April 24, 2004: TPIR MDS #10
« on: April 18, 2018, 03:46:16 PM »
Last time around, the students played; now it's the teachers' turn! Many changes are on tap for this MDS: The Turntable's design mimics that of the Big Doors with cascading dollar signs, there are brand-new podiums for the Showcase, and the audience curtains are blue. It's also Rich Fields' primetime debut as announcer, as well as Roger's first MDS as sole producer, having previously split duties with Phillip Wayne Rossi. School Days plays during the opening, return from commercials and closing, but the primetime consolation prize cue still plays during the CNAOS plugs.

First Four: Kristy, Debra, Eugenia, Jeffrey

Bob makes his audience entrance here.

IUFB1: Off-Road Motorcycle
Jeffrey: $2425
Eugenia: $3900*
Debra: $5000
Kristy: $2500
ARP: $4129

Wait a minute, Bob: Aren't you forgetting something? Like giving that motorcycle to the one of them who is nearest to the ARP without going over?

PG1: Eugenia is going to play Plinko for a chance to win up to $100,000!!!

SP1: 2-Way Radios, wrong price--$15 (guesses 5, ARP: $25)
SP2: Nacho Cheese Maker, wrong price--$62 (guesses 6, ARP: $60)
SP3: Cleaning Products, wrong price--$57 (guesses 7, ARP: $27)
SP4: Cookie Jar, wrong price--$95 (guesses 5, ARP: $75)

Eugenia wins four more Plinko chips

First chip: $500
Second chip: $500
Third chip: $1,000
Fourth chip: $0
Fifth chip: $1,000

Total: $3,000

LOSS

Second Calldown: Patricia

IUFB2: Computer
Patricia: $930
Debra: $2000*
Kristy: $1050
Jeffrey: $1051
ARP: $2157

PG2: 10 Chances--Played for a Foot Spa, Snowboards and a Ford Mustang Convertible

Possible numbers in price of Foot Spa: 3, 0, 9

Chance #1: $30, is wrong
Chance #2: $39, is wrong
Chance #3: $93, is wrong
Chance #4: $90, is right

Possible numbers in price of Snowboard Package: 1, 0, 5, 6

Chance #5: $650, is right

Numbers in price of Car: 1, 0, 3, 5, 2

Chance #6: $23,510, is wrong
Chance #7: $21,350, is wrong
Chance #8: $35, $25,310, is right

WIN!

Third Calldown: Marian

IUFB3: Trip to New Orleans
Marian: $4000
Kristy: $4001
Jeffrey: $1500*
Patricia: $4001 $3300

PG3: 2 for the Price of 1--Played for a Ford Freestar and Power Tools ($27,559)

First number: 6 or 1
Second number: 6 or 2
Third number: 9 or 4

Jeffrey picks second number for free, which is 2

He then guesses $629 as price of power tools

ARP: $629

WIN!

SCSD1
Eugenia: .75
Debra: .90
Jeffrey: .25+.95=OVER

Debra is going to the Showcase! For the first time since the last MDS announced by Rod, the ending cue for both SCSDs is Dig We Must.

IUFB4: Gas Grill
Brenda: $1600
Patricia: $950
Marian: $2200*
Kristy: $1901
ARP: $3621

PG4: Most Expensive--Played for a Computer Cabinet, Upright Piano and Refrigerator

Christopher: $1400
ARP: $3146

PG6: Grocery Game--Played for a Spa ($10,098)

GP1: Super Poligrip
GP2: Bruce's Yams
GP3: Eggland's Best Eggs
GP4: Tums Smooth Dissolve
GP5: Miracle-Gro Plant Food

First purchase: 25 Yams x $1.29 = $32.25

WIPEOUT

This is the playing where Brandi, who is running the register, is frustrated because she cannot figure out how to key in 25 yams. Part of the reason is because the listings for each GP go up to 20, as some of you may have seen on a backstage photo of the game. Brandi says that the cash register doesn't go that high, but we all know that this is not exactly true, as we've seen outrageous totals in the past. Although the total does not show up on the register, Bob's line "well, it's over $21, I can tell you that", the foghorn and OVER light tell the story.

SCSD2
Kristy: .15+.70 .35=.50
Patricia: .70
Marian: .35+.75=OVER

Patricia is going to the Showcase!

SHOWCASES
Top Winner: Debra
Runner-Up: Patricia

SHOWCASE 1
CD Jukebox, Italy, Ski Boat
Debra passes to Patricia, who bids $33,500

SHOWCASE 2
Home Gym, Exercise Bike, Treadmill, Game Room (Billiards Table, Arcade Game, Air Hockey Table), Dodge Viper SRT10
Debra bids $58,000

As there has not yet been a Million-Dollar Spin during the course of the show, the winner will get her shot at the big bucks, and it'll be either Debra or Patricia who gets it. Of course, all that depends on the final reveal, so let's see who wins!

ARP of Patricia's Showcase: $72,469 (Difference: $38,969)
ARP of Debra's Showcase: $102,430 (Difference: $44,430)

Patricia wins her Showcase, and takes home $75,615 in cash and prizes, but best of all, she will get a chance to win a million dollars on the Big Wheel!

MILLIN-DOLLAR SPIN
Patricia: .15

Just a touch too strong, but Patricia has some nice prizes to enjoy. Second show in a row that someone has overshot the dollar...

That was one the most heartbreaking losses ever in Dice Game, even though it was a bit of a cheap car. At least it didn't happen to sweet old Marian.

I think that immediately declaring Grocery Game a loss was a mistake. They should have let Patricia try again.

Grocery Game was worth it for that line. "Well it's over $21. I can tell you that." :oldlol:

I think that immediately declaring Grocery Game a loss was a mistake. They should have let Patricia try again.

Guessing 25 yams was a perfectly legal move (simply guess any number of a product that has not been picked yet), so I agree to it being declared a loss right away. The price of the yams was revealed before the technical interruption anyway, so reversing that would have messed up the game.

You're right. I totally forget about the time someone bought 35 candies.

P.S., I did the math and 16 yams would have won the spa.
