The probability of picking both CAR cards with three selections on Spelling Bee is just under 0.7% — 28 unordered ways to pick two CARs out of 4,060 total unordered ways to pick three cards from 30.

Thanks for verifying my workaround math in chat :P

(1/15)(1/29) + (14/15)(2/29)(1/28) + (1/15)(28/29)(1/28) = 0.689%

Can someone help me understand the colors of the board in the recap of Now...or Then?
Looks like white = picked and gotten right, black = picked and gotten wrong

Speaking of colors / lighting... Bee & Race definitely looked different today.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

Black means wrong answer, white means right answer. The rest of the colors are just an approximation of the colors on the board.

The actual retail price is...

Exactly 1 in 145, to be precise, as there are 30 x 29 x 28 / 6 = 28 x (30 x 29 / 6) = 28 x (5 x 29) = 28 x 145 ways to select 3 cards, and as you said, 28 of those have both of the CAR cards.

Speaking of Spelling Bee, is it just me, or do the numbered cardholders seem to be a slightly darker shade of orange than before?

Honestly? I would've assumed the exact same thing as Danielle, that it had to be a $7,000 trip to NYC and not a $9,000 trip! Thank the Lord though that she got a second chance and won a car in her showcase!!!  :-D :D

Can't start a show off much duller than a loss in Pick a Number. I really thought she had it with the 7.

Well how about that, he had both CAR cards! I thought at best he might have a chance when the first card was an R.

I was thinking no movement required for Double Cross, I didn't think the washer and dryer would be that inexpensive.

A great win in Dice Game with a tough string of rolls besides the 1.

Too bad Michael didn't have the first Showcase with his $35,000 bid.

Yup, 1/145 is exactly what my calculator gave me before I converted it to a percent.

In regards to the orange, it might be the new studio lighting. The Cover Up lights denoting correct numbers almost look white instead of blue, for what it’s worth.

A "bea-u-ti-ful" win, to quote Bob Barker's turn of phrase.

I noticed this too. Spelling Bee’s contrast between the shade of yellow of the board and the shade of yellow of the cards was unlike it has ever looked before. Could that be because of the new studio lighting or did the prop get a makeover?
