*Then again, I really don't waste that much on toothpaste IMHO, but that's just me.

I couldn't find a single "easy" setup today. Usually there is at least 1 game that is setup to be won no matter what, but today all 6 games were setup to be lost for sure. Freeze Frame was ridiculously evil to be specific. with $4500, $5200, $6000, and $7600 all being reasonable prices, it had to be $9,100? Lucky $even was its usual self, and Check-Out was more of a "?" setup than anything else. 1 Right Price was probably getting lost more times than won because people like to overprice big screen TV's and the ending might have effected the guess as well, but who knows. Line 'em Up was not impossible, but it was hard enough that it was probably going to get lost any given day as well. As far as the showcases go, it would have been a lot better if they had not shown George with a key ring and keys on it and just started talking about "keys" to the showcase. Once you give a visual of literal keys not only do you give away that you're going to get to a car at the end but you also confuse people when you start talking about other types of "keys" like piano keys or (lord help me) the ... Florida Keys.

Well, normal toothpaste runs anywhere from $4-$6. However, it was not just everyday toothpaste, it was a special whitening toothpaste with peroxide.

My two cents:

1/2 Off: Tough luck. 'Nuff said.
Freeze Frame: Somehow, I knew the NYC trip was over $9K. Too bad James didn't.
Lucky Seven: Reasonable price, but another tough break.
Check Out: I thought for sure he had it. Pricey toothpaste, but it wouldn't be the first time.
One Right Price: Tough break. But at least she won her Showcase.
Line 'em Up: Same as above.

Showcases: Both Showcases are equally okay. I'd prefer a piano over a Kia Soul with MT any day.

Yes, that is one of those brands (toothpaste) that is just more expensive (kind of like certain types of others things are - certain brands of electronics or appliances or lotion). 
Unfortunately he was under on all the other items (except the macaroni, and that only over by a penny) so there weren't any "overs" to balance it out.

This was one of the times they needed one of the medical items that looks like it's $10 but is only $6 to get a winner   At least he got $500 as a "consolation" unlike the rest of the non-winners.

Well, I guess that made sense about the toothpaste..........But I'd rather settle for the regular stuff than that because you were right: Mike really didn't want anything to be won.

And only he would do something like that on C-O and bring back the soda maker on 1/2 Off.

It was more of the peanut gallery's fault for telling Theresa to pick 4.

Check-Out was absolutely heartbreaking.  Anthony made a couple of good guesses on the first four products, and was just $1.76 away from the actual total before the toothpaste's reveal.  Rembrandt is one of the most expensive toothpaste brands, and Anthony made a good guess with $6.00, but its almost $8.00 pricetag shot the actual total out of the winning range.  Ouch.

The first showcase was actually pretty decent.  The ideas of keys flowed almost nicely together (although the throw to trip was pretty clunky.  It could've referenced opening the keys to luggage, in the Florida Keys), and had a good buildup towards the car.  It was also nice to see a now rare appearance of a piano as a prize.

The second showcase was bad.  Honestly, I'd take Rich's announcer's test from Season 37 over it.  George tried too hard to be funny, and it's never a good sign when the script depends on the contestant responding to the announcer's questions.  The idea of knock-knock jokes is a good one, but I'd have George knock on each of the doors and have the models answer his jokes.  That would've made for a good use of all the doors and would've gotten George involved beyond standing at the podium and reading copy.

^ I'll have to agree that interaction as part of a script should be limited to George, Drew, and the models. Then things should always go according to plan.

I have to say, when it works, it works.  Sarah did beautifully working with George in the second showcase.  She was clearly having a blast with it, playing along seamlessly with George, and that really made for a fun showcase.  On the other hand, they got lucky with Sarah:  with a lot of contestants, that whole thing would've been awkward.

Drew's hosting is overall very good--MUCH better than his first few seasons--but one thing I wish he'd stop doing is telling contestants how "easy" or "hard" the games are.  I know he's trying to be enthusiastic and encouraging, but in the case of today's Check-Out playing, after saying things like "you're in such good shape" and "contestants win this game all the game" the loss seemed like even more of a letdown.  Just present the game, guide the contestants through it and be neutral.

Wow...been a long, long time since all six games were lost.  It was still a decent episode, though.

I applaud whoever wrote the second showcase for their effort, and George really did do the best he could with the material...but the whole thing just didn't work.

All 6 pricing games were lost/not won, but there was NO SHOWCASE DOUBLE OVERBID TO BOOT!
