I know that Time is Money probably isn't a good game for someone the contestant's age, but then again:

* How far in advance do they determine the pricing game lineup before the show? Obviously, they don't know who is going to play what game. For instance, we might get a wheelchair-bound contestant who happens to get to play Hole in One ... or Two?

* How many times through the years have elderly contestants (i.e., 80 and older) had to play games requiring physical action (Race Game, Hole in One ... or Two, Bonkers and now Time is Money)?

Fortunately, the one wheelchair-bound contestant who has played to my recollection played a game where it was easy to accommodate (that was "Cover Up," and he won).

I agree that it was probably not a fortunate circumstance, but that's how it worked out. Wish I knew what to say better.

Believe it or not price is actually very cautious about pitting a disabled or elderly contestant with certain games. It would be a huge disadvantage to the contestant, depending on what game or games that are being played.

It's pretty clear after 8 playings that Time I$ Money is going to be a tough game to win the top prize.  There's really no need to have a canned vegetable that is greater than $3 in order to completely mess with the results.

Adam, is there any way to record the prices of the GP's in the recap when they are revealed at the end?

Obviously, they don't know who is going to play what game...

But as long as they call Earl down after the game is played, there's no way he could get called up for it.  That's a much cleaner solution then switching out games or changing the order.

They used to be very careful about this, but recently they seem to have been much more lax.  I'd hate to see somebody get hurt.

I would not be surprised if there actually will be an open podium at some point as the correct solution.

This feels like dirty pool to me.

Then again, IITB, Grand, Punch, 1/2 Off, Plinko, and Rent probably would've been better choices for Earl than TiM.

You probably won't agree with me, but in Time is Money, contestants should have an option to bail out and still leave with something, just like in the original. $1,000 would be a reasonable amount for a bailout.

The issue is where would you put it and two, if you were to put it after the $20,000 buzz, who would turn down up to $20,000 for $1,000?

That would be very mean-spirited and I don't know how the rules are officially written, but I'd have a problem with that and tell the producers as such.

This feels like dirty pool to me.

It seems about as dirty to adding paint/fabric protection to car games to make them end in an unorthodox number to me, especially when a zero or a five are alternatives for the final digit.

Time is Money is a fair game. If you get it right on your first try you win the top prize and after that the better you do the more you win. What could be fairer than that? Certainly no need to complicate the game by adding a bailout option.
« Last Edit: January 13, 2015, 12:26:37 AM by moneygamelover »
Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Magic Number.

He was almost right on his first turn, and then had more than enough chances to get it right.  Not sure you can say he was 'too old' for the game.

A bailout option? That would defeat the purpose of the game, and the name of the game would be an oxymoron.  That's a terrible idea.

Mmm, not a bad idea but I think that's what they were trying to avoid when they brought the game back seeing the limited success of the 2003 version. After watching today's episode, however, I kind of think that I would enjoy More or Less more if it was a bailout game. I think that it would add more of a strategic element to a rather simple premise. I think bailout games are the best types of games on the show.

So...um...wow.  Two cars in one showcase.  That's amazing enough by itself, but I had a feeling in the back of my mind that I was missing something about it, so I checked some old recaps...and sure enough, this was 10 years to the day since Keisha's awesome $250 DSW on her own two-car showcase that followed her perfect playing of One Away.  I have no clue if anyone at the show realized they were doing another two-car showcase on the same date, but I'd like to believe it wasn't a coincidence.

I'm disappointed that they seem to have gone back to resetting On the Franches Mountains for each turn in Cliff Hangers.  It just doesn't feel right when the song doesn't get to play all the way through.

I like the new format of Time I$ Møney, but man, can it be a drag to watch when there's a contestant playing it who doesn't know what he's doing.

You probably won't agree with me, but in Time is Money, contestants should have an option to bail out and still leave with something, just like in the original. $1,000 would be a reasonable amount for a bailout.

Yeah, that was such a fantastic rule that the original format chucked it after two playings.  And taking a cash bail-out in a cash game that isn't related to anything else going on in the game would look ridiculously awkward.
