Season 52 Schedule Released

The Season 52 schedule is out.

Highlights:

- Season starts September 25, 2023 (0301L), but is not the first taped show. 
- The tape date of 0402L is interesting (October 17, 2023), because it's later than any other shows that week. 0402L is slated to air December 12, 2023, also known as Bob Barker's 100th birthday. I would watch that entry as the season goes on,
- Thanksgiving break begins after November 22, 2023 (0383L) and resumes on December 4, 2023 (0391L).
- No show on January 1, 2024. (0431L doesn't exist accordingly)
- March Madness reruns are March 14 and 15, 2024. This means I get a birthday show for a rare change (the next show, March 18, 2024 (0541L)). My birthday is generally rerun or weekend.
- 0561L would be a possible April Fools Day show.
- Last regularly scheduled episode is June 28, 2024 (0685L) while the last scheduled episode is July 4, 2024 (0691L).


This means Spring 2025 will have show 1001L.

I imagine that they'll update the dates for the March Madness reruns from those dates to March 21 & 22.  Selection Sunday takes place on St. Patrick's Day (which was the case in 2013 & 2019, while it occurred a week earlier in 1996 & 2002).  Either way, I think there still should be a new show on 03/18

Now in the terrible event Bob would not make it to December 12th, as of course all of us here hope he does and more, hopefully they would have a backup plan regarding the episode in question so that it could be easily recut to a tribute show, or something along those lines.

Honestly, I think the easiest plan is, if they were to tape a tribute show or just simply reference Bob's birthday, is to tape it as close as possible to his birthday and swap the airing dates appropriately. I don't think the show wants to be in a similar position as the people that filmed a Betty White 100th birthday special last year.

The show is consistent with making that error with March Madness and the dates a lot. They have plenty of time to fix that on the schedule. How they gonna fix this error is also dependent on if they're going do another College Week.

Indeed-- I would not want a show for an upcoming centennial of Bob Barker, only to have him not physically make that centennial (they would possibly have egg on their faces if that happened).

TBH & IMO, I don't know or think he'll be in attendance even if he gets to the date & into the new year / beyond

Isn't having the entire week after Thanksgiving be scheduled for repeats the standard now, especially as it can be used to air episodes that were pre-empted at the last minute? There's not much need for a Cyber Monday "special" any more.

And has there ever been a new episode on 1/1? In the past, CBS had Rose Parade/Cotton Bowl coverage pre-empting it, or at least causing a repeat, but I don't remember a new episode airing on that date even after CBS stopped airing the parade.

It's probably been asked recently but it might be fitting here - when is the 10,000 episode likely to fall?  For some reason I thought it would be this season.

If anything, they could have Drew film a piece at the beginning of the episode telling viewers they recorded the episode before Bob passed.

Using the episode counts from The Price is Right Wiki Fandom page, including the two unaired episodes from this past season, the count is at 9,710.  That means assuming that there actually are 190 episodes in season 52, the 10,000th episode would be the 100th episode of Season 53.  So maybe sometime in February, 2025?

That looks wrong to me.  I've got every show tracked in a spreadsheet (which means I can't accidentally miscount them), and the first 51 seasons contain 9,706 shows (not counting 0013D, 5811D, and 1513X).  That means 52 will end at 9,896, which puts 10,000 as the 104th episode of Season 53.

Hmmm, interesting.  Now I am curious to where the discrepancies come from.  I'll have to research that some day!
