Race Game was a complete disaster from the start.

For Emily to win today, she would've had to either draw $7,300 worth of cards (way too long), or find an ace and just make a bid (why even bother with the cards then?).

I simulated this game 100 times with a $1,000 range, and it took 7.5 draws on average to get into winning position. 42% of the time, it took 10 draws or more. No contestant has drawn 10+ cards since 2014, and that was a Dream Car game. Using a price $8,300 from the starting bid is way too high, but limiting the game to only lower-end cars doesn't make sense either.

Basically, Card Game has been broken by inflation for a long time. I was frankly surprised when it came back from hiatus and it wasn't just retired. It's one of the worst games on the show today, and the cool new staging can only go so far to mask that.

^Would you mind rerunning that simulation for $26,049? That the most loaded Toyota Corolla I've seen in my life, and I remember that being ridiculous when it came up this past April.

Unfortunately, I don't think the casual audience is going to think about that. Card Game has become That's Too Much! on steroids, but I'm only willing to defend them with the $15k baseline because theoretically, they could offer a very cheap Chevy Spark on the game and have the contestant go over on the reverse. Once there isn't a car in rotation that's less than $17.5k, I'm fine with bumping up the starting bid to $18k, but I'm sure I'm in the minority here.

There wasn't necessarily anything wrong with the setups today (aside from Card), but bad luck and bad gameplay just hurt everything. I was also confused when they essentially added $6,700 to the first showcase, just for the heck of it.

Race Game was a complete disaster from the start.

Seemed like the guy didn't know how much designer stuff is on Price, and derailed from there. First wipeout in the game since S47.

We were due for a 1/6. Bee / Race again together, H-L again is odd. Give me even game rotations, dangit!

I am also tired of Card Game.  They are 100% trotting it out there lately to get losses, instead of adjusting the starting price / ranges and THEN figuring out how to gt losses from there, and it sucks. But: that's a very reasonable 23k SUV in there this time. People draw a few cards and get scared no matter what the price is at. Price the car!

As far as SC1, that was just theming.

With a $1,000 range: 8.5 draws on average, 44% needing 10 or more.

There is an upper limit, since there's a ~70% chance you'll draw an ace within the first 10 cards. But if we're relying on aces to keep the game moving, we might as well ditch the cards altogether and rename it Guess the Price.

I'm not sure that's the solution either. With a variable starting bid it's basically Range Game, a game that itself has devolved into "Stop It in the Middle Unless It's for a Car".

In Card Game's special deck, I think it's time to retire the "$1000" card and have three 2000s, three 3000s and the one 5000.  The average value won't go up that much but will make the spread look more winnable. 

To make the game go faster and not make each playing a forced loss, I think it's also time to eliminate the 2s, 3s, and 4s from the standard deck.  Those 12 cards can really slow the game down.  All Drew has to say is the deck of cards goes from 5s all the way up to the Ace which is wild.
