This was a pretty good show, we had a DSW and more money won on the wheel. I liked how they did Cliffhangers, it was a nice change of pace from using one of the regular cash games (Punchboard, for example.)
2nd place, 2011 CSS playoffs.     QSW, 3/27/17, 1/15/18. Exacta, 5/14/21.

My two cents:

Squeeze Play: Piece of cake! I knew that 5 was the wrong number. And kudos to her winning an extra $1,000 on the wheel.
Cliff Hangers: $30,000 is still a lot of money (just wish he hadn't bid so high on the pizelle maker); quick note: The 20-30-40 strategy would have been a loss in this case. Good thing Kyle got around it and won $30K!
Line 'em Up: Tough break. I didn't think that Sentra was cheap.
Safe Crackers: Another tough break.
Now or Then: Nice comeback!
That's Too Much: I knew she lost the moment she stopped at $21K and change. I knew a Mini Cooper Paceman was expensive (I never thought I'd see such a round figure, though). But lucky for Jeune, she was a Double Showcase Winner!

Overall, not too bad a show today. Perhaps the rest of the week may be better.

Well, $250,000 Cliffhangers was certainly a spectacle to see. It was setup for a big win; it's just unfortunate $30,000 was the outcome. But hey, $30,000 was won in Cliffhangers!

That wheel is hot this week! Lot's of digging!

Safe Crackers was semi-difficult, but the added accessories with the iPads didn't help. I figured $870 was the price.

Nice comeback in Now or Then!

Always fun to see a  :dsw: in the showcases!

Pardon my language, but I do believe we all need to calm the f*** down.

Cliff Hangers for a quarter-millie was a brilliant idea. He would have easily cleared over $100k had his last 2 bids not been so ridiculous lol. Though, given that the start item was $32, I was really expecting a Spelling Bee-type SP setup, with the prices not going in ascening order for this occasion. Great tension building on this one!

So... does Cliff Hangers count as a win or a loss?  It's times like this you miss Roger and his understanding of the games.  I mean, like, when Super Ball!! was played for a car, it counted as a loss if the car was won, but not the other prizes, so Cliff Hangers may not count like a normal "have to win  everything" cash game... but then, there was a lot not won.  Can a game be called won if only $30,000 of $250,000 is won?

It also seems like it should've been $260,000... having the mountain climber stop at 25 at the end of the game would have made for a ridiculously awkward situation that could have been entirely preventable.

When I first heard $250,000 Cliff Hangers, I was ready to vent a lot of rage, because I figured that, like most of the other games, it would be pretty much all or nothing. This, though... this went a lot better than expected, and if we have to use Cliff for Big Money Week, this was probably about the best way to do it.

The whole "start on step 1" thing was kind of odd, but overall, I have to be honest, I wouldn't mind seeing the Cash Cliff come back another day, for lower stakes. I know that's not happening (nor, particularly, should it), but I still have to give suitable props here for how it was done.

Not a bad show today.

THE BAD NEWS:

Line Em Up: For shame, peanut gallery..............

Safe Crackers: I was way off on that one. Tough break for Anna.

TTM: I don't get why the Paceman had to be presented on that game, which made it unfortunate for Juene. At least she's 2nd  :dsw:!!!

THE SOMEWHAT GOOD NEWS:

Cliffhangers: The new concept, in favor of Big Money Week, was a bit yin/yang for me...........I mean, the only way that Kyle could win $250K is that he must get a perfect win. While that may be a little challenging from my own standpoint, at least he got $30K, so it wasn't all that bad. However, I could do without Carrie standing next to a monitor showing $250K.............Hardly seems necessary if Mike was gonna turn Cliffy into a casher.........Even if it is just this one time.

THE GOOD NEWS:

Squeeze Play: Total "gimme".............Good thing that Courtney took out the 5.

However, she really needs to limit her shout-outs when and after she got a dollar on the big wheel. It's one thing to say, "Hi Mom, Hi Dad, Hi, So and So.........", but it's another to describe your family tree and no one has time for that (despite this being a hour-long show and all that).

Now Or Then: I was afraid that Corey was gonna wipe out, but he did got back on his feet and prevailed.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

Pretty good show, with the addition of Juene being the 2nd Double Showcase Winner. But for Drew's sake, I wish he did explain the rules of the Showcases before they start. I know he's not Bob (even though Bob did that when he was host), but still...........

Speaking of Showcases, why would Mike randomly put a pair of motorcycles for a "True Art" SC? And if it was gonna be that theme, he'd at least put up another trip, like Paris or Italy where they have art museums as well. The end result of making it just a two-fer made it a little cheap............Well, more than usual wth common two-fers, anyway.

The $250,000 prize reveal for Cliff Hangers would have been a bit more effective had the model (Kegan?) not been standing in front of the monitor...and if Adam had shown the Race Game Curtain lifting up to reveal the game rather than showing the audience to likely mask an edit.

The idea of Hans carrying the money actually does work from a logistical standpoint -- as he climbs up the mountain, $10,000 wads fall out of the sack.

Motorcycles are most certainly not what most may consider "True Art", Richards. A Double Showcase Win is always good to see, however. :-)

having the mountain climber stop at 25 at the end of the game would have made for a ridiculously awkward situation that could have been entirely preventable.

Hearing the Rent is Too High intro music and seeing Cliffhangers after the $250,000 monitor flash was a shocker to me. This is the right right way Mike's idea of a Big Money game should feel, both at the reveal and while watching everything unfold. Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything to change my opinion from the last two days. Again, this iteration of Big Money Week has been more palatable and exciting than the last iterations games, but it still suffers from the sudden jumps in excitement and attention paid to a single segment of the show. The situation is still where for around three minutes, you're sitting on the seat of your pants, all excited over the high stakes and thinking, "Oh, is he going to win the big money?! Oh, no! All that money Hans is dropping over the cliff!" then after that one segment, it's back to business as usual. I would still have like to have some reason to remain particularly excited throughout the whole show instead of all of the attention being paid to one segment then fleeting, win or lose. Spread the extra budget around the whole show.

Courtney's apparent oblivion to everything going on around her while she insisted to Drew that she continue her greetings speech was one of the funnier parts of the day (for me, anyway). I've never seen it go down quite like that before. Also, nice DSW. And I will comment here that today's cars appeared to be a couple thousand dollars more than their standard fare, though the extra budget and attention was still too concentrated for what's supposed to be a special week for my tastes.

The mountain climber actually started at 1, not 0. Stopping at 25 would have won him $10,000.

Which means that he actually only had $24 to play with during the small prize segment!

C-H: I wish the last two SPs hadn't been overbid on, but $30K's certainly better than nothing.

LeU: This loss hurt- Kyle had it right the first time but audienced out.

TTM: I would've lost, too- I would've been one price short. Sorry Jeune didn't win that or get a chance to play for the really big money, but she did leave as a DSW!

Great show overall...

Squeeze Play: Easy win.
Cliff Hangers: He probably could've done even better than $30K, but I think the way they did this was great, and an unexpected surprise.
Line 'em Up: Too bad it was lost.
Safe Crackers: This was sort of a 50/50 chance.  Also, too bad it was lost.
Now or Then: An enthusiastic contestant, but I think this guy got sort of lucky.  The "New" on the bottle and in the prize description of the first item should've been a bit of clue.  But, a win is always nice.
That's Too Much!: Whenever I see this game, I pretty much expect a loss, but at least she won both showcases!  As a LFAT I think she deserved it.

Drew was great today!  He interacted well with the contests, and was full of enthusiasm and energy.  I haven't been watching every day, but it was really nice to hear him say something other than "Let's get another contestant up here right away" after PG1!

Is it just me, or doesn't $250,000 - $230,000 = $20,000 (not $30,000)?

I thought the Cliff Hangers gimmick was a great idea, despite Drew's bumbled explanation. He didn't need to continue past "We'll take away $10,000 for every click" to "So imagine at the end it's ten thousand, then twenty thousand..." He seemed to lose some people there. Unfortunate that our contestant didn't win more, and I appreciated it was a little bit tougher than the usual 20-30-40 setup, but I was happy to see he didn't piss away the whole $250K.

I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't just a flat $250K for winning the game. I was terrified we were gonna have an all-time daytime record from Cliff Hangers. I'm surprised no one here predicted how they actually played it out. I wouldn't be upset if this showed up again for Big Money Week III.

SO nice to see another DSW! Contestants are already burning it up this season - again on a bid ending in 500. Future contestants take note!

On the down side, I can't take these Showcases anymore. We've had 18 episodes so far this season, which means we've seen 36 Showcases. Out of those 36, 5 have not contained trips. 3 of those 5 were 2-prize Showcases. It seems as if this shift is due to lack of variety in prizes these days... We're so heavy on the electronics and vacations we hardly ever see rooms of furniture or appliances. There were two sets of tablets offered on the show today. I get that they want to steer clear of the "Grandfather clock" stuff, but I've grown tired of seeing the same stuff over and over - particularly trips that I personally wouldn't have the faintest idea of how to price.

To add to this, every single show this season has had at least one car in the showcases.
Pardon my language, but I do believe we all need to calm the f*** down.
