It is a shame what happened to Virginia’s Pink Rat on Rat Race today. They should have a back up plan when this happens or give her at least one of the prizes. The game malfunction so it is not her fault. Also I can’t understand that the show has 4 female models and none were available for this episode. This is not a full time job for them.

Roadgeek Adam thank you so much for your hard work and dedication for posting these recaps daily all these years. You are an amazing fan of the show.

This was the 3:00PM show on the first taping day. The 8:00AM show had Grand/ORP/Cover/Push/Rat/Freeze; the 12:00PM show had Master/Range/Switch/Dice/Flip/Penny.

From the 8:00 show:
The $7956 Sea-doo in Freeze was used in Push Over;
The $2266 tablets in IUFB4 were used in IUFB2
The Kia Forte in Dice Game was used in Rat Race (where it was $21,380)
An arcade machine was used in ORP, was it the same as in SC1? Episode hasn’t aired yet here so I can’t compare

From the 12:00 show:
The $1440 TV in IUFB1 was IUFB5
The $1080 fans in IUFB2 was IUFB3
The Nissan Sentra in Rat Race was used in Master Key
The $1693 boxing trainer in IUFB6 was IUFB4
The Bayliner Element M15 was in SC1 in both shows
The Celestron Telescope in SC2 was in SC1
The Chevrolet Trax in SC2 was in Dice Game ($24,165)

New to this episode:
The trips to Chicago and Seattle in Switch?
The Kate Spade bags and shoes in IUFB3
Car Washes for a year and Snacks for a year (but that’s cash)
The 3 SPs used in Rat Race
The trip to the Dominican Republic in Push Over
The knife set in IUFB5
The five GPs used in To the Penny
The trip to Florida in SC1
The Lesiuremod backyard in SC2

They’re not recycling every prize (nor did I expect them to), they introduce new prizes that can be shown on monitors like “prizes for a year” and trips, GPs and SPs and smaller items like handbags are also introduced. I am surprised at just how much was reused without modifications.

I genuinely said “WHAT?!” out loud when the second “1” was revealed in Dice Game. Talk about a bad break.

I went to this show. Rat Race was the game I was referring to about a potential S&P issue. The rat jumped the track a bit, and the whole audience booed when they told us it would still count. I think she would have a case. It appears the force James gave when hitting the release button caused the rat to settle wrongly on the track.

This taping took about 2 hours. To the Penny took 15 minutes to shoot. There was a big stopdown during the Showcase over the price of the boat. Lots of pickup shots. The breaks between segments were also much longer than before. Overall, it was still a fun experience.

I will be eligible again in March. The move worked out in my favor, I only work a couple of miles away from the show in Glendale.

Just one full win today plus a $12,000 bailout in To The Penny, but still not a bad show. That was a tough break in Dice Game, with two 1s in the price of the car, though. And there was no way the watercraft in Freeze Frame was going to be only $2,044.

Hmm.... I'm sure they have covered the case of the rats not finishing in the rules, but a model-caused sabotage would probably be grounds to redo. Hard to prove, though.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

When they showed the Pink Rat moving along on the ground , did that happen before or after James put the rat back on the track in a different position? That look to me that someone grabbed the Rat after Drew yeeted it and lay it on the ground so it can run.

The result in Rat Race sucked, but it is fully covered in Drew’s explanation - the rats might not even finish. And yeah, that sucks, but it isn’t an unexpected outcome.

I just watched the end of Rat Race on cbs.com. It's hard to tell from the angle of the shot, but it's possible that the pink rat jumped the track going into the first turn (after all, it was doing fine on the first straight part of the track). James didn't appear to hit the starting mechanism particularly hard, and his hand was very, very flat -- he can't be blamed for interference. If there was interference at the beginning (and that's a very big "if"), it was a problem with the mechanism, not the model.

It's extremely possible that the shot of the rat running along the stage floor occurred later -- TPIR's camera operators are very good, but I have a hard time believing one of them could perfectly focus and frame a shot of a rat that landed in an unexpected location two seconds after Drew threw it (not to mention the odds of the rat both landing on its wheels and pointing in a direction that allowed it to run back toward the game).

I assume this wasn't a problem with cbs.com -- during the part of Rat Race I watched, it looked like at least two of the pedestal cameras had a distracting pattern of faint vertical lines running down the screen, most easily seen against solid-color spaces such as the panels of door 1 and the background of Rat Race's small prizes. Did that show up on the broadcast, too?

They’re not recycling every prize (nor did I expect them to), they introduce new prizes that can be shown on monitors like “prizes for a year” and trips, GPs and SPs and smaller items like handbags are also introduced. I am surprised at just how much was reused without modifications.

I find this kind of thing very interesting. Last season, for my own reference, I checked three episodes of Let's Make a Deal that all taped on the same day to see how many prizes they shared (LMaD has been doing that for years, seeing as its repeating prizes have much less of an impact on the outcome of the game). I was going to do it once for Price this season, but I haven't been able to find any season 52 airdate calendars anywhere -- cbs.com's calendar still reflects season 51 and tpir.com's calendar is completely blank. I assume you've been able to piece these together because you recognize things from the tapings you attended?
