Paul, I too thought the trip was $16,000. There is no way it was $12,000.
Going over by $.05 made the pain worse. It was just rotten luck, and it was NOT meant to be.
I'm sure the $9,000 would have made Christmas even greater.

First of all, this was a real THRILL RIDE!!! Congrats are especially in order to Traci for pulling off that incredible win in Any Number because I would not have believed that the last number was 0. And, I too would've lost both Double Prices and Grand Game banking on the trip to Lake Como being $16,000+ and the sweetener being less than $7.50 and not the face wash. All in all, we still had an incredible 9,000th show and I can't wait for when the 10,000th episode comes along!!!

The bad thing about the episode was the heartbreaking Grand Game loss that asking for a loss with the choice of the sweetener. While on the bright side, the three cars offered were all won and a board member was on the show today.

It's also hard to believe that in a few years, TPIR will be joining the ranks of soap operas such as General Hospital, The Young And The Restless, and Days Of Our Lives in the 10,000 episode club.

While I understand the need for a shorter lineup with all these clips running around, this was a bit too short for my liking. Grand, Cliff, A# and 3 quickies is... so short. The stupid super quickies (DP, Side, Pa#) 1st also just need to stop, especially on a special it looks foolish. Today it wrongly rewarded a member of this site, bidding correctly right away in the green spot, when on a special PG1 should never be a quickie (unless for car(s)).

On the other hand, there was legitimate good surprise with 3 car games, even if two of them were "non-cars".

They continue to just pump up the winnings on random specials for no rhyme or reason. I'm OK with $9000 for a dollar, I've been desensitized to that at this point. Even 90k Grand I guess was OK. But the $9000 "PCH" freebie for winning a PG was just plain stupid. You just threw away 36k cash today from the budget, and for what? You already had the huge Grand and an extra car game, you really didn't need this extra bit too. It also made Grand awkward since it was really 99k.

It was quite a time for a G-R.net member as well as a frequent taping attendee to both make it on. I wonder if Stan was saving this guy for 9000? I forget if this show was said to be the 9000th in advance on the tickets site. Maybe Stan just saw an opportunity.

I did find it funny both showdown winners advanced on a 90 on the 9000th show.

Congrats to our newest TPIR Alum- Paul!

When I attended my episodes back in December I met Rosendo. We spent quite some time discussing the show and our favorite games, both active and retired. It was so neat to see him do well today! He told me he was on the show with Bob back in 1994 and lost Spelling Bee and then overbid on his Showcase. It was also neat to see him play the same game I did and win it!
1,688 days until I am re-eligible to be a contestant on The Price Is Right!

No longer a Push Over!

Yeah I was honestly kinda underwhelmed some at times with this episode. It didn't feel so special, although $90k Grand Game was a nice touch if very evil. With regards to slotting, I'm really surprised no one had the foresight to put Any Number first. I mean Drew even mentioned it was the first game they ever played. Seems to me that'd be a no brainer to do. If not that, slot Pushover in 1 for a quickie game with the car element.

On the clips side.....I was kinda hoping to see the 2,000th show pop up as that hasn't been seen anywhere to my knowledge since airing, though may be wrong. Or the 4,000th even for that matter. I actually thought they'd try and show clips for each milestone show initially, but only got so much time, especially these days.

Incidentally..did anyone find it funny/sorta indicting that for Bob's shows they had a special clip which had some type of moment attached to it, but for the 8,000th with Drew it was just a brief little reference to it being that milestone ahead of a break? I don't know if they just didn't find anything notable on it or what, but that difference between the eras stood out there.

Great show today.  I had a feeling $12,612 was the right price in Double Prices.  Great playing and comeback in Any Number. As usual they used 3 obviously right picks, 1 obviously wrong pick, and 2 that could go either way in Grand Game.  Excellent Cliffhangers playing.  The ATV in Most Expensive was obvious.  Good to see Rosendo get redemption for having lost back in '94.  Rather than Big Money Week this could've easily been Big Money Day.

How many episides are we really at now?  I know this was just the celebratory 9000th show, not the actual one .
