Probably the reason why they delayed the airing of this show had nothing to do with game play. I think it was the contestant wearing a USA flag shirt.

I had very, very little confidence about today's ep. given how it was buried in the airing schedule. Thank goodness things really took off after $100 was given away on the Grand Game.

My two cents:

Flip Flop: Tough break. I somehow knew it was $6,948. (even though it was a motor scooter and ATV, so it could've gone either way)
That's Too Much: Tough break. 'Nuff said. But at least he redeemed himself in the Showcase and won a better car! (and what a close bid he made!)
Grand Game: Well, $100 is nothing to sneeze at.
Balance Game: Great win!
Master Key: What a win that was!
2 for the Price of 1: Another great win!

Showcases: I think I prefer the Scion Showcase, since I'm not a trip person, and all the prizes in the Scion Showcase were awesome (the iPod, the Rodeo Drive shopping spree, and the Scion, of course).

I know the 4th is coming up, but that seems like a silly reason to withhold an episode for six months.

Anyway, the reveal of Master Key was awful.  We knew the contestant won the car after he unsuccessfully tried to open the laptop's lock with the second key.  Drew should have instructed Haris to try the car's lock with the key, to make for a more suspenseful and exciting reveal.  If that lock failed, then he could say "Congratulations, you won a new laptop!  Open the lock!" and we'd see the "WIN" flag from the laptop's lock.

THE BAD NEWS:

Flip-Flop: That was meant to be won..........I don't really recall a ATV and a motorscooter altogether being worth $9684.

Grand Game: Didn't know guacamole was gonna be that pricey.

TTM: James didn't get the Accord........But he did won a Scion on his SC.

THE GOOD NEWS:

Balance Game: Good win by Jamie!

Master Key: I'm happy that Haris won the Focus......But Drew's reveal of it:

YELLOW CARD!

Drew should've told him to try the car second, because since he told Haris to try to unlock the laptop, then we already knew that he was gonna win the car. I rather have it to be suspenseful instead of stating the obvious.

24TPO1: Easy win for Shelley!

THE BOTTOM LINE:

So far, we had a pretty good "make-good" despite that Master Key blunder by Drew........On to the 4th of July show on Friday.

There's an interesting connection between all three of the second-half games that were won today: going by actual air dates, those three games did not pick up a win this season until late May/June. Which means, had this episode aired when it was supposed to, we wouldn't have had to go for so long wondering if Balance Game, Master Key, and 2 for the Price of 1 would go winless this season.  :P

Flip Flop: Crapshoot. This could have gone any which way. Too bad to start with a loss.

That's Too Much: I would have either lost in the same way as today's contestant or else stopped 1 too soon. Ashamed the Honda Accord wasn't won.

Grand Game: Should have at least gotten to $1000 as the cat treats should have been selected. I knew the Texas toast would be over $4 but I wasn't sure between the guacamole and the cleaner.

Balance Game: Today's contestant's USA flag shirt was pretty cool but I can't imagine this show was delayed 6 months for that. A nice win of a nice dining room.

Master Key: Awesome to see the Ford Focus won and I loved how that red Ford Focus looked on TV. Also the reveal was pretty bad. It's really awkward to have an anticlimactic car reveal. In cases where Master Key comes down to whether the 2nd prize or the car is won try the car before the 2nd prize which would indeed create better suspense and also ensure true excitement if the car is won.

2 for the Price of 1: Picking the 10s digit as the free digit was smart as it usually is. Once that 6 was revealed the price seemed clear. Great win of a nice Sweden trip and the cameras were decent too.

Showcases: The Scion TC showcase was the better showcase and what a fantastic bid by today's winning contestant.

Lineup: Strong: Grand Game and Balance Game are always fun. Master Key always has potential for excitement and slots well 5th. Flip Flop is a decent lead off hitter. And 2 for the Price of 1 is a fun closer.

Overall: 3 wins.,2 car wins including a car showcase win and a strong lineup make this a good show.

Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Magic Number.

...'ashamed' we're near the end of this season's first-run shows, but really, actually ASHAMED at the Master Key flop.  Seven years in, and you don't get a basic part of hosting a game.  Why?  Why, Drew, why?   We know you love this gig, now *care* enough about it to do the basic, teachable stuff correctly!  Gahhhh!!!

I actually didn't mind the Master Key reveal at all. Yeah, after the lock for the laptop didn't open, I knew he'd won the car, but my thinking at the time was "ooh, ooh, he's going to win the car!" From there, there was the anticipation of him turning the key for the car to make if official. I liked it.

I think you guys are making a big deal about nothing with the Master Key reveal. Sure, he could have skipped right to the car from the first prize, but that would have telegraphed a car win. If he had the key for the second prize and Drew skipped to the car lock second, it would have been anti-climatic after losing the car. The way it was handled, after already having the blank key, the contestant realized that the second key had to open something. After the second lock did not open, he realized it must be the car lock, and I loved seeing the contestants excitement about putting that final key in.

If he had the key for the second prize and Drew skipped to the car lock second, it would have been anti-climatic after losing the car.

Not necessarily; the car lock could've stayed locked, and the car win would not have been telegraphed.  Then we would know that the key unlocked the laptop.  Watch any instance of a second key in play, and if the car was still locked when it came time to use the second key, the host would tell the contestant to try the car if it was still available because it would make for a more exciting reveal if it were unlocked with that key..

You're right, there is an anti-climactic feeling when the second key unlocks prize #2 by default, but it's much better to have that telegraphed than a car win.

A big prize win like a car needs a good buildup and the possibility that it could not be won.  And when it is won, it makes that win all the more exciting.

It wouldn't have telegraphed anything.  While it would have been anti-climactic to win the second prize after losing the car, no one cares.  An anti-climactic computer win isn't anywhere near as bad as an anti-climactic car win.  The car is what really matters, and everyone knows it, and it's silly to pretend the audience watching at home cares just as much about the computer as the car.  Regardless of whether that key opened the computer or the car, the car lock should have been tried first.

Swing, there's a big difference between not having anything against the reveal versus thinking the reveal was better this way.
