I knew things were gonna go downhill after that big loss on PtR.

2/10

P.S. you can tell that the ladies blew their showcases when even Drew Carey didn't hesitate to reveal the prices. Then again, I had $31,350 and $25,250 as my bids, respectively, for those showcases, which would mean that I would've done better than the majority playing the CSS.

That's twice now that Governor Newsom has interrupted the show in California for a COVID-19 update (this time, to explain how the initial rollout of the vaccines will work), but stops talking just in time for the start of The Young & the Restless...

My choices would've been the bottom and top tags in 5PT with two picks; Aaron was on the same page as me to get the car.

Yikes at the DOB... a $1 bid could've been in order for the second showcase.

Just going to make a suggestion.

After Teddy was banned the other day, please stop complaining about pre-emptions for vaccine/COVID19 reasons. It's a global pandemic that's taken more lives than it ever should have. The Price is Right is not a priority and if I had my say, Price would not even be taping right now.

I will allow you to note that [insert CBS affiliate here] was pre-empted for COVID19 stuff. I don't want whining that it magically ended before Y&TR. [censored expletive] happens man.

Agreed. As one who is the current first-run recapper on BaV Boards, we also don't like if one complains about preemptions when it's clear that showing WHEEL is not the top priority in all stations. Heck, one famous member got a 14-day suspension from that site just for that reason (and also saying that they hope karma happens on one contestant).

Speaking of pre-emptions, is there some sort of "policy" for noting CBS-based (as opposed to local station) pre-emptions? Do they belong in the episode thread? Is there another thread in, say, the talk section for them?

And sorry about the Y&R bit; I was just pointing out that this is the second time the governor had given a report like this, and both times, they just happen to end at 11:00 Pacific.

I think Five Price Tags comes off better with Drew running the small prizes.  I can understand why they had the Beauties do it on premiere week -- they were just getting things back up and running and were being overly cautious -- but they've since stopped caring about how it looks to have people back away from each other, and the game looks better for it.

There was no excuse for there being a double overbid today.  Jaime was obviously way, way over.  Outside of maybe the lack of an audience, I really can't understand why Melody didn't just bid $1.

Pay the Rent: When Elin put the cereal in the mailbox, I got pretty excited--I thought she had a real shot. And in fact, if she had switched the pasta and the coconut, she would've won. That was the closest to a win the game has seen in a non-easy setup in a while. For completeness, there were 3 solutions:

Cleaner (4.99) < Cereal + Coconut (3.99 + 4.29 = 8.28) < Pasta + Stir Fry (1.59 + 7.99 = 9.58) < Pain Reliver (10.99)
Coconut (4.29) < Cereal + Cleaner (3.99 + 4.99 = 8.98) < Pasta + Stir Fry (1.59 + 7.99 = 9.58) < Pain Reliver (10.99)
Cereal (3.99) < Coconut + Cleaner (4.29 + 4.99 = 9.28) < Pasta + Stir Fry (1.59 + 7.99 = 9.58) < Pain Reliver (10.99)

Pick a #: Was that the first time this season they used the screen at the back at the studio to show a prize other than during the showcases?

5 Price Tags: Falsitis almost struck again, but good for Aaron for going for the highest price on the board!

I'm pretty sure it was...and it was shot at a really weird angle.  I can't decide whether it looked like it was edited in in post or like they went out of their way to avoid shooting Contestants' Row for no apparent reason, but either way, it didn't look like it was something they'd planned to do.

Kudos to Elin for not putting the least expensive item in the mailbox in Pay the Rent, opting for the cereal instead. If she just put the pasta on the second floor with the stir fry instead of the cleaner.

Very easy Pick a Number-- the 0 didn't look right and there were already two 6s in the price so 2 had to be the number.

Very nice job by Aaron in Five Price Tags. I wouldn't have gone for $21,445 thinking the repeating digits made it look fake.

Not surprising the Showcases ended up in a Double Overbid. Melanie should've went conservative, even going $1 since Jaime clearly went over.

It's one thing to say the show was preempted. It's quite another to claim that it should not have been preempted.

It comes down to this, and this will be the last post on this subject.

We as a society have evolved into one where things are accessible in multiple mediums. This current version of the forum is almost 20 years old. 20 years ago, we didn't have this level of access to television media. Now we do. However, many people still use television as their important media. I would understand complaining most times 20 years ago.

We also are in a global pandemic that has killed 1.63M people. 1.63M. COVID-19 is the dominant subject. Between work and COVID-19, my time watching local news has gone down, but I can only tolerate so much COVID-19 coverage myself. It's depressing. However, it's a part of life. This will pass. Governor Cuomo pre-empted me for half of Season 48 and I know has been pre-empting in Season 49. Working has made it easier because CBS.com has that level access.

This will pass. However, pre-emptions are a part of life. We are not a priority. We should be thankful we have The Price is Right at all. Let's focus on the episode from December 15.
