FULL RECAP - TPiR 06/20/2006

Bob: stage entrance

Digital Camera (G)($3277)

Funny thing is that since Barker didn't ask Joel to turn the wheel that safe, if were
real, wouldn't have opened.

8 6 4 3 2

All this stuff was out for show...
(1) 2-Speed Blender
(2) Digital Voice Recorder
(3) (Presto) Salad Shooter

A couple of goofy things in this segment. First, It appears there was a deleted
overbid on the bar. Second, Barker says this is the third time someone has run the
board. Probably not true. But this game came with an error as the person responsible
for sound effects played the funny-sounding "wrong" sound instead of dinging the
chime. Oops.

SHOWDOWN #1
$ 4,989   Joel      35 + 65  1.00  *$1000*  Bonus 25   Through to Showcase Round
  7,889   Michael   75 + 60    OV   (Puny 1st Spin)
 22,245   Martina   45 + 90    OV

Oddball moment #3: Judy wants to "Come On Up", but when she gets midway up the steps
Barker lays a hand on her forehead, a la any miracle healer you've ever seen. Now, can
she say "Baby"?

The tragedy in all this is that this episode likely will never see the light of day
again - June shows rarely rerun, but this one's a gem so far.

4  Ridgeway Fairfax Grandfather Clock (G)
Holly 1600   Aaron 1   JUDY 1500   +Ryan *2100   ($2940)

Ryan, the last of the "First Four", plays BONKERS for 2 Honda CRF80 Offroad

1.  H H L H  :19
2.  H L H L  :07
3.  H L L L  :03
4.  H L L H  :00   LOSS

And just why did Ryan lose this game? Polling the Peanut Gallery, how else?

Meanwhile, Justine wants to come up to the stage, too. Barker escorts her
to the "Southpaw Steps" and gets steered in the right direction.

5  Captain's Cape Cod Telescope (S)
Holly 800   Aaron 500   Judy *1501   JUSTINE (OS) 1500   ($1980)

Judy plays HIT ME for a (Panasonic) 42" Plasma HDTV and an Encore Normandy Park
Entertainent Console (G&S)($8995)

(1) Azo Cranberry Supplement        $13.98  $6.99  2h    2
(2) Tidy Cats Scoop Cat Litter        7.37   7.37  Ac    3/13
(3) Hot Pockets (2 pk)               24.90   2.49  Kd   13
(5) Glad Forceflex Trash Bags (38)   19.47   6.49  3d   16   Stays

(4) Midnite Sleep Aid                79.60
(6) Capzasin P                       90.93

House Hand:  (Qd) As - 21   LOSS, BUT...

After she picked the trash bags Barker kind of plodded ahead without asking Justine if
she wanted to stop, which is the normal procedure. After the break on the suggestion
of an audience member he awards Justine the prize, though in reality she had no chance
in the world of winning it. She was done for once she picked the trash bags. Bottom
line: a TECHNICAL WIN

6  Fiesta Dinnerware (L)
Holly 600   Aaron *650   HEATHER 500   Justine 501   ($875)

Aaron plays MONEY GAME for a Ford Mustang (Std., WheelLock)(S)

$ 42     35     60-3   81
$        51     17     19-1
$        15     93     42-2

Clearance Sale: Fairly easy, though I dreaded Michael being wrong because of the audience.

Safe Crackers: Kinda disappointed this wasn't played for a car. But I did find it nice that we got to hear more of the safe music during the playing. Barker's safe procedure was weird- he didn't even ask Joel to turn the wheel at all.

Pathfinder: Too easy! I guess Roger wanted to be kind to us today after getting shut out in the car games the last four shows.

Bonkers: No excuse for this being lost. The first digit was pretty much a gimme, but the player had to rely too much on the audience.

Hit Me: Terrible decision, Bob. Absolutely terrible.

Money Game: Very easy as well.

Showcase: I thought Judy had it won, but darn. I was surprised the first showcase was not that expensive, because the spa sounded nice to me.

Overall: Very good show today!

Clearance Sale-Nice set change; the bottom part of the price stands are yellow, the middle part in the shape of a red pricetag, and the top part is completely blue.  I'm glad Michael listened to the audience.

Safe Crackers-Odd that the zeroes were in place when the game stared and I can't believe that Bob did not tell him to turn the wheel.

Pathfinder-Second time this season it was played perfectly.  I liked the technical glitch at the end and Martina's excitement in the begining.

Bonkers-It was played poorly when Ryan looked at the audience for help.  If only he won, we would have a perfect show.

Hit Me-Judy probably had no idea how to play the game.  When was the last time Bob asked the contestant if he/she wanted to make the ace one or 11?

Money Game-Good playing.  Aaron got some gas money to go with the Mustang.

Overall a great show today.

Anyone else think Bob was a little off today? He seemed like he didn't feel well or something....he's been calling the SCSD just the "Showcase" for a few days now....

That being said, today was a great show. It's always nice to see Pathy, but it was extra nice to see it won EXACTA!

Good line up of games today as well....Money Game was played pretty well I think...Have Mustang Coupes always been under 20k? For some reason, it seems like they had been 21+ the last few times they had been used in Lucky $even...

What a fun show today.  Interesting contestants.  Some good game play (Pathfinder and Money), some not so great (Bonkers, Hit me).  Some fun Bob moments.  A jacket from out of TJ Hooker.  2 people trying to get on stage prematurely.

It was a fun little show here, with the almighty Pathfinder being played, and some great contestants.  Bob wasn't really at his peak today, but it was still really fun.

Martina was just fantastic.  She was just insane on stage, before she even saw the car.  For that matter, Bob seemed to have calmed her down enough so that she actually reacted less strongly after winning !  So wonderful to see her win!

And the obvious blooper in Pathfinder:  anyone know what happened with the sound effects?  Or why Martina was erooed when she stepped to the zero, even though it was right?

Speaking of Pathfinder and bloopers, Bob made a mistake himself, telling Martina that either the 0 or the 5 could be the last digit in the price of the car, instead of the 0 or the 2.  I mean, there could have been a second technical win today if she did step to the 5, or if the 2 had been the last number.

I find it interesting that Bob would specify 1998 as one of the only two times that Pathfinder was played perfectly, since it was actually won perfectly three consecutive times that year!

Hit Me, Hit Me, Hit Me... I'm torn.  I don't really think Judy deserved the win, but only because it was impossible for her to win at that point anyway.  Had it been possible, then certainly.  But still, I can't say I disagree with the decision either, since it could be looked at as wrong, and even if there was no way she could win, she still needed to make the decision on what to do herself.

Having said that, Judy didn't really play Hit Me well.  Mistaking the Azo for the ace was understandable.  But thinking the trash bags were an 8--which Bob kept telling her repeatedly that she needed to find an 8--was not.

And it looks like the white Hit Me sign has changed to a yellower color.  The white sign looked better.

Michael should really be grateful for the audience saving his butt in Clearance Sale.  I didn't think he was going to change his mind, either.

I wonder why Bob didn't have Joel spin the wheel of the safe.

Speaking of Joel, why did Bob keep pronouncing his name "Joe-elle"?  That seemed strange.

So, I guess Beverly Hills supermarkets don't have wide enough aisles for cars to drive through.

And for my heels impression, Heather .

Bidding Round #3- #244, Holly! :-D

Pathfinder- To say that this was an interesting segment is an understatement. That was just great television right there.

Bonkers- Why do people look out to the audience during this game?! DON'T DO IT!!!

Showcase- Who is teaching these people how to bid? Simply amazing.

BEST CONTESTANT OF THE DAY- Martina.

SHOW SUMMARY AND GRADE- A pretty entertaining show. Not overly spectacular, but still, pretty good... Grade: 3

Clearance Sale: It was easy to realize the digital piano would be the expensive prize, sale or not. For a moment, I was going to put the $1000 tag on the home gym, but that wouldn't make any sense. At least that wouldn't be as bad as Michael's original choice.

Safe Crackers: I won a $400 digital camera three years ago. The price shouldn't've went up that high to be 650 now.

Pathfinder: I usually get into 'possible exacta' mode when someone gets the first two numbers first. When I heard the trap for 0, I had a weird look. 2 better than 0 (this time)? Bob's saying of "5" also got me confused a little. Then I hear dings and the theme playing; "I think Martina won it." Then I got evidence that this game makes errors at times. A 1986 Exata? I laugh.

Bonkers: Seeing a pair of motorcicles made me think of Coming or Going when it played for a pair. Aside from the number logic, I thought of the only possible high even number, which was 8. My mind went bonkers when I said to make it (the 7) lower. This and Ryan's timely advice from the Peanuts wasted this playing. Besides, I would probably lose fiddling around with the 5 and 3.

Hit Me: "Ooh, an ace! Better go for 21 to win this." As soon as Judy picked the Azo [woman scream], I knew she would be in trouble. Then it got interesting when Bob forgot to ask if she wanted to hit or stay. Even though the house hits on 16, I wanted to hit (I should've checked the remaining products first). At least I was right about the House's ace: That a ten-ish card would appear. I think we might have a technical win here. We did.

Money Game: I was thinking either 35 or 42, then 60.

Questionable (to me). I figured this was very decent show. I didn't keep track of the wins until I read the recap. At first I would've been a little upset because Ryan ruined a perfect show by blowing Bonkers with the Peanuts' help. On the other hand, if it weren't for the Peanuts, Michael would've lost Clearance Sale, so it's break-even for them. Then Hit Me would've been a loss if Bob asked Judy if she wanted to stay/hit. I won't ponder on it anymore because I did have a decent time thanks to Pathfinder, Judy and Justine's Come Ups, and the Hit Me Technic.

I thought this was an interesting show today.  Clearance Sale--thank god the audience had Michael change the tags at the last second.

Pathfinder---it was exciting to get an exacta in this game.  Apparently somebody in the control room screwed up---but Martina deserved to win that car.  I wonder if that car was used on a previous show....

Bonkers---this is the second time in a row where I saw contestants look at the audience for help.  DON'T DO IT!!! There is only 30 seconds to play this game---speed is the factor here.  This is as frustrating as yesterday's playing of Ten Chances.

Hit Me looked relatively hard today.

Showcases--both of the bids were great---but the birthday boy won his showcase.  I liked the skit of the second showcase in my honest opinion.

Donno if anybody noticed this...after Barker said "either the 5 or the 0" the 2 lit up and as Martina was moving back the "erooo" sound effect played.  My guess was that the sfx person payed enough attention to catch Bob's error (and so did the person operating the gameboard) to alert him...the number HE was standing on lighting up AND the "wrong number sound" so say "oops!".  Didn't really matter though. EXCELLENT playing.
They can be close at the top, too.

Wow, Clearance Sale and Eazy az 1 2 3 played on back to back days!  It's not too unusual for them to show during the same week, but that is sorta weird.

And why couldn't Eazy have lasted as long yesterday as Sale did today?

Oh, and if Michael had lost that game, I don't think he'd have survived the commercial.

I wonder why Bob didn't have Joel play with the wheel in Safe Crackers.

The end of Pathfinder was weird.  First Bob gave Martina a wrong choice for the last number, and then, when she stepped on what was obviously the right answer, the EROOO played.  It made for a dramatic ending, but still, it was very strange.

Incidentally, Martina was an awesome contestant.

Have two people ever forgotten Contestants' Row on the same show before?

Bonkers should have been won.  Simple as that.

Hit Me, on the other hand, should have been lost.  I realize that Bob forgot to Judy if she wanted to quit, and I think it would have absolutely been right to check the remaining cards in the board during the commercial to see if she could have achieved 21 with them...but quite simply, by the time Bob made his mistake, she had already lost the game.  There wasn't anything she could have done at that point that would have gotten her a win, and she shouldn't have been awarded one.

The arrival of the car in the second showcase was hilarious.

I would like everyone to be aware that I BEAT TYNAN ON CSS. :-D

What do you mean, "nice set change?"  They've looked like that for a year and a half.

In that regard, I'm glad it wasn't won.  A perfect show with today's Hit Me would have been a travesty.

With regard to Hit Me, Frank15 wrote:

But still, I can't say I disagree with the decision either, since it could be looked at as wrong, and even if there was no way she could win, she still needed to make the decision on what to do herself.

Oh, I totally disagree.  Her decision at that point in the game was completely irrelevent.

Yeah, I agree.  It almost looked like it was dirty.

If Michael didn't listen to the audience, he would have lost.

I'm kind of getting used to the new reveal for Safe Crackers, it's okay. I would have said $650, and I wonder why Bob didn't make him spin the wheel on the safe.

Martina was a great contestant. I'm happy she won. When she stepped to the 0 I knew she won, but when the wrong sound played, it threw me. Also, Bob was standing on the 2 when he said it was either the 5 (which was already lit up) or the 0. I'm sure they didn't want to offer a technical win on a car game. Has that ever happened before?

Bonkers should have been won. I don't like when they look to audience, it takes up valueable time.

I don't know what to say about Hit Me. It's Bob's fault for not asking if she wanted to go again or stand, so I see no problem with awarding Judy the prize. But if she went again, she would have lost. The other 2 cards were 8 for the sleep aid since it is $9.95, and 7 for the Capzasin, since it is $12.99

Money Game was easy. 19 and 60 were my first picks.

Alot of good showcase bidders lately. And Bob seemed a little off today. I loved when Gabi crashed the car.

This was certainly an........interesting show.

Eazy was played twice in a row? Wow.......Oh wait......

I couldn't figure out what Michael was doing. You could clearly hear what the audience wanted him to do. Although I'm glad a contestant might not have listened to them, (See Bonkers) they were indeed helping him.

Maybe Wheel of Fortune has decided that every time the wheel is spun in Safe Crackers, they have to pay money.

Strangest Pathfinder I've ever seen. But nicely played, nonetheless.

Martina was a great contestant. You knew a car game was coming, so you expected some more reaction.

I'm not even going to comment on Bonkers again. Well, I just did. But you know what I mean.  :-P

I missed Bob calling Hit Me a technical win, but I kind of expected it.

I'm almost surpised Bob didn't call the ace that the house had a 1, and continue the game, but I'm glad he didn't. If the house was a player, he/she would have stopped with 21. (I assume).  :-P

Nothing really special in Money Game. I was hoping for an exacta.

Gotta love the car reveal in the showcase.

Geez, we're getting a lot of good bidders lately. I wonder if I can hire them to play the CSS for me.

I really hope that this show does get rerun. It'd be nice, but, it's June.

Clearance: How much easier can it get?

Safe: Tricky, but won...and the safe was broken into, since he didn't spin the wheel to it(lol!)

Pathfinder: Martina!(the ultimate hottie who heels didn't recognize!) There goes Roger and Bob forgetting stats again! And Pathfinder was even around as long as either thought! Duh! FYI, exacta was just a couple months ago with the "Avon" incident...but the Impala was 21,584....now up to 21,590. Must be the expensive gas. Anyways, nice job sound effects person! Reminded me of the Carol/Cliff Hangers incident from back in the '80s.

Bonkers: He came close to winning as piss poor as he played this. I guess people must have watched the episodes of people asking the audience, and people think this is the way to play the game. Booyah! Don't feel sorry for his loss due to his stupidity!

Hit: I could see her getting tripped on the Azo, but the Hot Pockets should have been her first choice anyhow, it screams EXACTLY RIGHT! The Tidy Cats might be a tripper for a non viewer, but I had this right! Duh! Almost a Pappy setup and gimme win, but nah, she won TECHINICALLY!

Money: Wow good and fast! I was going 35 for the back of the car and would have been wrong! Nice!

Showcases: Very good bidding here lately! Suprised that we haven't had another DSW, but we got 5 shows to go! Maybe......maybe not.

7.75 of 10, the Hit me fiasco kinda got to me to do a 9 of 10. Yeah, we won't see a June episode again more than likely with the shorter summer rerun season this time.

EDIT: Yeah, Bob called the wrong number in Path also, not that it mattered anyhow. He's gonna call something wrong and cost Fremantle a car if he isn't careful
