Chat was in a relative uproar for good reason on how dull this show was. Many of us didn’t even notice Seat was for bigger money - what a ridiculous thing to have that game over Plinko this week, even with couples.

The pricing games also had notably cheaper prizes. Along with 0414L having harder car games - I bet a Gold win wasn’t expected and they adjusted the next taping day.

All that said, I’ll point out that it was nice to see Check-Out so fair for a car - they just sucked (4.50 on 2 oz of cat food and 6.00 on cookies stood out).
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

This maybe wasn't the best show, but 3 wins plus a $20,000 bailout isn't what I would call a dud show, especially since a car was won in the Showcase. I hope everybody who celebrates has a Merry Christmas and that everybody is having a Happy Holiday season.

Hot Seat's lump of coal effect on the lineup aside, why Cover Up twice this week with the specials?

Very clever about using the "PRESENTS" and "COAL" metaphors.

I would like to add the $1,000 won during the one Showcase Showdown to be a stocking stuffer.

I rather liked that a grocery item game was played for a car, and that it was a non-traditional car/grocery game in Check-Out.

I also had no problem with Hot Seat being played.  That game affords a much better chance of winning a decent cash total than Plinko I dare say.  Plinko's pricing mechanism is to me the second most difficult mechanism used for SP games, with Five Price Tags' true/false mechanism being the most difficult.

It was a real treat for me to be off from work since Wednesday and to actually be able to watch those three episodes from home this week.

Merry Christmas everybody.

Just FYI - the cat item is treats, not food.

While they were still too high, treats are often a bit more than food would be for the same size/weight :)

Not the easiest set up in Cover Up, getting the first 3 numbers right on the first try ended up really hurting them.

The guess on the cat treats ended up being the big difference in Check Out. The guess for the cookies was pretty questionable as well, but they did end up only being a dollar off. I was thinking around $3.79 for them.

Very nice job in Hot Seat, I'm not sure they really needed to up the top prize to $50,000 though.

This is the 1st playing of Check-Out, since the Season 47 April Fools Day show , that the contestant overpriced every single grocery item.

This tradition predates me as recapper. I always try to do the last show before Christmas, even though I was raised Jewish and am now an atheist, it's still a tradition here.

Just something that caught my eye watching this episode, but has the Range Game green section been updated to an LED?  It just looked super smooth to me today.

Could be just the new studio lights. The eggcrate display in Check-Out, for instance, looks like an LED imitation of the original display.

I really thought this was a great episode despite the lower win rate! The contestants were good too!

When was the last time that at the very least the last episode before Christmas did not have Christmas music playing during the credits? I always looked forward to it, though of course I love the regular theme music too.
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

The special from Tuesday night was supposed to air two weeks ago.
