Drew Carey: Now and Then
« on: March 01, 2008, 02:14:16 PM »
Drew now has 100 shows under his belt. 6 MDSs and a near the mid-way point of his first season. I thought I'd start this thread so we could all talk about Drew THEN (October 2007) and NOW (March 2008). I was thinking something like this:

THEN: Talked really, really, REALLY fast!

NOW: Does it like a pro; speaks really clear!

I don't mean this as a way to bash Drew from when he started, but to see how TREMENDOUSLY he's improved in such a short time.

THEN: Nervous and tripping over rules (big enough to admit several times that he didn't know all the rules yet).

NOW: Calm, gets through rules very well, and MUCH more comfortable.

Easy!

Then: Not really that personal with the contestants

Now: Always personal, very interactive with the contestants

Good post...

Then: Always did the same "Rich... what's the first item for bid (insert right arm movement) today on The Price is Right"

Now: Not as much... mixing things up a little bit.  Not that he does not do this still, but a lot less often.

Then: Left hand always played with pocket flap on jacket during IFUB

Now: Left hand down at side

Drew still pokes fun at the prizes, but just not as often. Earlier, it seemed he felt OBLIGATED to do so, and it came out forced and contrived.

Then: Not much excitement, very nervous, would talk way too fast, always playing with the pocket flap, doing the same old thing every time and not really making it his own

Now: I think Drew has figured out how to make his hosting style original. He has slowed down while talking, he is always excited, and just really looks comfortable in front of the camera. He still plays with that pocket flap though...

Then: Drew seemed to have a good time, but was visibly nervous.

Now: Drew seems to feel quite at home at TPiR, and is obviously having a great time.

Yeah, but it used to be "Now and Then"... So Frank15, you still get the home game, and we'll also give you a telephone from Invention Submission Corporation.  :-D

Yes, but he used a Then of 1998, implying that he was using the current title, not the old one.  Sorry, but Frank fails.

Now, if the Then date was May of 1978.....

Now: Only getting better.
