A decent show. Getting only the dud key is always a letdown, but we did have a $1,000 win on the wheel.

One Bids: Good joke by Drew regarding the clangers right after the $1 bid, did it just as well as Bob would do. Nice mix of prizes offered. But Brandon just didn't deserve to play a game, with two $699 bids, and two $1 bids, even though one of those bids would have mattered by just a dollar.

Freeze-Frame: Easy.

Do the Math: Mikestopper here! Most people think of "cheap" motorcycles as costing in the $3000-$4000 range, but the Chevy Spark of motorcycles was offered here along with the TV being high end.

That's Too Much!: Not too difficult if you understand that's a bare-bones mustang and not think of an average equipped model that this gets purchased. But Christopher fell for it.

Danger Price: Nice win here! I thought the Climber was the DP given Golden West having $3,000+ pool tables, but its good to see a trap avoided here.

Check-Out: Not the best play, but guessing high on Hidden Valley and the Hash Browns was countered by a more expensive Cleaner.

Master Key: Tough luck! The 0 trick worked here and I would have gotten both SPs.

Showcases: Welcome back Around the World! (at least on the title strip) This trip will have a special bonus to today's winner thanks to her PG win. Glad Leetah loves to travel. Sure she technically Garfed and I could understand that due to these trips being one way and around the world fares sometimes having a special discount, but it beats the obvious overbid on the other showcase.

Overall: Pretty good lineup that contrasts newer games in the first half to older games in the second half, with a different type of game for each. A fair amount of winning, though not having a car won or significant cash is a bit of a drag.

Show Grade: C+

My two cents:

Freeze Frame: Good win. And congrats to Leetah for winning $1,000 on the wheel and her 3TS (3-trip Showcase)!
Do the Math: I knew minus was the right answer (since most TV prices on the show ended in 00). Too bad Linda didn't.
That's Too Much: I knew $23K+ was too much for that awesome Mustang! It's just too bad Christopher didn't. Tough break.
Danger Price: I always thought that pool table was more expensive than $2,400. Boy, was I wrong. And kudos to Peggy!
Check-Out: I had the first two items on the nose, even though I would've lost (by only 20 cents), since I underbid on the cleaner. But at least Francis did well.
Master Key: It's a shame the one key she picked was the dud key.

THE BAD NEWS:

DTM: Pretty much, a "gimme".......I knew it was minus.

TTM: Guess Mike did the same method as he did with the Mustang on 11/14/13 aka #6494K. Aside from that car being cool-looking (mostly because of the color), Christopher pretty much blew it.

MK: Well.............it wasn't a wipeout. Although, getting a dud is just about as worse as getting a wipeout on that game. Sorry, Marcianne.

THE GOOD NEWS:

Check Out: I really thought that the dip was gonna do Francis in, but he should be thankful for that cleaner.

Danger Price: That might have been a Mikestopper because I really didn't that pool table was gonna be that cheap. Good win by Peggy!

Freeze Frame: Congrats to Leetah on that and winning $1K and her FRATS.........Wish it was called the "Around The World" SC (or at least, bring back the ATW graphic) like it was back then.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

Pretty much a average show........No more, no less.

Freeze Frame: Nice win of a nice trip.

Do the Math: Contestant forced loss. A 60 inch TV and that smaller cheaper motorcycle. Minus WAS the obvious answer.

That's Too Much: Too bad the Ford Mustang wasn't won but the setup was fair and many people would have won this. That's Too Much is never an easy game but today's setup was fair and contestant friendly.

Danger Price: Nice win here. I don't think this was that tricky but I don't think it was easy either. It was probably going to come down to that last choice.

Check Out: If there's such a thing as a lucky win in a game that's not luck based this would it. Today's contestant missed 3 items by about or over $1 but the win thanks largely to high-low cancel out.

Master Key: It's unfortunate the Volkswagen Jetta wasn't won and it's a bummer to see the dud key picked. Downer of a way to end the day.

Showcases: The Scion XB showcase was the better showcase but I did like the trips around the world showcase.

Lineup: Well Do the Math is my 2nd favorite 2 prize game behind Magic Number and Danger Price and Check Out are amongst my favorite games period. However I'd have switched slotting between Master Key and Check Out. Master Key becomes such a letdown if either neither SP is won or if only the dud key is won that I don't like it being slotted last. Because Master Key is 1 of the games on the show with the highest probably of being a letdown I'd rather it not be last.

Overall: Not our best show but not too bad either.
Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Magic Number.

Not sure why everyone is saying TTM was easy and that Christopher blew it. That was a typically hard setup and was not going to be won by 9 out of 10 contestants. The fact that the base model Mustang is always overpriced means contestants are going to keep going past it if it is put in the 2nd or 3rd or even 4th position. If it was 5th, 6th, or 7th or even 8th that would have been a more fair setup.

Forced loss? I went plus as well, along with several others. That 60in TV was a plasma TV, which is normally equated with cheap. I can easily see why plus was a go to answer.

Speaking of "one way," Rich said in the description, "We'll fly two of you one way from Los Angeles to Washington."  (It sounded like something that was more fitting with an April 1 showcase.)  In the old "Around the World" showcases (even back when "Every Trip in the House" and "Holly's Travel Bureau" were around-the-world trips), I remember Johnny/Rod saying the first trip was "round trip."  When did they switch?

And I do remember a showcase when they flew the contestant one way and didn't fly them back.  It was on the Dennis James weekly version, where the trip was to San Francisco; the contestant was flown there, and then went back to LA by train - and IIRC, they got to keep at least one car of the train(!).

If it was 5th, 6th, or 7th or even 8th that would have been a more fair setup.
If it was a standard car and not a Mustang, or if they start the range at $15K+ for the Mustang (even though that might a little too easy), maybe.

the old "Around the World" showcases (even back when "Every Trip in the House" and "Holly's Travel Bureau" were around-the-world trips)
I really did enjoy those way more than this. Now, sometimes you can't tell if it is a "Around The World" Showcase because the third prize can be a tad unpredictable.............You don't know if there's another trip or if it's a car and/or boat for the third prize. It's those kind of things that need to be brought back.......But that's really not in the cards anytime soon, unfortunately.
