Feedback Monitors

Those who have been in Studio 33 may have some insight into this.

When there was a wide shot of Studio 33 from a camera at the back of the audience during Family Feud (1988 & 1994), there were feedback montiors (or floor wedges) visible on each side of the stage, presumably to assist the host to hear easier.  I can only guess that they may have been used when other games taped there but we know that they weren't visible on stage for Price.

How was the host able to hear during the one bids without a floor wedge or some other means close by?

In 33 (and Haven for that matter), the host was close enough to the contestants that he could either hear them directly. If he couldn't hear them, he waited for the bid to show up on the podium to state it.
