I know I'm probably in the minority here, but The Cats remix is starting to sound better to me (better than itself, not the original) every time I hear it, even though it's the exact same remix. The Big Banana remix on the other hand, still sounds like trash to me.
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

AlyssaBeth annoyed me more than any other contestant on this show in quite some time.  Congratulations, you're a nuisance.

A pretty decent way to end this week.............

THE BAD NEWS:

One Away: You know, looking back on this loss, I think that Amber's husband/boyfriend/best friend might've wanted her to change the 3 to a 1 on the 2nd try. If that's the case, then Amber should've listen to him. However, that really cost her.

Grocery Game: You know what's funny? AlyssaBeth probably should have asked for 4 boxes of the Basic 4 cereal ($5.19 X 4 = $20.76) first for the win. Also, ever noticed the 1-2-3-4-5 theme of today? That was sort of clever, I guess. Oh, well...........It doesn't really matter too much that she loss on the trip to Vegas. AlyssaBeth got a Double Dollar on the wheel and won a surprisingly not-too-bad FRATS, so she got really lucky here!

THE NOT-SO-BAD NEWS:

Plinko: $1100 is better than nothing.

THE GOOD NEWS:

Money Game: I was hoping Ora would pick 77 and she did! A bit of easy setup and win right there!

ME: I got duped into thinking that the pool table was the most expensive.......... Good thing Phillip picked the fridge.

Bargain Game: Edwin was really all over the place but he wasn't as annoying as Stephen was from the Christmas Eve show last week IMHO. At least he picked the W/D for the win!

THE BOTTOM LINE:

All in all, this was a good 1/2 and 1/2 show today and a good way to end this week, which was incredible (The Grandparents show could've gone a little better, though). Nice to see Manuela, too and I guess the whole "Soap Stars As Temporary Price Models" fad has been milked dry, as it seems (Hunter King was good despite that).............But come on, Mike. Give us a three-model day! Hope we can get that next week.

MG: I was surprised 77 was the back half & not 50; at least it was still won!

P!: In later-taped eps. like this one, this PG isn't so much on a hot streak.

OA: Yet again, they play a car game in the dreaded 4th slot (even after they've already played a cash game). Even though it was lost, at least this setup wasn't bad.

SCSD #2: Two Double Dollars in one four-day week!

Showcases: Whether Alyssabeth knew it or not, she slowly built her own Showcase right after she got out of CR (first the luggage, then the cash & the trips).

What a week this has been!

Pretty enjoyable 1st TPIR of 2014 for me. Not as good as Monday and Tuesday certainly but still very good.

Money Game: Great start to my 2014 TPiR viewing. My favorite game. I like that automobile and that was setup for a win. The contestant's row prize was also a wonderful prize.

Bargin Game. My favorite 2 prize game. Nice win of some good prizes.

Plinko: Not too good. At least it wasn't a wipeout.

One Away: Ouch! Missed it by $20 on the 1st try. It's always painful when 4 numbers right on the 1st try ends in a loss.

Most Expensive: This was a tough setup and a well earned win.

Grocery Game 1 of my favorite games. Not too well played. It's better to go for more expensive items 1st in this game.

Showcases: I preferred the other showcase but the showcase that was won was still good.

Very good lineup and a few nice wins. Not the best show and certainly not as Monday or Tuesday but still a very good start to my 2014 TPIR viewing.

Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Magic Number.

I enjoyed this show mainly because of AlyssaBeth.  It was nice to have her and Edwin - both who seemed genuinely excited - to root for.  I'll take genuine over-the-top over fake excitement any day.

Also, I remember when the showcase podia were redesigned, there was some discussion here about whether the cards were still able to be held in the card holders.  I don't remember any discussion about it since then.  But I noticed today for the first time that when Drew reached for AlyssaBeth's card, he actually seemed to reach around into the back of the podium.  So I guess the location of the old card holders is no longer a card holder.

Nice "down to the wire" win in Money Game, and fantastic $26,000 win in the second Showcase Showdown. I also liked how Phillip said "...Number 2!" during Most Expensive; the numbers behind the prizes aren't referenced much these days by the contestant or the current host, in stark contrast to Bob ("Is it number one <pause> or is it number two <pause> or is it number three?") :)

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but The Cats remix is starting to sound better to me (better than itself, not the original) every time I hear it, even though it's the exact same remix. The Big Banana remix on the other hand, still sounds like trash to me.
I still would like to hear the original cues played, but I will admit that for some reason I thought The Cats remix started off OK. It fairly quickly became trash though like the Big Banana remix, to use your phrasing.

I'll have to go back and listen to the few times we've heard that Cats remix... But I swear it sounds like we've heard a different edit every time. Today's sounded the most like the original of any other time I've heard it.

Also found it interesting how they left Edwin's Showcase podium "burning" throughout the rest of the show. A unique directing call there, another way to tie the Showcase together. They may not be doing the skits anymore, but at least it seems like they're trying to make them more interesting.

Minor, I am aware, but the official CBS YouTube channel has put up the Bargain playing with this description:
Quote
Edwin plays the Bargain Game for the chance to win three fantastic prizes.
...Well, yes I suppose if you wish to consider the washer/dryer "package" as two separate prizes...

As for The Cats...while it may sound closer to the original, it also has some very bad editing. And Sandler, please stop with your little "Ooh look what I can do!"-style method of revealing multi-prize games -- it does not work.

That said, if we are going to be using this remix of The Cats, would it hurt anyone to start using it for the Plinko intro?
The above is my opinion and mine alone.

To answer your questions: yes, I am a guy and yes, I have a face. (I also have the occasional spurt of weirdness.)
