Font Change?
« on: September 13, 2013, 08:36:14 AM »
Did the fonts change or was it just me.

If so, I don't 100% like it.
Yeah...let's make this current shall we?

No, I see it as well. It may be related to the site having gone down for a brief period some hours ago.

If so, I don't 100% like it.
I 100% do not like it, partly because the lower-case o and a zer0 look exactly the same* and partly because the text seems to be more variable-width than before -- quoted text and links to quoted posts are particularly small and difficult to read.  Further, the numbers are variable-height, which I do not believe has ever been the case and is most noticeable when the 8 sticks up above all the others.

I have what appears to be a 1280 x 1024 Dell monitor set to 1152 x 864, with my browser window maximized and the size ratio of this site at the default, so my viewpoint is not small by any means.

(* The word "zero" in that sentence uses a zero. Spellcheck can tell, but could you?)

The above is my opinion and mine alone.

To answer your questions: yes, I am a guy and yes, I have a face. (I also have the occasional spurt of weirdness.)

Interesting...the old font is still up in Chrome, but the new one is on Firefox.

I've just been assaulted by serifs.

I don't like it.
Torgo has left the building. John and I never really cared for the way he presented himself.

This is Georgia, right?

Like I said before... enough with so many changes.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

Weird... When I first logged on this morning and read this topic from my Galaxy S3, I still had the old font. It didn't change until about 10 minutes ago.

I echo everyone else. The old font was much better.
Pardon my language, but I do believe we all need to calm the f*** down.

Ah, okay. I have the new font up in Chrome with a hard page refresh.

If you ever see a Serif font on this site (or virtually anything I've had a hand in) you can assume that something went haywire. In this case, there was an issue with the index.css being damaged/corrupted (looks to be a stray plug-in).  Restoring from backup, everything should be back to normal-ish within the hour.

FWIW: As a designer, I loathe serif fonts (Georgia included) and certainly wouldn't inflict one on you guys deliberately.

One positive while fixing things this afternoon: Finally got the chance to turn on the new minor feature: You can now link to your Facebook/Twitter/Google Plus/Youtube/etc with a button appearing below your avatar, ala the IM links.

There seems to be an overabundance of butter yellow that doesn't really mesh well with the rest of the colors.  Is this deliberate?

The actual retail price is...

Weird, why would the default font be Georgia in the case of an error?

And now my post looks odd with "zer0". :-P

What is the normal font, anyway?
