David Letterman's announcer on the Late Show from September 1995 until his retirement in May 2015 Alan Kalter died earlier today at age 78. He was announcer of the Robin Ward version of TTTT, as well as the voice of the USA Network before moving to the Ed Sullivan theatre.

Didn't he also do the 1977-1978 season of "Truth"?

I wonder, had "What's My Line?" been revived (or continued into the late 1970s), would Alan have assumed the announcer's role? How would he have done proclaiming, "And now let's all play, 'What's My Line?'"

I'm guessing with Alan's passing that all of Goodson-Todman's New York-era announcers have now died. Sorry to hear ... RIP.

I often thought that Johnny Gilbert could qualify in terms of living New York based G-T announcers.  Probably not to a great degree.  I think the original PIR might have moved out of the original studio around the time Johnny took over from Don Pardo.


Nevertheless, RIP Alan Kalter.  Definitely an icon growing up during the USA era, prior to TLS with Dave.

Koichi Sugiyama, the Japanese composer best known for his work on the "Dragon Quest" video game series, passed away of septic shock on September 30th at the age of 90.

Sugiyama also worked on other projects, such as the 1989 film "Godzilla vs. Biollante."

It did. On NBC, Price originated from the Colonial Theater. When it moved to ABC, it originated from the Ritz Theater.
