25 years ago today: The Toronto Blue Jays win their first American League pennant in a 9-3 victory over the Oakland As, making them the first (and only) non-US team to advance to the World Series.  Second baseman Roberto Alomar was named the series' MVP

Dodgers go up 1-0 in their grudge match against the Cubs.

I remember that year very well. Until it happened, I always thought about how cool it would be to see a Canadian team win the World Series; too bad the team that is now known as the Nationals never had the same chance to do it in Montreal.

They'd go on to beat Atlanta in the World Series, 4 games to 2, thus becoming the first non-U.S. team to win the World Series.

Why not put a velvet rope leading to home plate instead? Terrible rule.

Yup, I stayed up past 1 in the morning to watch game 6, it was so awesome to witness it

The Yankees tell the Astros “Not in our house!” with an 8-1 decision, cutting the ‘Stros’ series lead in half.

The Yankees rally from 4-0 to win 6-4 and tie the series at 2.

I’m pulling for Houston more than ever. It still seems strange seeing them in the AL.
