake. I do blame Mike for setting her up, just to knock her down like that, though.

Cover-Up was...........well, it was Cover-Up. BTW, I hardly think that gag, where the wrong numbers were aptly "covered up" with pictures of Drew, was necessary to start with. Maybe it was supposed to come off as giving someone a chuckle at it, but it was mostly cheesy, at best. Then again, it might add some comic relief to it, so it might not be that big of a deal. The gameplay, however, was hard as usual. Tough break for Michael.

Pay The Rent went back to its old ways again.........'Nuff said.

Nelson was the highlight of today as he won ME..............Good thing that he picked the computer where Amber, his favorite girl, was. He also won a grand on the wheel and a Cruze.

While it was a lot better than yesterday, even though we won't get a car washout (since Nelson won a car on his SC), I do have a feeling that a car game washout might be imminent for this week.

I think the Drew faces are a great idea, and I'd love to see the gimmick used in the future, and it would make Cover Up fit seamlessly into some of the heavier themed episodes if they use more than just his face.

I'm disappointed to see Pay the Rent return.  I mean, it was expected, but yeah.  Looks like it's going to be impossible to win once again.  At least until they decide they've got the budget for another winner.

Cover Up was funny.  I think part of what made it funny was that Drew didn't seem to be in on the joke beforehand, and it just led to a funny, real moment on his part.  Having said that, I do hope they show restraint and don't continue doing that.  It would get old pretty fast, but I can say I liked it as a one time thing, at least.

Pathfinder was a lot of fun, and exciting to watch, and just heartbreaking at the end.  But it was nice to see such an exhilarating playing.  Amy did a great job:  if only she did ironing :oldlol:.

I thought Cover Up was funny if only because Drew went particularly out of his way on the last playing to bash how the numbers were pointless, and this seemed to be a direct response to that. I agree it would be best kept a one-time thing though. Those numbers are mostly pointless, but they serve the purpose of having a contestant have to "cover up" something every turn including the first. Although I guess they shouldn't have to always cover up numbers, necessarily :) The actual playing went as usual.

Apart from that, this was a blah Rent-Path show at its essence, but there was some interesting stuff going on. I was a bit disappointed but not surprised to see Rent go back to having 1 solution. This only proves that what they did earlier this season was effectively a Million Dollar Mission, which rubs me the wrong way, although I suppose they could have shoved it in our faces more than they did so at least there's that. Then we have Pathfinder which got much closer than similar setups have. The 3rd number getting to an edge made there be less possibilities for the 4th which effectively made it easier but that fake -0 and REALLY hard iron (especially when they've had a $50 iron on the show this season!) proved to be a death knell. This was also the first time the number hasn't ended on the edge in Pathfinder in a long time - maybe that was something Scott was particularly vigilant about.

Let's see here... Rent went about as expected - I knew it was going to be 10 at best when the beans went in the mailbox, but at least she didn't crash out. Flip-Flop came through with one of our two wins on the day, nicely done by Carolyn there.

On Cover, like most of the others, I found it funny to see the Drew faces. I don't want to see it on a regular basis (unless it's played on April Fool's Day), but it was a nice little poke at Drew, and it came off well. This would've been another good setup to play 32 as the first two numbers starting out - no way a Sonata is 27K or more, so the 22 is all but given away. Shame that it wasn't won, but Michael got drawn in by the call of the nice neat 50 ending.

Nice job by Nelson on Most Expensive, our other win of the day. I was waffling between the computer and the treadmill myself, didn't think the iMac would be quite that much, but it seems that they loaded it to the max with upgrades.

Pathfinder was epic pain, especially the $65 iron, but it was very winnable - like Michael, the call of the trap 0 proves too strong for Amy. As for Push Over, I doubt that setup gets won more than twice out of 10 chances, with a London trip even cheaper than the earlier-shown Grand Cayman one.

So overall, could've been better, with winnable car games being lost, but could've been a lot worse too (yesterday's L7/Stack debacles come to mind).

(Also, Adam, couple things for you to fix on the recap... in ME you have prices 2 and 3 switched, and Pathfinder listed as a win.)

Pay The Rent:  Good bailout.  I thought that Capsazin gel was more expensive than that.
Flip Flop:  Good job! :-)
Cover Up:  I liked how they had the Drew Carey faces instead of the wrong numbers to start the game.  Too bad it was lost.
Most Expensive:  Nice win! :-)  I envy Nelson because of him getting to hug Amber.
Pathfinder:  Evil, IMO, between the iron and the fact that 0 would've been a choice for the last number no matter what the 4th number was.
Push Over:  Doh!

An okay show overall, IMHO.
